To me it was how little people actually care about other’s.

And how lonely and isolating life can be, even as an adult, if you just don’t ”fit in” with the norm.

OP posts:
Thelnebriati · 05/07/2022 12:04

Most people will do what suits them instead of what's right most of the time.

purpleboy · 05/07/2022 12:05

Life is very unfair, if you start off disadvantaged, there's very little you can do to change that, and half of society don't even give a shit and are just happier getting wealthier and wealthier while more people are resorting to food banks and stuck in low paid jobs.
In essence most people are out for themselves.

bluebell34567 · 05/07/2022 12:05

That women need to stick together and stick up for each other. We need each other.
that wont happen.

Tallisker · 05/07/2022 12:06

Ageism and sexism is alive and well against women - I thought 40 years ago we'd cracked it but nope

tulips27 · 05/07/2022 12:06

That it's very common for people to be abandoned by their friends if they get seriously ill.

JudgeRindersMinder · 05/07/2022 12:07

Nodding and agreeing with all of the points pp have made, but mostly live for now. As long as the bills are paid, fuck it!

AntlerRose · 05/07/2022 12:07

That there isnt really any support for families with disabled children, and even less for families with adults disabilities

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 05/07/2022 12:07

That sooner or later you see the shit side of a lot of people. That the older you get the more selfish people get. That you can't have everything you want

handslikecowstits · 05/07/2022 12:07

That you don't realise how precious and important your health is until you no longer have it.

Ultimately, everyone is in it for themselves.

Bbqbeefhulahoopsarethebest · 05/07/2022 12:08

Similar to yours OP - how little people really care about others. While to be fair, people might try to help in the moment - in reality how unimportant you and your family are to others.

newnamethanks · 05/07/2022 12:13

That 52% of people in this country were too stupid to understand that they were voting against their own interests and against their own children's future. Then cemented that by giving BloJo a massive majority. I'm still shocked by it. I had no idea so many people were so ignorant and misinformed. But now I know; look at the consequences.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 05/07/2022 12:18

That even if you have the loveliest family and friends, there’s only one person who you can guarantee will be there at the end, and that’s you - so you need to be able to rely on yourself ahead of anyone else.

Its not necessarily a negative thing, but it can be quite tough to face up to the knowledge that you might be the last one standing.

Bonjovispjs · 05/07/2022 12:18

That the only person you can trust is yourself and family definitely ISN'T everything.

everyone is fundamentally selfish and self-absorbed.

Jessieharriet181 · 05/07/2022 12:21

That to some people family means nothing.

adorablecat · 05/07/2022 12:21

Stupidity is not only incurable, but very common.

ILikeHotWaterBottles · 05/07/2022 12:22

Everyone deep down is out for themselves. Some hide it better than others, that's all.

Gogster · 05/07/2022 12:22

LadyCampanulaTottington · 05/07/2022 11:48

Women are tenth class citizens and are disposable and replaceable.

Speak for yourself!

I do not regard myself or anyone else as a 'tenth class citizen' how defeatist.

GCAcademic · 05/07/2022 12:23

That many incompetent, deeply unimpressive men get promoted above their abilities.

Hardbackwriter · 05/07/2022 12:23

It turns out I am going to get older, just like everyone else. I think when I was 21 I thought I'd never get old, just through sheer force of will.

slowquickstep · 05/07/2022 12:23

That all the bow and bangles matter not a jot, stop getting into debt for things you really don't need.

ChagSameachDoreen · 05/07/2022 12:23

Just how much men hate women.

MaitreKarlsson · 05/07/2022 12:24

It's very hard to be genuinely platonic friends with a man. I was naive enough to find this quite a shock when I got to uni. I still feel sad about it.

BooksnDreams · 05/07/2022 12:25

People aren’t genuinely nice. They’re only nice if they think they can get something for it or from you.
