Dd is meant to be going to the beach tomorrow with the school by coach. I really do not want her to go. But she really wants to. I don't think its a good idea at all. She's 12 incase it's relivent.

🤔?? the mixed & mostly positive responses to this when I got flamed for considering a trip to the coast today on another thread!!

That's very typical I think.

I feel really sorry for OP's 12-year-old (having one myself). All her friends went to the bewch and she wasn't allowed to. It's not like she's 5. I'm sure she could have coped with suitable clothes and sunscreen. My 12-year-old still had a show jumping lesson today. I thought it would be cancelled but her instructor still went ahead (indoor arena). She wanted to still do it, so I let her. We're also about to go on holiday to Italy and looking forward to the beach and pool! I find it quite sad that so many on this thread never holiday abroad.

The trip is now over and OP said her daughter wasn’t really that bothered, why are you trying to wind it up again? We all make decisions we think are best for our kids.

As for feeling sad that people don’t holiday abroad....Confused

Yeah just leave it be. OP made a difficult safety decision for the right reasons. Sometimes short term pain is for longer term gain!
