Prince George went with Kate and William to watch a match.. What a shame Princess Charlotte isn't there...!

Have you somehow missed the thousands of years of women’s oppression at the hands of the patriarchy

Not an excuse for someones wife to randomly hand out a trophy.

chilliesandspices · 01/08/2022 11:01

It's a very long game, she's very young and the media would have had eyes on her constantly. Maybe they wanted to avoid the photos of Charlotte looking a bit bored or distracted when the papers could be full of photos of the players instead.

No - but I think a female president of the FA would be better than the male president's wife handing out the trophy. As I said, I imagine it will be a while before that happens, precisely because of sexism. But I don't think the solution is for his wife to do it.

I guess that is a matter of opinion.

Imagine in other types of oppression, when the first award is given after thousands of years, that the award is given by someone who represents the oppressor.

to have a female member of the royal family hand it out would have gone a long way towards reparation. It was a sadly lost chance.

yesterday was amazing but going by some of the opinions here, there is still a long way to go.

Oh for goodness sake! Let them raise their own kids without the nation butting in. Charlotte like many other little girls seems to be more into ponies. Let her have the freedom to enjoy what she likes without every other suburban mom having an opinion about it.

So you're suggesting that the wife has no choice in the matter? Never mind that she has something else arranged on that day?

Clearly there's no end to wife work, even if (especially if?) you're married into royalty.

Daysy · 01/08/2022 11:27

Strange interpretation.

Maybe she had a birthday party at the local soft play followed by Maccy D’s like many other 7 year olds 😉

Pizza Express, Woking, surely!

jacks11 · 01/08/2022 11:36

Oh dear. Do you have some sort of insider knowledge that Charlotte was desperate to attend the match but was told she couldn’t go as she was a girl? I expect that you don’t know either way. What I would say is that it’s a bit odd to assume everyone loves watching football. Many people do, obviously, but lots of us aren’t that keen.

Is it not perfectly possible that Charlotte isn’t very interested in football? Why do you assume that she is but was denied the opportunity to attend?

Just as many boys (and men) prefer other sports, so do many girls and women. Personally, I’m really not interested in football and wouldn’t have wanted to go at any age. My daughter will watch rugby but would not thank you for tickets to a football match. Horses for courses.

She has expressed an interest in football. During a recent meeting PW told the lionesses that she wanted him to tell them that she's very good in goal.
Still, it's a different level of interest to one required to watch 2 hours of professional football.

Oh I’m more than happy for the monarchy to be abolished.

MandyRice · 01/08/2022 12:18

I imagine they keep these sorts of big events to a minimum as far as possible (quite rightly) so if she wasn’t keen to go, they were right not to take her. The video was more than enough.

Sunshineona · 01/08/2022 12:22

If she wanted to go, they’d have taken her.

Football crowds get incredibly noisy, and many kids have sensitive ears, after the noise levels their kids were subjected to at the Jubilee I expect Will and Kate only took the child that actively wanted to go to the football.

Sunshineona · 01/08/2022 12:23

Ps I can’t stand noisy events and have zero interest in football, I’d have hated to go.

hummerbird · 01/08/2022 12:33

We don't employ children! Not even Windsors.
Leave them alone to make their own decisions about infants.

KarmaStar · 01/08/2022 14:00

Ridiculous post of july.

Thefsm · 01/08/2022 18:12

Maybe she had a conflict? Horse riding class or something? Maybe she is grounded for doing something naughty. Maybe they told her how long a football game is and she made the sensible decision to do literally anything else instead.

they are kids. They don’t owe us anything. I’m sure if she had asked to attend her dad would have taken her.

LifesTooShortForYourNonsense · 01/08/2022 18:16

YABU it’s not your business, just as his opinion of where you take your children is none of his.

MaggieMagpie357 · 01/08/2022 18:27

YABU.
William was there in a professional capacity as head of the Football Association. Do you take your kids to work with you?

luckylavender · 01/08/2022 18:36

Ponoka7 · 31/07/2022 17:38

Do we know that she has any interest in football? Apparently she's a keen horse rider. If she isn't interested I'm glad that they didn't force her to go. I thought that too much was asked of them during the jubilee. She sent a video message which was enough.

She's a very keen footballer

bellabasset · 01/08/2022 18:47

With Kate in Plymouth and the pre match and after match celebrations in a crowd of 90,000 and William on duty it wouldn't be practical to take Charlotte and George. But they might well have had a football party at home with their cousins and Kate joining in when she got home.

RockyReef · 01/08/2022 19:06

I'm more surprised Prince George wasn't there as he plays football and is a big football fan apparently (why should only girls be interested in women's football - by that token should girls NOT be interested in watching mens football? Of course not!). I'm pretty certain Princess Charlotte is into riding and I can imagine that the reason she didn't go would be more than likely because she has no interest in football. There's a big difference between appearing on your dad's short video to wish a team well, and wanting to sit through over 100 minutes of football! Anyway, as PG wasn't there and Catherine is sailing in Plymouth I presume the children are on holiday somewhere with their nanny enjoying the summer hols.

Tessabelle74 · 01/08/2022 19:09
