Maya Forstater WON. We should all breathe a sigh of relief. And organisations hr departments need to ensure they no longer discriminate for recognising biological reality. What a brilliant day for women.

*misgender dagnabbit!

LaughingPriest · 06/07/2022 23:00

This was the tribunal where Luke Easley said "the reality is she's Black" about Rachel Dolezal, isn't it?

MiniPiccolo · 06/07/2022 23:05

BRAVO MAYA!

MiniPiccolo · 06/07/2022 23:07

WifeMotherWorkRepeat · 06/07/2022 22:14

Massive congratulations to Maya.
There maybe a tiny few who are extremely negative and hyper vocal about her fabulous win, even on this thread, however the majority of women are pleased.
Feelings are not more important than truth, that statement is ludicrous. Dress it up however you want but XX and XY are biological facts that can never be altered!!

I doubt many of them are actually women, to be fair. Though they may like to pretend to be.

MiniPiccolo · 06/07/2022 23:11

beautyisthefaceisee · 06/07/2022 16:59

Out of interest, since we are now in a world where truth matters over feeling - Misogyny isn't a legal hate crime.

Can I now make misogynystic statements left right and centre, then? is that OK?

Misogyny isn't hurting someone's feelings. It's discriminating, penalising and demeaning women for their biological sex.

Sex based discrimination is already a recognised thing and a protected status. Misogyny is the cause/behaviour, not the crime.

GoodJanetBadJanet · 06/07/2022 23:16

I doubt many of them are actually women, to be fair. Though they may like to pretend to be.

Here we go, we've had anyone with a different opinion is "raging" and now we've got the all classic "they must be men."
It's ridiculous.

LaughingPriest · 06/07/2022 23:21

Oh and didn't Luke Easley also say 'sex is the same as gender' or words to that effect? Because here web.archive.org/web/20220706220233/www.personneltoday.com/hr/maya-forstater-v-cgd-2022-judgment-transgender-gender-critrcal/ it says that Maya's position is that sex is not to be conflated with gender.

I remember getting a bit confused about all that.

Tiphaine · 06/07/2022 23:24

Maya's win is brilliant and wonderful. She's truly an inspiration.

An unexpected bonus has been reading the posts filled with MRAs' impotent rage. So much frothing!

LaughingPriest · 06/07/2022 23:25

Just FYI the ruling is pretty explicit that you're free to hold whatever shitty views you like, but you can't wilfully misgebder people

Can anyone give me the paragraph refs for this please? There is only one mention of the word 'misgender' in the judgement and it doesn't say this.

LaughingPriest · 06/07/2022 23:26

It would be wonderful if we could discuss this without dishonesty, but that does seem to be a running factor. I guess if you've acknowledged that you'd prefer to lie than hurt feelings, honesty is pretty far down your list of priorities.

KnittingWords · 06/07/2022 23:28

So delighted with Maya Forstater's win!

Many many thanks to Maya and her team. Thank you so much.

With reference to what a PP, ThinkingaboutLangClegosaurus, wrote:

"...women of stupendous courage like Maya are slowly turning it back to rights. They haven’t got the rich backers and government money that our opponents have. But they’re backed by thousands of ordinary people who write letters, sign petitions, put £10 in a crowdfunder when they can, and are more and more often now daring to speak out themselves."

This. It warms my heart. Like so many of you, I've been putting £10 or £20 here and there in the various women's justice funders, when I can do so. I view it as a very worthwhile investment in my own future, my daugher's future, and the future of all women. And it is an investment that is bringing solid returns.

Possibly just UK for now, but it sets a firm precedent; it sends a clear message. Women have a perfectly legal and respectable right to express the opinion that men are not women!

lifeturnsonadime · 06/07/2022 23:43

How is it always painted as" rage"when people see an opinion they don't agree with?!

It is my belief that it IS rage resulting from an unwanted tribunal verdict supporting what the majority of the people in the world actually believe, that sex is immutable is not a bigoted and unworthy belief. The rage comes from the fact that people like that poster, and certainly TRAs in general, have attempted to silence women on this and have failed. The poster is so upset they don't think that Maya should ever be able to work. It's irrational. It's rage.

