AIBU to shove this paper plate up the Vinted seller’s arse?

Ordered some Nike Air Jordan’s for my DD’s birthday from Vinted.

The package arrived today, except what I actually received was a folded up paper plate in a tiny mailing bag.

Please reassure me that I haven’t lost all my money because I can’t afford to get her anything else. Have just reported to Vinted. I know on eBay it’s easy enough for sellers to scam people by sending an empty box or whatever so I’m hoping this isn’t the same.

Well this would definitely be more of an issue if it happened to my child with asd than if it happened to one of his brothers 🤷‍♀️

@VintedShminted just checked my banking app and I have a payment for amount I spent via mangopay which from Google is Vinteds 'bank' so hopefully clears soon!

I was wondering this but maybe they're banking on people being away/not checking properly/having more money than sense.

I suppose if they send 20 paper plates out and 2 people don't report an issue within the 48 hour timeframe then that's £150.

So glad you got a good outcome @VintedShminted it's just crap you had to go through the disappointment and annoyance!!

I do buy and sell frequently on Vinted and the few times it has gone wrong hasn't put me off so I wouldn't write it totally off. But then I also haven't bought anything high end which might make a difference to the likelihood of getting scammers!

There are laws relating to Fraud and Theft which allow the Police in England & Wales to pursue fraud. A friend was ripped off for £5,000 for a vehicle someone fraudulently sold - the desk officer at his local police station told him that "it's not the sort of thing we get involved with."
Now that there are enough paper plate victims to make up a couple of football teams, are there any clues from tracking that tell you where items were posted/dispatched from?

No refund yet here. They have responded asking to see a close up of the label (which was clearly visible in my other photos). My seller has already been blocked so am guessing someone else reported them too. Going to reverse the transaction if not sorted today. Not sure I’ll use Vinted again.
In response to those asking why-I guess a lot of people are on hol at the moment and if they have the parcel delivered to their address it easily passes through a letterbox and they may miss the 2 day deadline to raise an issue and the seller gets the cash. I know that with mine on Evri the delivery date kept changing and the address was wrong so maybe that’s all part of adding to the confusion. I’m relived I got mine delivered to a delivery point and opened it in front of the assistant on cctv

@Hereforthedramaz no haven’t found any others but I think she’s decided to get other stuff with the refund money and wait until Christmas for trainers.

@Wobblechops That’s odd, I wonder why they are asking for further information from you? Hopefully once they have that they will just refund, and if not I hope your bank is more helpful than mine who said they wouldn’t be able to do anything for 15 days after my first contact with Vinted. Apparently because I had previously used Vinted it counts as a disputed transaction rather than fraud 🤷‍♀️

I know, really annoying. Haven’t used Vinted before and not very impressed so far!

Hi vintedshminted, have just come on to ask if you have got your refund and I see you have, that's great. I have got mine too.
I just need to remember not to break my own rule of not ordering from someone with no feedback, unless it's just for a few pounds in the future. Here's hoping everyone else gets theirs

That’s great news @Flamingmentalcats, haven’t actually got the money yet but it’s on its way. I think that’s a sensible rule to have!

I have had the money back on my vinted account that was used and hopefully rest will be back on my card next week.

Gald to hear others are sorted. I reported on Monday and despite numerous messages have only received 1 reply from Vinted which was asking for a close up of the label. Must depend who you get-my experience is really poor

@sooz3101 I saw your post before it was deleted. Sorry this has happened to you too, luckily you shouldn’t have any trouble getting your money back from Vinted.

It wasn’t an actual address that was on the label, not my address or anywhere where I live. It was delivered to the local pick up point but the address on the label was made up 🧐
