CF Have come to stay - The morning after

SeriouslyLosingTheWill · 19/08/2022 22:33

The first thread is full so I'll start a new one, in case there is a dramatic update in the morning.

I actually feel emotionally drained right now. I keep almost crying. Pathetic. Probably the wine thats doing that.

I'll be going to bed shortly and i'll update tomorrow if theres anything to add. I reckon they will be up early and go quietly though.

They don't drive a ford ranger (I remember that thread! haven't looked at a ford ranger driver the same since!) Its a bmw something or other.

Dp cleared up the kitchen and 1 dc (dd19) came down and helped, so thats all good. She then came out, gave me a little hug and said DP had explained about the food. She then lit up and offered me a cigarette (WTF! I don't smoke and although had an inkling wasn't sure she did) and said no ones perfect, everyone has failings. Honestly i'm in a parallel universe tonight.

Dp has put most of the beers away in the garage, just left in the fridge what was there. I do wonder if they will take them home.

Heres the first one if anyone wants to catch up as not sure I can give a proper summery right now www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4614982-cf-have-come-to-stay-how-to-handle-it?page=23&reply=119364945

🤣🤣 Mea Culpa. It's obvious I haven't read every post.

However, I thought the point of using an acronym in this particular this is because not everybody likes four-letter words spelled out. You've just done so. Twice. It isn't necessary and it's offensive to some.

Mumsnet is pretty well known for swearing and not needing to asterisk words like fucker. CF is really only an abbreviation to save time, not to be coy.

Anyone offended by the word fucker is probably in the wrong place.

skeemee · 19/08/2022 23:22

I can imagine them skipping round Tesco buying all the nice stuff thinking you were paying. They were almost giddy with their purchases when they got back to yours.
The thought of this is hilarious 🤣
Im sure it’s not been v funny for you tho OP.

Howappropriate · 19/08/2022 23:22

You would have ended up in tears at somw point even if you hadn't said anything. So these are brave, honourable tears. And what a story to recount for years to come!

You've done so well, OP! And thanks for all the updates. You are amazing!

To me, the crisps are one of the cheekiest things yet. How does that even work? Even in their own CF minds that they're buying dinner on your behalf and getting things from the "list", they think...what snacks should OP buy for us too? I'm surprised they didn't try to fill up on petrol! Oh, and it was rude to start snacking on crisps right before dinner.

Of course you're feeling bad/weird. It's because you're a nice person! It's not easy to call people out, and the way you did it was absolutely masterful.

rosamacrose · 19/08/2022 23:24

Good luck tomorrow OP.
You and your DP sound lovely, as do your teens.
Well done for maintaining your dignity!

It's understandable that you now feel drained! Your guests have no doubt worn you out but there also the adrenaline/emotional rush of a thread really taking off and the drama of waiting to see What They'll Do Next.

But seriously, you should be proud of yourself. You slayed a few giants today!

HandbagAtDawn · 19/08/2022 23:26

I bet Tesco will be doing a roaring trade in finest steaks, onion rings, and croissants tomorrow.

ThinWomansBrain · 19/08/2022 23:28

We live in a holiday area and after a good few years of this type of nonsense we said to everyone, close family included, that it was a max of 1 person for 3 days.
I bought my flat and had it completely refurbished - got rid of the spare bedroom 😂

BrightBlueFlamingo · 19/08/2022 23:28

On OP don't cry, you sound lovely (and a much better person than me)!!

MatronicO6 · 19/08/2022 23:30

The audacity of these CF's. How do people like this exist?

Fraaahnces · 19/08/2022 23:30

I am so heavily invested. These CF’s are so much like some of my family members!!!

sorcerersapprentice · 19/08/2022 23:31

Is this for real? I'm amazed!

Morechocmorechoc · 19/08/2022 23:31

Wow, didn't know people like this existed!

Onandupw · 19/08/2022 23:31

I can’t wait to hear what they wrote in the note they left you.

LovinglifeAF · 19/08/2022 23:34

Total gits

I’d put all the shopping they bought in my bedroom overnight so they couldn’t take it

cheeky bastards

BornBlonde · 19/08/2022 23:35

You've handled it so well!

Are you not tempted to type up their bill though for the morning!? So you pay £103 and then bill them for

Bed
Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner
"Bar snacks"
Alcohol/room service

The £103 would be a bloody bargain in comparison!!!!

blackpearwhitelilies · 19/08/2022 23:35

Sorry it’s taking its toll, OP. This time tomorrow you’ll be looking back and laughing, I hope.

Coachwork · 19/08/2022 23:36

For those thinking this isn't real they're fortunate never to have been saddled with CF visitors. DH has two sisters, one is definitely a CF. The only time we see her is if we pay for the privilege of her company.
Don't feel bad for them. They had a four night all inclusive break for £104!

Embarrassed22 · 19/08/2022 23:36

Hope she doesn't shit all over your bathroom and wipe turdy fingers on your sofa like my CF did.

Well done for standing your ground OP.

Batmannequin · 19/08/2022 23:37

Hopefully when the mirror or sun inevitably pick this up they'll have some kind of insight into their appalling behaviour. I can imagine hosts up and down the country coming forward with similar stories about the same couple 😂.

HowzAboutIt · 19/08/2022 23:38

So they paid £103 for a 4/5 night stay, all inclusive, at yours?

Absolute bargain! And someone else caring for their DD? Goodness me, they have it made

MsFogi · 19/08/2022 23:40

ZipZapGirl · 19/08/2022 22:36

I'm sure Mrs CF will put a load of wet wipes down the toilet.

Agreed - I think this is your most expensive risk. If it is a shared bathroom I would be in there removing the wet wipes so that they can't be put down the loo tonight/tomorrow. Just claim ignorance if CFW asks where they are.

Starseeking · 19/08/2022 23:40

These people sound awful, I hope they leave quietly tomorrow without also taking the contents of your fridge.