How is it any different from the fact that it always painted by people like the 'raging' poster that those who believe in material reality over the feelings of males are bigots because it's an opinion they don't agree with?

They are raging because this shit show is beginning to end. Believing in material reality is not bigoted. It is a worthy belief.

Again, thank you Maya.

IStandWithMaya · 06/07/2022 23:46

I have been standing with Maya for a long time. Great result.

jeaux90 · 06/07/2022 23:52

Brilliant, brave woman.

TRAs are mad because what it means is they can't get us fired from our jobs for having GC views.

It's ridiculous.

Given that a prolific poster on this thread called another "sweetheart" (a pretty misogynistic put-down), you can see why people might come to that conclusion.

Of course there are some who we know to be men. Kevin for example, who often visits on screenshot-gathering expeditions.

ScrollingLeaves · 07/07/2022 00:28

It is wonderful news. How brave she has been. What a huge thing she has done.

justforthisnow · 07/07/2022 00:31

Brilliant! Amazing work and resilience from Maya, the toll this must have taken on her. Flowers

LaughingPriest · 06/07/2022 23:00

This was the tribunal where Luke Easley said "the reality is she's Black" about Rachel Dolezal, isn't it?

No, as I recall, he saw Rachel Dolezal as a wicked imposter playing a deliberate trick. He therefore found the comparison with transgenderism offensive ("it's offensive!") on those grounds. He spluttered about how Rachel had begged someone not to tell others about her true origins, as this demonstrated her calculated dishonesty. It obviously never occurred to him that one could equally liken this to a TW afraid of being "outed"...

However, "identity is reality", without which "we are all corpses".

(Rachel D's transracialism didn't count as a legitimate Identity in the Gospel according to Luke Easley).

KnittingWords · 07/07/2022 00:48

It's interesting to read and observe the poster who has been throwing all of their toys out of their pram, for the past few days.

One gets the impression that gender-critical women are the adults in the room, in this situation!

Furries · 07/07/2022 04:28

beautyisthefaceisee · 06/07/2022 16:47

You're fucked either way. Open playing field for people saying what they like if its "true". God help us.

Brave.

My pupils who live through the most awful family circumstances are brave. The people currently fleeing from Ukraine are brave.
On this subject, people who faced their truth and came out as the person they are knowing they'd be mocked and sneered at are brave. Trans people are brave.

Maya who knew exactly what she was doing and is now enjoying her payout while everyone claps at her for hurting peoples' feelings?

Yeah, big wow. So brave.

Please can you explain how Maya is enjoying her payout (you’ve mentioned it at least twice).

Would be great if you could provide links to the details of this. As it would appear to be news that we’ve all missed out on.

BeethovenNinth · 07/07/2022 07:00

Donated to her cause twice. Delighted. She has been very brave. The fight back continues!!

JuneOsborne · 07/07/2022 08:12

When women find themselves discriminated against, or have their feelings hurt by not being re-hired because they state a fact, women take action. Legal action.

When TRAs have their feelings hurt, they post pictures of instructions on how to make a pipe bomb alongside the address of the woman that's hurting their feelings, by stating the truth and supporting women.

And women are accused of making the debate toxic.

I'm really pleased for Maya, pleased that the outcome paves the way for future women; protects women who want to be able to speak the truth at work and pleased that's it's all been done through the proper channels.

You know, I feel sorry for regular transmen and transwomen who are being represented by people who make the debate so toxic that it makes those regular transpeoples everyday lives so much more difficult. Because every GC woman I meet or know doesn't want that, they want peace for ourselves and for transpeople. But pipe bombs and mud-slinging make that so much more difficult. Why don't they see that?

Norma27 · 07/07/2022 08:12

Those plopping into this thread with their trantrums are definitely raging because more and more people are having their eyes opened and women are saying NO to the erasure of their words, single-sex spaces and ability to speak the truth.
Once again Maya- thank you for being the hero we needed and not giving up.
