Did I just win the award for most 'I can't be fucked' tea for my DC?

I've been working overtime today, exhausted, feel like shit.

My 3 year old had a plate of corned beef, cheese and sweetcorn for his tea.

Did I just win the award for most 'that'll do' tea?

He quite enjoyed it tbf! He asked for more.

Ready for today to be done 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Corned beef is sold in France @Splicebaked .
Years ago dh’s dm made Monday night dinner with cold meat from the Sunday roast and mashed potatoes. Had to be something easy after a day of doing laundry in a twin tub. The original cba dinner.
My dm worked so we made our own. My favourite was a Vesta curry.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 25/07/2022 20:30

Corned beef that's very dated

No it's not. I love corned beef! In sandwiches... or with chips and pickled onions... corned beef hash...

ticktickticktickBOOM · 25/07/2022 20:31

When I had covid I gave my son alcohol free kopperberg and 3 chocolate digestives for breakfast.

I think that was the darkest depths of my food related parenting

mumda · 25/07/2022 20:32

All sounds fine.

Many years ago a boyfriend's mum made me marmalade and marathon sandwiches because that's what I really liked.

I'd have to have the spaghetti hoops warm else the compulsory cheese doesn't melt.

My favourite can't be bothered dinner was pasta with cheese, tomatoes and sweetcorn mixed in. I sometimes browned under the grill and called it 'pasta bake'

That was my 'making an effort' meal Grin

I’m just here for the posters saying “I know what you mean! Last week I was so lazy I just gave the children a 3 course supper of smoked salmon roulade, beef wellington with slow cooked duck fat potatoes, and a tarte tatin. Shamed to admit I bought the potatoes from the shop although everything else was homemade including sourcing the duck fat from our ladies in the garden. Feeling so ashamed of cutting corners instead of our usual 8 course tudor banquet! Lol!”

🤣

And my DD is quite partial to a cold McDonald's

Corned beef that's very dated I thought they stopped selling that stuff years ago along with spam.

I'm impressed your DC even ate it

As for a meal it's fine tbh

Why are you impressed at someone eating tinned corned beef? It’s food of the gods!

WithRosesAroundTheDoor · 25/07/2022 20:35

My little one (2) has a stomach bug and hasn't wanted to eat all day. I just really wanted him to eat at teatime so gave him anything that he said "yes to".
Tea ended up being half a bag of skips, a chunk of cheddar and a mini bar of chocolate.

I really hope that it stays down. 😞

Alcohol free kopperberg and digestives for breakfast hands down wins 😂

Protein and veg? Get out of it! That’s not even a contender for a can’t be fucked tea.

Had to laugh at this - I think this one is the winner !

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 25/07/2022 20:38

I’m here for tips and ideas too!

I used to love corned beef as a child - I wonder if my two would eat it…

BlackForestCake · 25/07/2022 20:39

When I was a kid my mum once plonked a plate down in front of me with four sausages on it, nothing else.

The poor woman must have been exhausted that day.

PeloAddict · 25/07/2022 20:39

I had sorbet last week. That was it Grin was too hot
Cereal is another I CBA tea
Beige tea - usually potato waffles, chicken dippers and beans
Fried egg sandwich

doubleshotcappuccino · 25/07/2022 20:40

DS has SEN and texture of food is huge and he obsessed about where the food is from... but I can get away with potato croquettes sometimes as my short cut tea .. however he insists they have to be cooked in the oven .. BUT inspired by this thread .. I microwaved them and have watched him devour the lot whilst sipping on a g and t feeing like we just both won ..

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 25/07/2022 20:42

I stuck some hotdogs in a microwave and had them in a.sandwich 😂

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 25/07/2022 20:44

Mine are grown up now but Smash with dairylea cheese melted into it and slices of scabby ham.
They survived.
