I know, I am in the wrong because I parked wrong. For 2 minutes only, but nonetheless- wrong.

I was getting back into my car and this lady starts charging at me- I had both my Babies in the car. She starts screaming at me ' you can't park here, you can't park here. ' I put my hands up and say ' I know I'm sorry I'm sorry. ' She continues charging at my car. At this point I got scared and again said 'I am sorry and it won't happen again. '

I jumped into my car and locked the doors and she starts banging on my window, at which point - I again say ' look I understand and I won't park here again'.

Only then did she finally let off and I drove away.

Isn't that a bit of an extreme reaction ? I would never do that. Fair enough if I had got angry back, but I immediately apologised and backed down and she just kept going. She really scared me.

Come on, let's have the rest of the story. What was her personal interest in you having parked there? Anyway, 'no parking' isn't necessarily 'no stopping'.

KarmaStar · 19/08/2022 18:17

It wasn't an emergency but you could have caused one and put your ' babies ' at risk if so.
Double yellow lines are there for the safety of everyone and your excuse is not a defence I would consider.
Why you were scared I do not understand.yabu.

Leedsfan247 · 19/08/2022 18:22

But you parked there for 2 minutes and got your own way - people like you always do. A bit like Boris - the rules don’t apply to you.

Ithinkitsenoughnow · 18/08/2022 20:42

Parking on double yellows is between you and the traffic warden - it’s no one else’s business!

No it's not, it's between you and society. The warden is just the enforcer of society's rules. Yes, it was an over the top reaction, and as others have said, maybe everyone pushes their luck and tries to park there for 2 minutes every 2 minutes. There are areas around us where that happens. Double yellows are gernerally there because parking is dangerous.

cherish123 · 19/08/2022 18:51

You absolutely shouldn't park on double yellows. However, she was OTT.

Boxofsockss · 19/08/2022 18:57

sounds very over the top and intimidating. She’s lucky you walked away as some others would have told her to piss of and be as intimidating to her as she was to you.

SpeakingMyThoughts · 19/08/2022 19:17

You were in the wrong.

Why bother what an angry woman says?

Does it matter?
Why are you even recalling the scenario?
Just love and look after the babies and get thicker skin.
(Perhaps the other lady has an ugly husband)
Whatever the lady’s problem, it’s not your problem)

Yourcatisnotsorry · 19/08/2022 19:40

She’s batshit.
you probably weren’t even wrong to stop
and deal with your babies. You weren’t parked at all. Parking is stopping and exiting the car. You can’t stop on red lines (loads in London) but you can stop at double yellows (I have them outside my house, delivery drivers drop stuff all the time). Sounds like you were making sure you could drive safely by dealing with an upset baby/distraction. Ignore the haters someone was horrible to you for no reason.

There is some seriously pathetic people on here YANBU

flowerpowder · 19/08/2022 07:55

Apparently I deserved it entirely !! She could have just said - ' don't park here, it's dangerous ' or whatever. She should have backed off as soon as she could see I was profusely apologising, but she continued. Not OK. And not OK that people say I actually deserved that. But hey ho. One day she'll act like that with the wrong person and she'll pay the price for it.

i don’t think anyone is saying that you deserved the response. There are ways of expressing yourself that don’t make us feel small or intimidated. That said, I don’t think you can say that one day she will “pay the price for it”, as that just sounds like wishful thinking on your side. How about if she said it about you? It’s not true. Neither of you deserve that. You were both in the wrong it seems to me. All the best

TeddybearBaby · 19/08/2022 19:56

Why did she care? I can’t imagine giving a shit about where someone else was parked. Was she / someone / something blocked in?

Why such a lot of female-victim-specific assaults? Punching in the tits, slamming in the fanny… this is very very odd and quite a disturbing place for your mind to have gone.

threatmatrix · 19/08/2022 20:25

Because she fevking felt like it. Have you never ever done anything wrong. I wouldn’t have even noticed something so benign to my life but I do realise that people nowadays are just looking for something to shout about.

threatmatrix · 19/08/2022 20:26

I think you are missing the satire of this comment. Jeez 🤦🏼‍♀️

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 19/08/2022 20:30

Yeah no, satire might be hyperbolic violence, that was just suddenly jinking off into the oddly sexual.

TrashPandas · 19/08/2022 20:37

flowerpowder · 18/08/2022 20:43

Seriously never doing that again. Freaked me out big time !

It worked then. Good for her!

Is there a reason why the violence you would do to her would be to her tits and fanny? God these raging misogynists get everywhere!

Wait until the day when you are blocked in or made late because of someone entitled thinking they can park somewhere they shouldn't and then let's see if you give a shit.

For 2 minutes? Really?

Lots of people are saying this but a stonking great truck can legally use the same space for the best part of an hour to load/unload.

What's the argument for being late or blocked in when people are doing things legally?

balalake · 19/08/2022 21:11

Right to complain, but in the wrong way.

maryberryslayers · 19/08/2022 21:16

What is wrong with people!! The poor OP didn't technically even park, she just pulled over to grab something for her baby for all of 2 minutes!!! Given you are legally allowed to pull over to drop someone off on double yellows, which could involve grabbing bags out of the boot etc and could easily take 2 minutes.
The crazy lady was very much in the wrong OP, particularly for banging on your window.
As you say the next person she picks on might not take too kindly to it.

Westpoint · 19/08/2022 21:32

I would have told her she was a fruit loop (like most of the posters on this thread).

Frankly, the only people who get to police my driving is, well........the police! Certainly not some unstable random.

Skodacool · 19/08/2022 21:40

Double yellow lines do not always mean a total ban on stopping

RachaelN · 19/08/2022 22:01

They are there for a reason. Disabled badge users can use them for a short period of time if safe to do so.
However there was no need for her to be aggressive with her reaction.
