To ask if and when you take off your wedding/engagement rings?

This is not an exciting post. 😂

I was engaged for a year and took my engagement ring off whenever I was home. Only put it on when I was leaving the house.

I’ve been married a few weeks and have been doing the same with my wedding ring. I’ve noticed that DH never takes his off, though. I’m contemplating doing the same, but I’m wondering if it’s a ‘thing’.

What do you do? Leave them on all the time? Take them off for cooking? Showers? When you wash your hands?

And I have just realised I am not currently wearing it either. 😂

Mine are off for the moment as the hot weather has made my fingers swell. That's the first time in 26 years apart from the times I gave birth

It's more normal to wear a wedding ring continuously and an engagement ring for special occasions if it's a large sharp one. I work as a nurse so can't wear an engagement ring.

I only ever wear mine when I'm leaving the house. I hate the feeling of rings on my fingers!!!

May until September.

I rarely take mine off. I have done for surgical procedures because you are asked to. Also like a PP for making pastry as they get all gummed up otherwise!

I don't take them off for sleeping, showering, washing up etc. Maybe I should because I did once lose one of the small diamonds from my eternity ring. But I'm quite forgetful and clumsy so I thought the risk of walking off and leaving the rings and/or them getting knocked off their little dish and behind a cupboard or into a gap in the floorboards seemed much higher!

H keeps his wedding ring on all the time which surprised me initially because he hated wearing a watch because the feeling annoyed him. (He does also wear a watch now though.)

I gave up wearing mine many many years ago.

Still married but I don't feel the need to broadcast that I'm "taken" to the world at large.

I never take off my rings ... my husband does in winter when playing sports as they are looser and may fall off

xogossipgirlxo · 08/08/2022 10:39

For showering, sleeping and housekeeping duties. Actually, I don't think I wore mine this weekend. My husband barely wears his.

AryaStarkWolf · 08/08/2022 10:41

I take them off at night before I go to bed because I don't like sleeping with jewelry on, other than that I wear it except if I'm doing certain things like manual work where they could get damaged or could be dangerous, i take it off to have a shower or when I'm swimming too

illiterato · 08/08/2022 10:52

Hardly ever wear them if I'm honest. Not sure why but as context I don't wear any other jewellery normally either - if I'm going out and put some on, I put my wedding and engagement rings on too. Dh wears his all the time.
