I really like this cut. But is it a bit “young” for a 42 year old woman? My friend said I am too old for a cut like this.

I have alopecia so I don't have hair. If I did, I'd get it cut and coloured any fucking way I wanted. Go for it. Grin

THIS!

💐Butchyrestingface . I'll bet you still look completely fabulous, and clearly are fabulous inside.

OP a work colleague once told me my haircut was 20 years too young for me. Despite being a BIG manager I told him to fuck right off and keep his misogynistic comments about appearance to himself. I didn't care that he was joking.

Justbefair · 28/06/2022 20:06

Love it, do it! You are ONLY 42! Have taken a screenshot because I think I'm going to ask for it myself and I'm 50. X

Justbefair · 28/06/2022 20:07

Oh and don't give a hoot about your friend's opinion, probably knows you'll look amazing and jealous. X

At 42 through to 46 I regularly dye my hair pink. Don’t be pushed into being old before your time.

I think it’s a standard 40+ haircut 🤷‍♀️

I thought this would be platinum blonde extensions or something. And even then, I’d say do what the hell you want.

I’m 45 and regularly wear cropped tops. I’ve got a six-pack and don’t care if people think I’m too old.

LaDamaDeElche · 28/06/2022 20:17

Your friend is odd. I thought you were going to post a wolf cut or something like that.

Tigger1895 · 28/06/2022 20:30

Someone once told me after the age of 40 odd you should start going shorter and lose the fringe. That person is now in their 50s and has long hair with a fringe. Do whatever you want and ignore anyone else.

RachaelN · 28/06/2022 20:50

Tell your friend to shush! It's a lovely hairstyle.

Misty78 · 28/06/2022 21:04

Your friend is a dick!! Days of women having to have short permed hair with a purple rinse after the age of 40 are long gone!! Get it cut and give her the middle finger 🖕 🤣🤣

strawberry2017 · 28/06/2022 21:05

How old does your friend think you are? 42 is not old!

CallmeMrsPricklepants · 28/06/2022 21:05

Fringe is the best, so much cheaper than botox

WindyGlowers · 28/06/2022 21:08

Isn't it great that we're not all the same? Get the haircut (or whatever one you fancy on the day!)

celticprincess · 28/06/2022 22:32

45 here with a fringe. Got it cut back in a few years ago- maybe around Turing 4”. It makes me look much younger than no fringe. Although maintenance is tricky so I do have a few weeks of it being clipped back til I get it cut again as I can’t afford 6 weekly trips to the hairdresser ( I also use root spray for a few weeks every few months too 😂😂😂).

Tomasinabombadil · 28/06/2022 22:45

You go for it if that’s what you want.🙂
My hair is cut very similar to just touching my shoulders with a full width lightweight fringe, not to cover any wrinkles (I don’t have any) but to disguise a deep high forehead and I’m 68.

wentworthinmate · 28/06/2022 23:38

Are any hairstyles off the cards as you get older? Thought those days were long gone. I like it a lot and have similar at 49.

NeedSomeHeadspace · 28/06/2022 23:43

I don’t think the style is for only a young person - it just depends on the structure of your face and having a hair colour that complements your skin tone. Don’t go too dark as that will be too harsh. Go for it!

BitOutOfPractice · 28/06/2022 23:46

My hair is almost identical to that including the terrible fringe after I hacked at it with the nail scissors after a lovely night in the pub and I’m 55 🤷‍♀️

Mamanyt · 28/06/2022 23:48

I've seen women of your age with very similar hairstyles. It looked marvelous on some, and looked like warmed-over death on others. It isn't a matter of age, but of face shape. IF you trust your stylist, take the picture and ask if it suits yours.

CelestiaNoctis · 29/06/2022 01:59

Lol old at 42, fucking christ. That's not old at all! (Saying this as a 28 year old)

Rwealere · 29/06/2022 02:36

My colleague has had her hair like that for as long as I’ve known her, she’s in her late 60s now and it still suits her face.

geonosis · 29/06/2022 02:43

Go for it! As said already 42 is no age at all!

Zooforhouse · 29/06/2022 05:45

I am 40 and my hair is like this

Flossatops · 29/06/2022 07:51

It's a really nice hair cut - hardly outrageous and will be easy to grow out later on. I'm 50 and if I had dead straight hair I'd have something similar. Go for it!

bemusedmoose · 29/06/2022 11:11

your hair - cut it how you like! No such thing as too old for a hair cut, it's not like you are going for a blue rinse and a wet set! One thing ive found since passing 40 - people will pretty much see anything as a 'mid life crisis' or being 'too old' so stick 2 fingers up at the world and do it anyway. It's not a crisis, it's not pretending to be young - it's finally feeling like you can do what the hell you like and the world wont end. I always wanted to shave my hair but ex always told me it's ugly. Well he's an ex and my hair is shaved and rainbow and i dont give a fig what anyone thinks because i love it.

So get the hair cut - it's gorgeous.

MadMadaMim · 29/06/2022 11:24

A run of the mill, totally average cut.

Maybe the post should read 'AIBU to get a fringe at 42' as that seems to be more accurate.

Would still be a '?? Really' post though...
