Did I just win the award for most 'I can't be fucked' tea for my DC?

I've been working overtime today, exhausted, feel like shit.

My 3 year old had a plate of corned beef, cheese and sweetcorn for his tea.

Did I just win the award for most 'that'll do' tea?

He quite enjoyed it tbf! He asked for more.

Ready for today to be done 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

We're having tapas aka fridge dump on table and say 'hola' when we all sit down

😂

Gensola · 25/07/2022 21:14

Gnocchi from those vacuum packs in Lidl with pesto and more grated cheese over the top here. Takes less than 5 mins and everyone likes it!

Mooboo3 · 25/07/2022 21:14

Chicken nugget pizza!
tomato on toast
some great ideas here!

It’s not caviar as in real fine caviar though, it’s salted cod row in like a tooth paste tube. 😂 It’s a very Swedish thing, hence the reference you might find it if you go to Ikea.

@Stupidlydupidly Here you go, for your next CBF dinner 😂

Not so much CBF for DC's meal, but for mine. Late in for lunch. Exhausted. DC has just started weaning and today's food was carrot mush. DC enjoyed it and then went for a nap. I had the rest of the carrot mush on a piece of bread for my lunch.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 25/07/2022 21:15

@heresince2006 meals when DD are away are a completely other beast. I had good intentions of reheating left overs yesterday but didnt like it so just ate a box of malteasers instead.

viques · 25/07/2022 21:15

I have just remembered one of my mums can’t be arsed dinners. A tin of heated up minced beef in gravy served on toast. It was vile, but in a moreish way…… the secret is not to put so much of the gravy on the toast that the toast just becomes soggy bread.

Splicebaked · 25/07/2022 20:07

Corned beef that's very dated I thought they stopped selling that stuff years ago along with spam.

I'm impressed your DC even ate it

As for a meal it's fine tbh

Dated? Where do you live, the year 2364?

A perfect dinner OP - dairy, veg, meat. Plenty of vitamins, protein and dairy 😊

PyongyangKipperbang · 25/07/2022 21:17

We have breakfast for dinner occasionally but not often as it is a Full English and so labour intensive that we only have it if I am feeling really energetic. REALLY wishing I had thought of the breakfast cereal idea......

Chocolatetrifle · 25/07/2022 21:17

We all love corned beef here! Love the love for corned beef on this thread.
I now fancy corned beef hash for tomorrow!

And yes op, your tea is perfectly fine.

Chocolatetrifle · 25/07/2022 21:19

Tinned ravioli on toast!

W00p · 25/07/2022 21:19

That is a tea to be proud of, most of my week night dinners look like that. I signed up to be a Mum, not to be a chef.

familyof4boys · 25/07/2022 21:20

Mine had cold leftover plain pasta, a boiled egg and broccoli… I figure it covers carbs, protein and veg?! Job done!

RogersOrganismicProcess · 25/07/2022 21:21

I should never have read this thread, I bloody love corned beef, especially the jelly but round the edges. We never get it though because DH and DCs think it is filth (fools). Sometimes when I’m feeding the cat, beef chunks in jelly I can feel myself salivating.

Op I’m sure your DC enjoyed every mouthful!

FangsForTheMemory · 25/07/2022 21:22

People who didn't know you can still buy spam or corned beef: don't you ever donate to food banks? I always get these, and a couple of tins of pilchards. It might not be what you'd choose, but it's protein and also makes nice sarnies.

LMB0716 · 25/07/2022 21:22

@WinterMusings we are all so much better now thank you!

Can’t be arsed teas are always the nicest though!

The other day my two had a bowl of porridge each with a spoon of Nutella slapped in the middle.

I love a 'all the bits at the back of the fridge meal'.

riotlady · 25/07/2022 21:23

My 4yo had a bowl of cornflakes and a slice of dry bread. Insisted that was what she wanted and didn’t see the point in arguing. Will make sure she has some veg tomorrow

Thick slab of corned beef with a few rounds of raw onion, on granary bread spread with butter, my second favourite sandwich.

Alcohol free kopperberg and digestives for breakfast hands down wins 😂

What toddler wouldn't enjoy that?

😆😆😆

This is the quality content I am here for 👌🏻 😆

Fedupmum21 · 25/07/2022 21:28

When I was a kid, my mums “can’t be arsed dinners” were- frozen French bread pizza, and tinned meatballs. I remember being beyond delighted when mum took me and my brother to the shop and we got to choose these, and usually a VHS rental! 90’s kids had the best childhoods 🤣

PandemicAtTheDisco · 25/07/2022 21:28

My CBA picnic meal is Crackers with a selection of toppings:- cheese, sliced meat, pickles, peanut butter, butter, pate served with crisps. Everyone serves themselves.

My CBA cold day meals is chicken/tomato soup and cheese baguette or egg and chips.

forlornlorna1 · 25/07/2022 21:29

Super noodle sandwiches here.

Tintackedsea · 25/07/2022 21:30

We sometimes do "breakfast tea". They have cereal or toast or something like that. They bloody love it.
