Forward of another email re something which has gone wrong whilst I’ve been on annual leave

Then her email to me “this has REALLY PISSED ME OFF - very disappointed”

That old annual leave anxiety is back in full force

Thats unrealisable isn’t it? The email?

It's very unprofessional.

Antarcticant · 22/08/2022 18:09

Unreasonable and unprofessional.

Besttobe8001 · 22/08/2022 18:09

It's unreasonable and unprofessional.

Do they usually talk to you like that?

PinkFrogss · 22/08/2022 18:10

I would play dumb and email back asking why they’re pissed off

TeddyBeans · 22/08/2022 18:11

Email back and say sorry boss, nothing to do with me. I'm on annual leave

Choice4567 · 22/08/2022 18:11

Is she pissed off with you specifically or is she venting that the situation in the email has pissed her off?

EmmaH2022 · 22/08/2022 18:11

Are you checking your work email while off?

yes, it's an awful way to talk to someone. I'm thinking if she talks like that, it's something you had no control over anyway, am I right?

tunnocksreturns2019 · 22/08/2022 18:12

Incredibly unprofessional

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 22/08/2022 18:12

Is she pissed off at the situation or you?

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 22/08/2022 18:12

Very unprofessional, so you have any internal processes you can follow to request to discuss this in the presence of someone who can ensure it is discussed properly with professional respect?

NannyPippa · 22/08/2022 18:12

I would ignore the email since it's not a question. Very unprofessional.

Yes.

No actually support to fix what went wrong or ask what happened, just “this has really pissed me off”

Ive opened another 4 emails, most of which contain the word “disappointing or disappointed”

Pixiedust1234 · 22/08/2022 18:13

So she's pissed off because something has gone wrong while you are away? That's down to her to manage whoever is doing your job for two weeks. Unless she's just venting?

Either way. Not your problem. Ignore all work emails until you are back in work being paid to read them. Have a lovely holiday!

Craver · 22/08/2022 18:14

I would be taking advice regarding starting a formal grevience procedure on my return from leave. No one deserves to be treated like that.

LakieLady · 22/08/2022 18:14

That's awful. It's a terribly unprofessional way to communicate with a colleague.

Briocche · 22/08/2022 18:15

I wasn’t responsible for the thing which went wrong but my team are so therefore I am.

I know I shouldn’t be checking emails but my stomach is in knots most of the time if I don’t

OP posts:
acrobatcaviar · 22/08/2022 18:16

Very unprofessional email.

Are you back after your annual leave now, or are you checking work email while still off?

TooHotToTangoToo · 22/08/2022 18:16

I'd be looking for another job, any manager worth their salt would speak to you when you got back, not email and use the words disappointed and pissed off. Massively unprofessional

gwenneh · 22/08/2022 18:17

I wouldn't go back from leave if my manager spoke to me like that.

There are ways to handle staff mistakes. This is not a good one.

Find another job. If you are so stressed from this job that you can't relax during time off then it's time to move on. Life is too short for this shit.

If you’re feeling like that when you’re supposed to be chilling unwinding and enjoying a summer holiday it’s time to hit the job pages.

Springblossom2022 · 22/08/2022 18:18

Don't delete that email whatever you do. I'd be taking it to HR if it were me. I had some awful experiences with ex bosses and it's the reason I went self employed. The amount of people who get into senior positions despite being rude, unprofessional bullies absolutely baffles me.

That's unprofessional and completely unacceptable. Though I'm shocked they've said it in an email, most don't let their unprofessionalism slip in a way that creates clear evidence.

Also, if you're on annual leave, it's absolutely not your problem. You come first. Enjoy your time off

frazzledasarock · 22/08/2022 18:20

Why haven’t you got your out of office on?

i sometimes set mine directing people to email manager (depending on how much he has annoyed me).

That's awful, OP. Work shouldn't make you feel like that. I'd be looking for a new job ASAP. Remember, when someone treats you badly it is a reflection on them, NOT you. I'm so sorry you've been made to feel this way Flowers
