I've been working overtime today, exhausted, feel like shit.

My 3 year old had a plate of corned beef, cheese and sweetcorn for his tea.

Did I just win the award for most 'that'll do' tea?

He quite enjoyed it tbf! He asked for more.

Ready for today to be done 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

@Freckledot there is no amount of hard boiled eggs I couldn't eat!

With a sprinkling of salt!

Same here, eggs that is (check the spelling 😉)

@Freckledot 🤦‍♀️

Freckledot · 27/07/2022 19:26

@hesttreat sorry😂

hesttreat · 27/07/2022 19:27

@Freckledot at least we agree on egg consumption!

Here's a good one for you all, get a packet of gnocchi and do a quick boil, add some cooked chopped bacon and throw in some chopped broccoli. Cover in cheese and bake 😎

I mean, it sounds lovely. But you’ve got boiling, chopping and baking going on there. That is not a CBA meal.

Frankly, if you need to wash more than a single piece of crockery after your CBA meal, you’ve got a battle on your hands to have it included.

Potato waffles in the toaster, dipped in tomato ketchup - that’d count!

@RobertsRadio
Gypsy tart? Is that the one with pastry, jam, sponge and dessicated coconut served with Birds custard? 🙏

That was coconut tart.
Bakewell tart is pastry base, jam, Almond flavoured sponge pudding with flaked almonds on top. Or icing.
Maids of Honour are smaller individual bun tin sized tartlets, similar to Bakewell tart. Pastry base, jam, sponge mixture spooned on top then baked then iced with glacé icing.
Manchester Tart: Pastry base, jam on the bottom, filled with a thick custard type filling, coconut sprinkled on top with a big cherry in the middle. .

We love corned beef in this house!
And I sometimes buy a catering tin of spam, cut it into burger sized widths and fry it and have in a bun, sooooo tasty!

PyongyangKipperbang · 27/07/2022 23:27

Mentioned this to my mum yesterday and she said that we never had CBA dinners as children. She did have the decency to look defiant and obviously lying! So I said to DD (11) who was with us that no we didnt, Grandma always made a proper dinner, it was just a shame it was always sodding mince and boiled potatoes, Grandma told DD to look away as Mummy was about to get a thick ear (another common themed of my childhood) 😄

WendellGeez · 27/07/2022 23:31

My mum was a nursery school teacher and one evening she served up cold spaghetti noodles that had been dyed various lurid colours for our dinner.
TBF she did make a hot sauce to go with it — it was more about her absolute refusal to throw anything usable away, rather than her not being arsed.

WendellGeez · 27/07/2022 23:34

@CanneBFucked do you mean the corned beef from a tin, or the other kind that you boil for several hours? If the latter please tell me where I can buy some!

RicherThanYew · 28/07/2022 00:57

But but... gnocchi has carbs and they're evil (so I'm told), bacon has evil nitrates and cheese isn't great for you. I thought I'd be roasted for that for a while different reason 😂
If we're being scorched earth honest, my CBA dinner is ordering a take away and making my kid answer the door.

HeathenPlayingHouse · 28/07/2022 12:06

@User272617 Yes! You're the first message I've read where someone prefers it with beetroot over brown sauce!

HeathenPlayingHouse · 28/07/2022 12:07

@User272617
Just saw you like the brown sauce as well... but still! 😂

slithytoveisascientist · 28/07/2022 16:39

We do this about once a fortnight, they adore it 😂

My girls were watching some rubbish on tv and a character in this programme was eating a crisp sandwich..... anyway, roll onto this evening and that's what they requested... never had one before but I am exhausted from having my 2 kids and my friends 3 kids at the park all day and could not think of anything worse than cooking... turns out it's their new favourite thing.... seems like these summer holidays are going to be a dream on the food front 🤣😂

You need to get pickled onion monster munch! That's like high tea sandwich!

BettyBoops · 28/07/2022 21:12

My kids favourite cba dinner is pasta meatballs (the cheap tinned ones) and some grated cheese (a bag of grated cheese - not grating it myself far too much effort 😅)
Always goes down a treat!
