Prince George went with Kate and William to watch a match.. What a shame Princess Charlotte isn't there...!

Why? Because she's a girl and it's women's football? or perhaps, loads like football so she must love it too? Because you would have taken your kids?

So what she wasn't there....... He was there, they had someone flying the royal flag so no need for Charlotte to be there.

I guess that is a matter of opinion.

Imagine in other types of oppression, when the first award is given after thousands of years, that the award is given by someone who represents the oppressor.

to have a female member of the royal family hand it out would have gone a long way towards reparation. It was a sadly lost chance.

yesterday was amazing but going by some of the opinions here, there is still a long way to go.

It’s not the first award. The Women’s Euros have been running for decades. It’s just the first time that England have won it.

Yesterday was great but it’s a victory specific to England (which you would hope will benefit women’s sport in England).

What if the child is not into football? Should they be dragged to an evening event, perhaps well past their bedtime to make sure you are entertained? 🙄

SarahSissions · 01/08/2022 19:53

There was a bit of a backlash following all of the jubilee and Prince George at Wimbledon. Think they are giving the little ones a break.

rosemarysageandthyme · 01/08/2022 20:04

She prefers rugby

LoveComedy · 01/08/2022 20:53

I cannot remember how old she is, but it may be too long for her to sit and watch with possibly the eyes of the world on her?

LoveComedy · 01/08/2022 20:55

Agree with you.

Tessabelle74 · 01/08/2022 21:50

@Daysy Prince William is president of the FA hence why he gave out the award 🙄

Blacksheepcat · 01/08/2022 23:15

I was surprised that Kate wasn’t there tbh…. Would’ve been nice to see the whole family there supporting England in the final.

DadBodAlready · 02/08/2022 04:00

Then you should also ask the question why every father with a daughter didn't take their daughter to the final.
Why are you looking to create issues where there are none?

MsBucket · 02/08/2022 04:22

Goneback2school · 31/07/2022 19:55

I've a 7 Yr old dd and while she's as sporty as they come, plays 3 team sports, runs and swims, she would have 0 interest in watching a full length adults match.

Exactly. All of that fuss over nothing.

Not sure if this is meant as a tongue-in-cheek comment. I sometimes find it difficult to tell the difference.

If you are being serious then I’m genuinely curious. Why is it so important for them to be all there? Does everyone go as a family to watch a football match? Or is this expectation just reserved for the Cambridge family?

BirdWatch · 02/08/2022 06:05

She probably didn't want to go. I hated sports, and still don't give a .... about them.

Purple52 · 02/08/2022 06:36

I don’t think it’s based on wants or desires!

She’s very young & aren’t their age limits (guides) on official engagements? Especially with only one parent.

there seemed to be amazement George is starting to attend events. Charlotte younger.

Flutterbybudget · 02/08/2022 08:09

I suppose you’re right, they COULD have taken her
But I’m not sure why you think they SHOULD have
If it’s because “we” wanted to see her, then yes YABU
I suspect that William remembers as well as I do, they way that he and Harry were paraded in public, at every photo opportunity, and it’s very clear that he doesn’t want that for his children.
If it’s because you think that the team would have liked to see her, I really don’t think they were too worried about it tbh. Their interest would have been far more in the 1000s who wanted to go, and who were there, and watching on TV than the ones who weren’t interested.
I have no idea whether Charlotte is interested in football or not. I have no idea whether one of her school friends had a birthday party that she decided she’d prefer to attend. I have no idea whether she was due to go but was sick as they were walking out of the door. She’s a 7 year old, who will be living the majority of her life in the public eye. Poor kid.

Sartre · 02/08/2022 08:16

She might just not like football which is perfectly ok. I don’t like football so not interested in this in the same way I’m never interested when it’s men.

Shallistayorshalligo · 02/08/2022 08:23

They did not manage to get her a ticket. Are you aware that the tickets were sold out😁

ajandjjmum · 02/08/2022 08:58

If you read the thread, you'll see that William told the Lionesses on a previous vist that Charlotte likes football, and is 'good in goal'. Charlotte asked her Dad to tell them that.

So for all the reasons that she didn't go - which I'm sure are all relevant - it's not because she only likes horse riding/rugby/dance - she does like football!!!

Flutterbybudget · 02/08/2022 09:35

Can you REALLY imagine William telling the Lionesses that Charlotte hates football and would rather have her nails polished?
Theres a massive difference between having fun kicking a ball around in the garden for ten minutes and sitting through a 2 hr match/ presentation ceremony, especially fir a 7 year old.

No I can't - but if that were the case, I can certainly imagine him saying nothing. I don't think he would lie about his daughter having an interest, if she had none.

I agree with you that sitting through the match would have been too much for her.

lot123 · 02/08/2022 12:29

I'm pretty relaxed but, given they've take George to a few sporting events over the summer, I was surprised William didn't take Charlotte given the RF are acutely aware of the optics.

LoveLarry · 02/08/2022 15:28

Ah well, OP should be happy that she's at swimming now with her parents

Plenty opportunity now for fawning

Apparently they were at the hockey today too and currently at the gymnastics !

XingMing · 02/08/2022 15:52

Princess Charlotte is at the Commonwealth Games today!

Misty333 · 02/08/2022 16:17

She probably doesn’t enjoy watching football whether it’s girls playing or boys and shouldn’t be made to go just because she’s the daughter of Prince William. There is plenty of time when she is older to support whatever sport she is interested in.
