The idiot has put ‘the lionesses have only gone and done it and Kelly is England’s heroine bra none’. Why did he feel the need for a sexist quip about the goal celebration? So embarrassing.

I sort of think treating women badly is sexist. So, yeah, I'm going to stand by my comment.

Talking of the tweet, to which you refer: kudos to the woman, who made the same mistake as you, and pulled Lineker up for sexism. She was corrected by many tweeters. I would have deleted my ignorant post. Good job Lineker deleted his to save all the snowflakery crap he had to endure.

I don't think he's sexist because of his tweet. 😂😂😂 He just mentioned the word bra. Unnecessary but not unexpected and not particularly offensive to me.
No, I'm informed by his past behaviour (and by a friend who was a sports journalist for a national newspaper) that he's a sleazy, awful man.

I think it was more of an obvious play on words than sexism, bar, bra! Not everything is an ism!

The tweet was a (mildly) humorous pun, and I don't believe it was, or was meant to be, sexist. I also believe the tweet was deleted to get rid of some of the replies that were truly shameful and sexist, and not because he was ashamed of his original tweet or didn't like some of the over-the-top criticism.

Going back a few years remembering other humorous but non-sexist sports comments which might upset snowflakes:
"The bowler's Holding the batsman's Willey" which resulted in a complaint to the BBC from "Tess Tickle"
"There goes Juantorena down the back straight, opening his legs and showing his class"

Ah, those good old days. Class puns they were.

Honestly if people are offended by his comments they really need get a life if that's all they have to worry about.

'Bra none' is the sort of joke my ExFiL would say while looking around the room for the laughs he felt should be coming his way. Very end of the pier. Especially the stony silence part.

Don't think Mr Lineker said anything untoward to be honest. It's exactly the sort of humour he uses with the men. And I also believe he is a big supporter of women's football ⚽⚽
