Maya Forstater WON. We should all breathe a sigh of relief. And organisations hr departments need to ensure they no longer discriminate for recognising biological reality. What a brilliant day for women.

Is this a decision that has U.K.-wide impact? I think it is, as equality legislation is not a devolved matter.

Paddingtonsmarmaladesandwiches · 06/07/2022 19:09

Hard to overstate how important this decision is and hard to overstate how horrifying it is that it was necessary. Congratulations Team Maya and now to keep the support going for Allison B.

oviraptor21 · 06/07/2022 19:33

Congratulations and bravo Maya. And thank you.

Is there a judgement on compensation or is that separate?

Johnnysgirl · 06/07/2022 19:44

🍿🍿🍿

You'll need to greatly elaborate on this for it to make the slightest sense, I'm afraid?
Who's feelings were hurt? Why would anyone not want to work with Maya?
If you can't go into great detail on both those points you'll continue to sound like a foot stamping toddler 🤷🏻‍♀️

Norma27 · 06/07/2022 20:28

@oviraptor21 the compensation has yet to be decided I believe.

Really fantastic news. So glad I donated to this.

LaughingPriest · 06/07/2022 21:15

One question beauty, and honesty would be appreciated - have you read the judgement? Do you understand what actually happened? You seem a bit muddled.

LaughingPriest · 06/07/2022 21:16

beautyisthefaceisee · 06/07/2022 17:17

eh, yes.

Amazing. We should lie if people want us to.

Worked for Boris, I guess... for a while.

VestaTilley · 06/07/2022 21:17

It’s superb news and I’m delighted for Maya, her legal team, and women everywhere.

Johnnysgirl · 06/07/2022 21:20

@beautyisthefaceisee is either very short on comprehension skills, or is taking the piss.

Discontentedpony · 06/07/2022 21:25

It's absolutely fabulous news. I say this as someone whose workplace is in the process of being captured by the be kind brigade, and workers in their droves queuing up to get their new pronoun badges.

Discontentedpony · 06/07/2022 21:29

Oh and May doesn't need a job anymore because the warrior woman was spurred into action to start up the Sex Matters organisation doing wonderful work for women and girls' rights. She's her own boss!

HollowTalk · 06/07/2022 21:40

Yes, huge congratulations to Maya 💐

Neither. I just don't agree with the MN gang. Wild, I know.

WifeMotherWorkRepeat · 06/07/2022 22:14

Massive congratulations to Maya.
There maybe a tiny few who are extremely negative and hyper vocal about her fabulous win, even on this thread, however the majority of women are pleased.
Feelings are not more important than truth, that statement is ludicrous. Dress it up however you want but XX and XY are biological facts that can never be altered!!

Supersee · 06/07/2022 22:19

How, how, HOW did I land in a world where it is vitriolic to state you can't change biological sex?! What's next? Cats can become dogs? I'd like to say I'm joking but...

ThinkingaboutLangClegosaurus · 06/07/2022 22:26

Norma27 · 06/07/2022 11:53

Maya is such a hero. But as said above, what a world we live in when this has to go to tribunal for employees to be protected for speaking biological truth.

I agree. But women of stupendous courage like Maya are slowly turning it back to rights. They haven’t got the rich backers and government money that our opponents have. But they’re backed by thousands of ordinary people who write letters, sign petitions, put £10 in a crowdfunder when they can, and are more and more often now daring to speak out themselves.

Congratulations and thanks, Maya and your team.

Maya was evil enough to say humans can’t change sex, and thinking he’s female doesn’t make a man a woman.

I know, I know. Burn the witch!

GoodJanetBadJanet · 06/07/2022 22:41

How is it always painted as" rage"when people see an opinion they don't agree with?!
It's so fucking ridiculous!

@beautyisthefaceisee are you able to explain why you're so against the Maya win? It's a genuine question because I honestly would like to understand. You've said upthread that people's feelings are more important than the truth...is that what you genuinely believe? I'm curious because I used to be very accepting that "TWAW" and we need to "be kind" and then similarly to a PP I started to wonder why educated, intelligent, decent women were not on the same bandwagon. Which is when I started really reading around this issue rather than looking at posts on Twitter. And then I started to get it.

For me you stating that someone's feelings are more important than the truth/facts really astounds me, so I'd genuinely like to understand why it is you think that? And I'd also really like to encourage you to read around this issue more and learn everything you can about it because I just cannot comprehend why anyone decent is not delighted at this Maya ruling.

No, it’s one or the other, as you haven’t actually answered most of the questions you’ve been asked. Because you know you can’t.

CampervanKween · 06/07/2022 22:44

Delighted with the result. What a brave woman Maya is.

Oh dear,🤭

furries or 2 spirited were added to the mix long before a "having sex without sexual attraction" threw the first brick at stonewall 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just FYI the ruling is pretty explicit that you're free to hold whatever shitty views you like, but you can't wilfully misgebder people 😘
