Sorry if AIBU is not the most appropriate place to post this thread in.

Would you say Jersey is a well known holiday destination? Have you heard of it before?

I suppose the real challenge is asking how many people have heard of Lihou, Brecqhou, or the Ecrehous? 😅

maddy68 · 05/07/2022 00:18

Yes ..I'm confused why you are asking ?

Thisisconfusing · 05/07/2022 00:19

Yes - fortunate to have had quite a few brilliant trips there . Would love to go back . St Brelades Bay is an amazing beach. Lovely sea food. Very happy times there.

DorritLittle · 05/07/2022 00:32

No sign of the OP in 8 pages people...

Christinatherabbit · 05/07/2022 00:33

I live in Surrey. Yes of course I've heard of Jersey (being British) But no I've never been there personally

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 05/07/2022 00:34

Well I’ve never heard of this so-called ‘Jersey’. And frankly, it sounds made up.

MissConductUS · 05/07/2022 00:39

I'm a Yank and I've heard of it. Of course, we have New Jersey as a reminder.

RubyandPearl · 05/07/2022 00:41

@Scissor ha! Bergerac was an 80s classic.

Booklover3 · 05/07/2022 01:06

Wait a minute isn’t it like Narnia?

No I’m just kidding. Of course I know where Jersey is… never been. Did go to Guernsey but wasn’t a huge fan.

Mamanyt · 05/07/2022 01:19

Lord, I'VE heard of Jersey, and I live in the US.

Remaker · 05/07/2022 01:21

I’m Australian and I have heard of it. In fact I know people who live there!

I've been there several times, it has the most beautiful beaches. Actually I got sunburnt there every time I went, despite not burning easily in general. Perhaps the uv rays are stronger there.

Trinidading3 · 05/07/2022 01:47

Did you think it was a jumper? You did, didn't you? Ha ha ha, this is too funny....😂

LoisLane66 · 05/07/2022 02:18

If you've really never heard of Jersey, then you must be deaf and daft.

SwapPlaces · 05/07/2022 02:40

Gosh I'm on the other side of the world and I'm familiar with Jersey. Though, and @CredibilityProblem would approve, that's at least partly due to Bergerac.

Bellagio40 · 05/07/2022 02:40

Omg is this an episode of Love Island?

Nanof8 · 05/07/2022 03:05

I am Canadian and have both heard of and holidayed in Jersey with friends from Dorset. Was a beautiful holiday and would love to go again.

WiddlinDiddlin · 05/07/2022 03:20

Yeah... I have friends from there also.

MintJulia · 05/07/2022 03:28

Yes, been there as a child and as an adult.
It's lovely if a bit quiet.🙂

sashh · 05/07/2022 04:38

Yes a place that could send you to prison for life if you had a termination, even though the termination was not performed on the Island.

You can now have a termination up to 12 weeks.

So off my list of places to visit.

Bordesleyhills · 05/07/2022 04:41

Yes and been. It’s small, top speed of 40mph. Low crime etc. Great War tunnels and a huge ww2 history as the Germans did invade . Zoo was amazing, great museum of every tractor, car etc ( can’t remember it’s name) Mad Mary for hot chocolate. Drive round in a circle . Waitrose and Morrison local not very cheap. Sunday forget shops open... all closed . Lovely beaches. A long weekend or short break ideal and red squirrels

Oestrogelsmuggler · 05/07/2022 04:47

Is it near East Angular?

soberfabulous · 05/07/2022 04:48

I'm from Jersey although I live on the other side of the world now. It's a beautiful place.

MistyRuins · 05/07/2022 04:52

Yes. I've never been, but I have eaten their potatoes.

This reply was tricky to follow but strangely informative.
