To think Prince George should not be wearing a jacket and tie?

He's at Wimbledon, it's very hot - can't help thinking he should be in a nice cool polo shirt. I know it's none of my beeswax really I was just pondering.

Meh, I couldn't get worked up over it to be honest.

FilePhoto · 10/07/2022 17:17

My DS wore a blazer and tie at every opportunity at that age. I've got pics of him on the beach in swim shorts and waistcoat. Hmm

UpdownUpdownAltogetherNow · 10/07/2022 17:17

I agree.

alphapie · 10/07/2022 17:18

YABU

Weird you spend time thinking about the clothes of a strangers child tbh.

Solmum1964 · 10/07/2022 17:19

If he wants to go, that's what the dress code for the Royal Box says he must wear.

SummaLuvin · 10/07/2022 17:19

yeah, it's really tough on him getting top notch tickets to yet another major sporting event final.

MarshaMelrose · 10/07/2022 17:19

I wonder if they put him in certain clothes so he knows those are his working mind your manners clothes! Lol. Or he might just like wearing his suit. His mum and dad don't seem like sadistic monsters so I guess there is a reason behind it.

And, honestly, why not discuss what he wears? We all love discussing what his mum wears. As long as we're not rude ... and you weren't.

Duttercup · 10/07/2022 17:19

It's hardly a random child she saw at the park, is it.

CuriousCatfish · 10/07/2022 17:20

Ridiculous and out dated, Just like the rest of the Royal family.

5foot5 · 10/07/2022 17:20

No it's not your beeswax. I bet 99% of the time he wears comfortable normal clothes like any child his age. For a special occasion where he is on show then he dresses smart. Seems fair enough, something he will have to get used to.

Bet a lot of boys his age have had to occasionally dress smartly for a family wedding or similar, especially if they gave a role to play.

CoastalWave · 10/07/2022 17:22

He's the future King of England.

What the hell do you want him to wear? Jeans and baseball trainers?! lol.

He looked great.

You simply cannot compare George to a normal child.

Ties are protocol for the royal box, for everyone. It's very rare for a child to be in there.

eddiemairswife · 10/07/2022 17:22

Well, if a child at the park were to be dressed like that there would be plenty of comments.

Ravenclawdropout · 10/07/2022 17:23

There may be formal events before and after when he may be meeting national and international leaders, sporting greats etc.
It could be that his mum and dad are using this as an opportunity to gradually introduce George to what is expected of the Royal family. With most families it's "start as you mean to go on". Giving him an age appropriate apprenticship in their roles. Everyone has times when they are uncomfortable or something is hard, it doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.

Yes I expect them to dress him in weather appropriate clothes. He's still a child.

Same principle, did you question the men in the royal box also following the dress code and being too hot?

It's cool at Wimbledon court side

LubaLuca · 10/07/2022 17:26

I don't know, I know one of my sons wore a suit to a wedding on a blazing hot day, because that was the expectation for that occasion. I imagine there's a dress code for the royal box, so his options are to wear the suit and enjoy the match or don't go.

Topgub · 10/07/2022 17:27

I'm more concerned about how spoilt and ridiculously privileged for no good reason he is than what he's wearing.

They've always dressed their kids stupidly imo, why change now?

That's adorable! Eccentric and adorable! My youngest wears a suit every Friday because its something we started doing during lockdown to brighten things up (Formal Fridays) but he's still young enough to wear what I choose (he chooses his own tie/bowtie though)

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 10/07/2022 17:32

Dress him like an old man. As someone else said outdated just like the Royal Family. But am guessing they do not care what I have to say.

MintyGreenDreams · 10/07/2022 17:34

@TopTopgub no good reason? I'd say being a Prince is a better reason than most!

TimBoothseyes · 10/07/2022 17:36

Don't know why they couldn't have left him at home. I always thought William said he hated being in the spotlight as a kid, shame he's inflicting the same childhood on his own.

Topgub · 10/07/2022 17:37

@MintyGreenDreams

Its not. They've done nothing to deserve their wealth and privilege.

Being a prince is entirely meaningless.

JaneJeffer · 10/07/2022 17:39
