Maya Forstater WON. We should all breathe a sigh of relief. And organisations hr departments need to ensure they no longer discriminate for recognising biological reality. What a brilliant day for women.

No. It's a pretty sad day, and I will not 'celebrate' a woman who got a payout for hurting peoples' feelings. Certainly not.

I mean, good luck to her, cause I'd say her chances of getting another job after going public wiht her vitriol is pretty slim. I certainly wouldn't want to work with or for her, nor should anyone else.

Congratulations Maya. Maya has been so brave. I hope she has a fabulous party tonight 🍾

Brave?!

Scarletandtheblack · 06/07/2022 16:34

Yanbu - delighted and thrilled to hear this news!

LifeInsideMyhead · 06/07/2022 16:36

Yes ever so brave given all the hatred men like to pour on women. Very very brave. Hope she sails into her next position.

Great news.

littleburn · 06/07/2022 16:36

I'm very pleased for her and very thankful that she brought this case. And yes she is brave.

beautyisthefaceisee · 06/07/2022 16:37

"a view shared by the vast majority of people in this country." thankfully untrue.

AlisonDonut · 06/07/2022 16:38

Just a repeat of her crime.

Leaving a leaflet on her desk, that referred to a government consultation.

That's it.

Oh really, could you quote your source? (Twitter doesn't count)

Naive of you. Who do you think is going to want to hire her? People who take bosses to employment tribunals rarely fare well and so publicly too.

@littleburn , No she is not brave. People who have to live through the journey of being trans in a world are brave. She's just someone with an ego and an opinion, I for one am gutted this is a slippery slope to people being able to treat others like shit and get away with it.

Thef act you can't all see this is a total own goal is beyond me. How long until men can be misognystic to women and as long as it's 'true', they will get away with it in the workplace and be the ones with their smug faces in the paper? Yes, well done Maya for ensuring that it's now an open playing field.

Aye so she did. Poor, wee victim Maya.

Fooled you lot, didn't she! Or is it only OK becaue you share her views?

So, employees are protected from the wrath of employers for both believing and saying that women are a sex class? I mean, it was necessary but, fuck me, how far we have fallen.

Indeed. We were all entirely fucked if the judgement had not gone Maya's way.

littleburn · 06/07/2022 16:43

@beautyisthefaceisee that's ok, we can disagree.

Roystonv · 06/07/2022 16:44

What an effort it has been, the time, the money, the fear. Wonderful it is but still so sad it ever came to this. It is a huge ship that needs turning and so many are still headed in the other direction.

You're fucked either way. Open playing field for people saying what they like if its "true". God help us.

Brave.

My pupils who live through the most awful family circumstances are brave. The people currently fleeing from Ukraine are brave.
On this subject, people who faced their truth and came out as the person they are knowing they'd be mocked and sneered at are brave. Trans people are brave.

Maya who knew exactly what she was doing and is now enjoying her payout while everyone claps at her for hurting peoples' feelings?

Yeah, big wow. So brave.

Fantastic

As an HR professional I am delighted with this outcome and will continue to protect and champion womens rights.

Glittertwins · 06/07/2022 16:55

Brilliant news. It should never have come to this though, thank goodness she was able to stand and fight

Majority of who, btw? People? Or mumsnet?

@BerryTree1 I sincerely hope you have no trans or male employees - I'd be complaining about you if you did with statements like that.

NiqueNique · 06/07/2022 16:57

This is really important for the well-being of humanity as a whole. It’s absolutely not a women’s issue. It’s about fact, rationality, reality. Regardless of sex it affects us all.

She didn't go to war, ffs. She talked a load of nonsense and got a pay out. "stand and fight" indeed.

Such rage against a woman whose 'crime' is believing in a material reality that sex is real and that men who identify as women are not women.

It's attitudes like yours that make Maya brave. She is brave. She knows full well that this could impact on her future employability but went ahead and claimed anyway because the impact on women, not just in the UK but ultimately globally is so important, We need to have to be able to talk about the fact that we are not the same as transwomen and have separate needs and require separate protections at law from ALL males including transwomen. That's not bigoted. Maya deserves her victory. It's simply common sense, human's can't change sex. She shouldn't have lost her job for speaking the truth.

But as another poster has said you are entitled to hold different beliefs we just don't have to capitulate to them.
