Ordering a takeaway in this heat?

No way am I cooking tonight but I couldn't order a takeaway and expect someone else to cook for me instead in this heat.

I'd be genuinely interested if some of you asked a delivery driver or a takeaway chef what their opinion on this was?

My impression was that many struggled during Covid for lack of trade. And now some are saying let's withdraw our custom for another reason.

If they've open they're open. If they're delivering they're delivering.

Wondering if the upper class know that the delivery drivers aren’t employed by the restaurant.. or do they not care what the slaves do

I think it's so patronising to say you wouldn't order because you feel sorry for the chefs and delivery people.

I ordered takeout for lunch. Couldn't face even having to think about what to eat, let alone making it. I did apologise to the delivery driver though

This. Its very patronising to decide on someone else's behalf that it's too hot for them to provide a service they are offering.

We used to have a takeaway in the family, they wouldn't have been bothered by the heat but might have closed to enjoy the day with family

If a food place is open and they lose 2 days of customers that's a big hit. Right?

So we ban food delivery drivers from driving due to the hot weather, what about couriers, or bus drivers, or taxi drivers?

Am I allowed to give a friend a lift to work as long as no money exchanges hands or am I only allowed to drive myself?

Weird thread. Takeaways are open because they want the business. It’s not wrong to use a business which is open.

They have no choice if they want to be paid. They're often self employed. If you want to help them order as normal and give a massive tip.

My DPs takeaway has shut. Too hot to work and he doesn't want his staff working in it

DP delivers for just eat sometimes. He'd much rather be driving around with the air con on than sit there not making any money because no orders.
