Maya Forstater WON. We should all breathe a sigh of relief. And organisations hr departments need to ensure they no longer discriminate for recognising biological reality. What a brilliant day for women.

Hooray! 🎉

catandcoffee · 06/07/2022 13:17

brilliant news 👏

lifeturnsonadime · 06/07/2022 13:18

Absolutely fabulous news.

And Maya, If you read this thread, thank you. You have undoubtedly put yourself to considerable personal sacrifice in order to bring this claim on behalf of the right of all women to express a belief in material reality and to say NO to those who are trying to enforce TWAW on us with all of the consequences that will bring

I also REALLY hope the Labour Party take a look at this judgement. The Tories are on a downward spiral, thank goodness. Women need protection at law. Please take women's rights seriously and do a you turn on your self ID pledges. Law needs to be based on material reality NOT on an ideology that is harmful to women and children.

SquirrelSoShiny · 06/07/2022 13:19

She's amazing yanbu. But yes how utterly demoralising that stating biological reality was treated like a crime.

What's next? Telling people who identify as birds that they shouldn't jump off buildings because Twitter told them they could fly?

whynotwhatknot · 06/07/2022 13:19

nice one shame it had to go this far

SummerPuddings · 06/07/2022 13:21

🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

darlingdodo · 06/07/2022 13:28

What a total complete waste of time, effort and money for something that should never have been allowed to progress so far in the first place.

Not to mention the toll it must have taken on Maya.

Good result due to Maya's bravery and tenacity, but what a world we live in that the whole process was even necessary.

Redshoeblueshoe · 06/07/2022 13:35

Congratulations Maya. Maya has been so brave. I hope she has a fabulous party tonight 🍾

But given that the world is currently that batshit, thank Christ she won...

battymaggot · 06/07/2022 14:03

What a great result. Maya has done so well to stick to her beliefs with courage, dignity and in the face of so much hateful, misogynistic opposition . This is a big step forward for women i.e. the adult human female kind. This has taken a big pile of bricks out of the woo woo wall. Thank you Maya

Oops I hit the wrong voting button.
very obvious YANBU

NiqueNique · 06/07/2022 14:10

@OldKingCole you can just hit the other button and it will correct your vote.

WifeMotherWorkRepeat · 06/07/2022 14:15

This is excellent news… congratulations Maya.

SolasAnla · 06/07/2022 14:16

Thats great news for her and women and for the protection of PC's in the workplace.

Off to Twitter to watch some Mad Angry Crying(tm) 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bloodybridget · 06/07/2022 14:17

Brilliant, so glad to see this!

Tabitha005 · 06/07/2022 14:20

This is great news for Maya.

BUT: I have an issue with this: "... Monica Kurnatowska, employment partner at law firm Baker McKenzie, said the ruling meant that "individuals are entitled not to be discriminated against because of gender critical beliefs... and gives those beliefs the same legal protection as religious beliefs, environmental beliefs and ethical veganism"....".

The word 'belief' is dangerous is this context. Sex IS immutable, as Forstater had stated in the original hot-potato that lead to her contract not being renewed in the first place. I genuinely cannot see how the facts of human biology can be held to be merely a 'belief'.

We are not done, here. And I guarantee more women will be getting unfairly fired and pushed out of the workplace before legislation to enshrine the assertion that humans cannot, and have never, changed sex isn't any sort of 'workplace misconduct'. The fact we'd even NEED that sort of legislation is, as others have said, fucking depressing.

tootiredtobother · 06/07/2022 14:24

im soooo glad i put money into her campaign, very much hope I will not have to do so for anyone else..
has the tide started to turn on all this stupidness ?
Well done Maya and her legal team whoop whoop

ChagSameachDoreen · 06/07/2022 14:25

It's great, but I'm uncomfortable that knowing sex is immutable is now a "belief" alongside veganism. That is madness.

Whatwouldscullydo · 06/07/2022 14:27

This is good news well done maya.

But yes the whole thing about biological reality being a belief system is very worrying.

Everyone on the planet is here becuase of said biological reality. Its not a belief. Its reality.

NiqueNique · 06/07/2022 14:28

@Tabitha005 and @ChagSameachDoreen

Yes.

It’s infuriating, frightening and depressing in equal measure. There’s a long way to go yet before the fight is done.

MrMrsJones · 06/07/2022 14:33

Well done Maya and thank you 😊

Jolly glad she won.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 06/07/2022 14:46

Delighted at this news! Many congratulations Maya. I'm so glad I contributed to her Crowd Justice fund.

Butchyrestingface · 06/07/2022 15:30

Thanks Godless for that.

If "sex" is only a belief the PC's of sex and gender reassignment can be questioned too.

Sex

In relation to the protected characteristic of sex

(a) a reference to a person who has a particular protected characteristic is a reference to a man or to a woman;

(b) a reference to persons who share a protected characteristic is a reference to persons of the same sex.

I will just leave this here to remind ourselves that creationism comes in many varieties and we are all a clownfish's cousin.
