Anyone else sick to death of the heat?

I know there have been numerous threads on this already but OMG, I cannot taking this sodding heat any more. I actually feel sick today because it's so oppressive and I can't get anything done around the house, which is like a furnace. Normally it's like this for a few days in the summer before cooling again, but it's been about six weeks of intense heat now in the south-east.

It's looking like tomorrow is the last of it thankfully - I sodding well hope so.

Anyone else completely fed-up?

Yep, fed up of not being able to sleep. Pregnant and irritable and feel sick. I'm fed up walking around the house wearing practically nothing (although DH is loving it!). Fed up of eating nothing but salad and picky bits, I want a roast dinner. I can't wait to wear jeans and a big jumper again, bring on autumn!

Amdone123 · 14/08/2022 15:25

@TeddyTonks , it's not a pity party. You have my empathy. Keep as cool as you can, rest as best you can and take care ❤

It’s horrible. There’s a thread on here about someone who’s partner can’t function in the heat. And some people aren’t very nice about him.

l can’t do anything except sit and wish it was over. I’m sick of being a boiling hot sweaty mess

Does anyone have a link to that thread? I'd like to have a read as I feel like I can barely function either. It's horrible.

Yes. I had a hysterectomy recently and in surgical menopause so every night is one long night sweat, also still undergoing medical treatment and it would be really great for my health if I could sleep more than an hour at a time. Today I went out for a walk very early then have pretty much given up doing anything since.

dreammattemousse · 14/08/2022 15:28

It's absolutely horrific and if I wasn't so tied to where I live I would be on Rightmove looking at properties in Scotland

I am done

MomwasCasual · 14/08/2022 15:29

I usually love summer and the warm weather, but as a milky skinned, peri menopausal Celt this is just too much.

We've just had an hour down at the canal, letting the dog have a swim in the lovely shade, as it's way to hot to actually walk her. I swear to god I nearly joined her- murky canal water has never looked so tempting!

I feel like it's ruined the kids school holidays;we've not been able to do much after we've spent most of it in 28+ degree heat but 30+ has made things unbearable.

One of children has a medical condition that causes heat intolerance which hasn't been fun for them as their really struggling;I'm dreading it;hot summers like this usually cause a warm September/October then lead into a horrifically cold winter sort of skipping autumn

This. I feel like I can't do a lot of things I want to because it's too hot. It's so frustrating.

As someone else said, it's also really depressing to see the garden, the parks and the countryside looking so scorched and miserable.

I really like it. Sleeping at night is a pain but I'm enjoying the days

sickofthisshite000 · 14/08/2022 15:31

My head seems to sweat a lot too - I woke up this morning with a damp pillow from sweating so much overnight. Horrible.

9 months pregnant. Fuck this shit. The worst of it is I know I'm better to stay pregnant than try to birth, breastfeed and keep cool a newborn in this heat. Also still suffering the after effects of a really bad bout of covid and have 2 other DC to chase 🥵 #pityparty

God I don't blame you in this case. I would die

Topseyt123 · 14/08/2022 15:31

I love nice, bright and sunny weather, but not these oppressive temperatures. 25⁰ C is much more pleasant.

Everywhere is totally parched around here too, and desperate for some rain. Our lawn is like a straw patch.

KyaClark · 14/08/2022 15:32

I'm so ready for jumper season.

Yes a million times. I had the week off work and I’m furious as I’ve wasted it because I’ve done literally nothing but sit in front of fans and feel miserable. I’m moving up north, I’ve had enough!

Bloody hot in Manchester too.

I might move to Reykjavik

Chakraleaf · 14/08/2022 15:32

I hate it.

Looks hot till end of week in suffolk.

SynchOrSwim · 14/08/2022 15:33

Anyone have any idea when it will cool down? It still says mid 20s every day for the next two weeks here, better that 30s but I'm so over it!

Dreaming of back to school, Halloween, dark evenings, wet leaves, hats, coats, boots, scarves, autumnal walks, roast dinners and yes to the opaque tights!

1ittlegreen · 14/08/2022 15:33

I dread heatwaves, so much so that I am about to exchange on a house up North (from London).

2017 was when I first noticed the heat was stifling and I have bought all sorts of fans etc but nothing makes it better. Even bought a neck fan which is good but impractical!

It may sound extreme but I think I'm perimenopausal as well as being on sertraline which makes my head sweat. It's gross and I feel grumpy all the time. Would love to join your pity party!

Moving to a cooler climate was all I could think of and as my family live there I can consistently see it is cooler than London. Yes there may be the odd few days over 30 but nothing like the canned heat of London.

ilyx · 14/08/2022 15:34

Yep. Atleast summer is nearly over.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just buy an aircon machine on Amazon? That’s what I’m going to do next summer.

MrsR87 · 14/08/2022 15:36

Me! 36 weeks pregnant and so done with the heat! I also spent a couple of days in the antenatal ward in this heat and that was horrendous! Hotter than hell!

JubileeTissues · 14/08/2022 15:36

No I love it.

billy1966 · 14/08/2022 15:36

Totally over it.

kegofcoffee · 14/08/2022 15:36

Same.

Sick of being shut inside for most the day with a toddler and a baby. Sick of so little sleep cos they are too hot. Sick of still having to run around doing housework.

I don't deal well with heat, I get lethargic and dizzy.

ClaudineClare · 14/08/2022 15:37

I love it in lots of ways, but wish the nights were cooler. Will be back to normal (ish, still very little rain forecast) from tomorrow!

Goonergirl14 · 14/08/2022 15:37

I am in Scotland though in the Central Belt and the weather has been unbearable for weeks, just have no energy to do anything and need to get kids' stuff ready for going back to school in 3 days!

hattie43 · 14/08/2022 15:38

Yes absolutely.
Feels like life is on hold , we can't do anything we normally would . Spending all our time cooling the dogs down .
