Just that really. When we have a choice of spanking out £650+ in January for gas and electric or slowly freezing, will people will be less sympathetic to 'green' measures?

Will net zero go out the window when we realise how bloody miserable it is to live without modern comforts and there is civil unrest as a result?

Climate change means more extreme weather. Not that the winter will be milder. It might be harder and colder, there might be more storms and floods. None of which Britain is probably prepared for.

The Gulf Stream moderates our climate. Without it we can expect hot summers and cold winters.

Even better, you can travel on overnight sleepers and spend a day in each city.

Same as in medicine - treatments change with increasing knowledge, we get better outcomes with more knowledge

Of course business will use climate change to drive profits, EV cars for example - why not hydrogen? or oil companies and their so called Green agenda :( as will Govts to increase taxes.

But for me, climate change is real because of the rate of change, European & S.American glaciers all but gone, de forestation, pretty soon the Amazon will tip into a desert and be emitting Co2, then there is the permafrost in Russia, underground fires and melting at rates never seen before.

If we try, we can slow things down, giving us time to put in adaptions but if we do nothing (what you suggest) then we condemn ourselves to a very uncertain future.

However, i think we will go for the "Do nothing approach"

I think the key here is that whilst climate change is cyclical,we are polluting our planet regardless. You only have to look at news stories of plastic/ fast fashion waste.

Of course people care about climate change! Especially younger people who are going to live through negative changes.

In much of the rest of the world people are living through those changes now.

They do not, no one does on any meaningful scale, let alone our leaders who constantly talk about "Growth"

Look at the millions driving or flying to go on the twice yearly holiday? or the rush to buy the latest hi gadgets.

I used to go out with a climate scientist, he said that climate change was irreversible by the 70s....however, that doesn't mean we cannot mitigate the change.

Apparently 44% of british people want a referendum on the net zero targets.... we need to have a complete overhaul of our education system and stop producing so many thick people... i mean these are people who (if done correctly) don't want more jobs, more industry, warmer homes, cleaner air, cheaper energy......

The way forward really is for the population to decline, there are just too many of us. We are too good at surviving and the world has become too developed.

The only way to really sort it would be some sort of awful dystopian future with few people allowed to breed and no resources used on anyone unless they were of use. Strict rationing and full state control. But as ever it would be four legs good two legs bad.
