Forward of another email re something which has gone wrong whilst I’ve been on annual leave

Then her email to me “this has REALLY PISSED ME OFF - very disappointed”

That old annual leave anxiety is back in full force

Thats unrealisable isn’t it? The email?

What feature would mean cluttered with zombie threads?

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 17/11/2022 11:13

The new ‘you might be interested in’ which from what I can tell just picks threads at random. Then people click on the links and don’t think to check the dates.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 17/11/2022 11:16

Just checked and it’s now called ‘similar threads’ - don’t know if the title is on a cycle. It’s basically suggested threads for further reading.

JustFree · 17/11/2022 11:19

ooh, I'd love to hear from the OP how this play out.

Gumreduction · 17/11/2022 11:21

I go on mumsnet to chew the fat when I have the time

hence not giving a hoot whether it’s a zombie or current. Means very little to me anyway other than a coffee break 🤷‍♀️

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 17/11/2022 11:22

To be fair this thread actually isn’t a Zombie, in my view! It’s only end of August so it’s quite reasonable in terms of time frame IMO. If there’s a limit such as only linking threads from the last 3 months then I think that’s fair enough. I just think having everyone reply to threads from 2007 would be a bit stupid...

Anyway this isn’t Site Stuff so I’m going to stop wittering on!

Sorry for derailing, @Briocche and hope it all worked out okay for you.

JFDIYOLO · 17/11/2022 11:56

Put your out of office on.

Stop working in your own time.

Keep all her emails.

Compose a formal email to her line manager evidencing her language and behaviour towards you.

Explain that being harassed while on holiday with aggressive and threatening overly emotional language creates an unhelpful (unsafe?) atmosphere.

Quote your organisation's own bullying / harassment/ behaviour standards policy.

Express your kind concern for her wellbeing - is everything ok with her? This behaviour might suggest otherwise ...

Request a statement on what will be done about this.

When you ge back, address what went wrong with your team.

Is it a training / communication/ leadership / delegation / coaching issue?

Was it on you? If yes, own it.

Create, share and implement a SMART action plan for ensuring it doesn't happen again.

Be the better professional.

Fgs another old thread

maddy68 · 17/11/2022 12:01

Why are you looking at work emails when on leave ?

On your return to refer this to HR this is unprofessional and bullying behaviour

topcat2014 · 18/11/2022 16:35

I don't subscribe to this idea that I am responsible for my teams failings. If someone ducks up that is 100 % on them.

I am not guilty by association.

My role as a manager is to provide an environment where people don't make mistakes.. but not to take someone else's shit.

VoiceOfCommonSense · 19/11/2022 16:11

EmmaH2022 · 22/08/2022 18:11

Are you checking your work email while off?

yes, it's an awful way to talk to someone. I'm thinking if she talks like that, it's something you had no control over anyway, am I right?

Yep just turn off your emails. That’s what I do when I’m on leave.

Gumreduction · 19/11/2022 16:15

You may not “subscribe” to that belief

but what about the company that you work for?

BCBird · 19/11/2022 16:20

Don't check you've mails when you are off. If you do u are interrupting your holiday and consequently not getting a complete break. I know this is easier to say than do it if this is the pattern you have got into ,believe you me I know cos I've been there but itbis an absolute must. Enjoy the rest of your annual leave

topcat2014 · 20/11/2022 21:01

I have always been fortunate to have great staff. And maybe lucky to work for organisations that didn't follow this outdated idea.

BIWI · 20/11/2022 21:26
