To ask...Truss or Sunak?

It's no surprise that these two are on the final ticket.

I assume Truss will win, which means there'll probably be another leadership election in about a year. She's already announced that she'll 'hit the ground on day one.' The word 'running' would have really helped there.

I think she would be a gift for Labour - Rishi is a far better candidate, despite being an entirely imperfect one.

Whaddyall think?

Truss definitely, I trust her with women’s rights.

GoldenGorilla · 20/07/2022 18:45

Truss is very odd. She talks like she’s a robot and has to wait for the programmer to write her next sentence, all these long pauses while she stares straight ahead.

But Sunak is possibly overall weirder. At least Truss has lived a standard middle class professional sort of life, she knows about something other than posh life.

thriftyhen · 20/07/2022 18:49

Sunak.

Frazzled2207 · 20/07/2022 18:50

I hope truss wins as she will be an absolute gift to Labour and the next GE

Devpatelslaughingeyes · 20/07/2022 19:02

We’re fucked either way. It’s like watching a car crash in slow motion.

LoReNewYork · 20/07/2022 19:05

Most Labour/Lib Dem voters will be rooting for Truss Grin

Over-60, male, white, South-East dwelling Tory members? Your country needs you!

I don’t think they want to win the next election. If they choose Truss it will seal the deal.

LakieLady · 20/07/2022 19:11

ThreeLittleDots · 20/07/2022 17:46

I choose chaos with Ed Milliband (sorry, had to)

Truss would be a gift to anyone wanting conservatives out in next GE, so hope it's her.

I'm hoping for Truss to win for exactly that reason!

Miajk · 20/07/2022 19:15

Sunak wants to rebuild the economy he destroyed.

His wife doesn't pay taxes on her billions in the UK.

He's evil. Anything better than him.

HannahSternDefoe · 20/07/2022 19:16

My DH keeps referring to "Boris in a Dress" - I assume he means Truss not Sunak...

WatchoRulo · 20/07/2022 19:17

Well there's barely a fag paper between what utter gits they are is there?
It's like choosing between shit and shite.

kimfox · 20/07/2022 19:18

Would I be unreasonable to suggest that asking us to choose is like asking if we would rather stick pins in our eyes or pull out our own toenails?

Sorry, I used to vote Tory, pre last election, but now I literally do not want to vote for any party, l can't stand any of these people.

Between these two I'd have to go with smug Sunak, over insufferable Truss. As if I have any say in the matter!

JustMaggie · 20/07/2022 19:23

The pretend "Thatcher" will take over from the pretend "Churchill" to run this very pretend "government".

Bunnycat101 · 20/07/2022 19:24

I suspect Truss is quite fluid in her views and is saying what she needs to get votes and then may well be more pragmatic in practice. Who knows! I think Rishi’s billions will count against him. He can’t understand or relate to normal people. I wouldn’t believe a word that either of them says between now and the vote.

Kidsaretryingtodestroyme · 20/07/2022 19:25

I just feel so disenfranchised. Only 0.2% of the population have a voice.

Look what the Tory’s and their membership have done to us over the last 12 years. Now they are giving us a selection between Rishi ‘Greencard/tax haven’ Sunak and Liz ‘pork market/Thatcher cosplay’ Truss.

I fucking despair.

Janie90 · 20/07/2022 19:28

Either, although would prefer Sunak as he voted leave!!

Lalalaleeloo · 20/07/2022 19:29

Surely, it will be Rishi that wins. His IQ is above 60.

Liz wafts around like a high Luna Lovegood.

Totally this.

TenoringBehind · 20/07/2022 19:33

Sunak.

Truss would be a disaster. Dim is an understatement.

DrManhattan · 20/07/2022 19:35

Sunak is a criminal and shouldn't be allowed to run. He's pissed away all that £££ on PPE and other shit ideas. He's been at Boriss side for the last 3 years plotting against him. Nice guy.

ITUnurse · 20/07/2022 19:36

Labour will never win a GE without Scotland and they will never regain Scotland.

So we are on to the next shade of blue - Truss is the useful idiot, Sunak slick and power hungry. They’ve just about killed off the NHS, I wonder which minority and/or public service will be targeted next.

Knowing how racist many Tory local parties and voters are I’d be very surprised if Sunak got elected - but then Tory voters do as they are told by the tabloid rags, the most useful of idiots.

I know where I’ll be - the picket line.

HannahSternDefoe · 20/07/2022 19:36

DH always votes Tory.

He said he'd rather vote Labour, even if Angela Rayner was in charge.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 20/07/2022 19:45

FIL — party member — will be voting Sunak, apparently.

I have a feeling the Sunak team will campaign hard on Truss originally being a remainer. This stuff seems to really matter to many, many party members still. This is why Mordaunt did so well in party polling — she was both a fresh(ish) start and a Brexiter.

BirmaBrite · 20/07/2022 19:48

Idly wondering if there is a cut off point for joining and being allowed to vote as a member of the Conservative party ?

Yes there was.
