To think this bedding doesn't go in my bedroom?

Spent a lot of money on new bedding as pictured (navy cushions haven't been added yet). I thought a yellow and navy theme for the bedroom but now I've set it all up I'm thinking I've made a mistake. Husband thinks it's fine.

AIBU to think this doesn't go at all?

And I agree you’ve taken the mrs hinch karate chop too far, the pillows look a bit mad 😃

Oh, it's her daft idea is it?

Almost as mad as Stacey Solomon hanging crisp packets!

BarbaraofSeville · 25/06/2022 17:44

Why is the bed wearing a belt?

What is the strip of fabric for?

You mention more pillows? What do you do with all the excess stuff on the bed when you get in it? Do you leave it there or move it on and off the bed every morning and night?

Not at all, it's been a thing since the 80s.

Meem321 · 25/06/2022 17:47

Never mix patterns;fundamental mistake. In decor or clothing.

And in other news, please never mix navy and black.

Good heavens no it doesn’t go

It's hardly a "Good heavens" problem 😃

Too busy.

Totally

FelixDoublyDelicious · 25/06/2022 17:51

Is this all you need to worry about; are you having an open day on your bedroom décor?

Just buy plain white and it all matches then

🙄

Saw this last night whilst watching Hotel inspector and thought that's how to do pattern!

I love that!

It sounds insane but I can abide pattern for long. That bedroom seems far too busy to my eyes and not very restful.

I'm a huge believer in keep the room as neutral as possible and then introduce any colours and patterns in the furnishing (cushions, throws, etc). These can then easily be changed when you get bored. I'm sure this won't be to everyones taste though.

Don't listen to the catty people OP! Mum is an interior designer and says you could have a couple of cushions made (or make yourself) of the wallpaper pattern to have on the bed to tie it in. Also perhaps changing the runner/blanket at the end to match the wallpaper. Its quite a small room so a mirror may do wonders to the space above the headboard or on the wall facing the window. But at the end of the day if you like it how it is then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks Flowers

Blondiezombie · 25/06/2022 17:56

If you like it that’s all that matters.

Im another that wasnt sure what happened to the pillows. Was it intentional?

I love the bedding.

I love that someone has asked if the pillow look is intentional. What do you think has happened, the OP was jumping on the bed and landed on the pillows?!

I agree that the bedding doesn't go.
I love the curtains & wallpaper but would have had plain lamps & bedding.

^THIS^^

You've got 4 different patterns going on including the lampshade. sorry but It's too much of a clash-pot.

ilovesushi · 25/06/2022 18:03

It's a bit busy, but who cares. Embrace the many florals!

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 25/06/2022 18:05

Wow, some really cunty posts on this thread.

@liftitlikeitshot I like it. I’m not a fan of the curtains with the florals but I like a clashing floral and the colour scheme is nice.

Just as an FYI - ikea have fab blackout curtains in navy and mustard called Majgull.

Sswhinesthebest · 25/06/2022 18:05

I like the wall paper and I like the duvet, but you are right, they don’t go together.

scottishnames · 25/06/2022 18:07

It's not about pattern - mixed paterns can be fine - it's about tonal values.
Wallpaper - which I like FWIW - and curtains blend very well. They are mid-range, muted colours, with low contrast.
The bedding (although fine in itself) is sharply contrasting - dark navy, bright, clear white. This completely clashes with the rest of the room. It's also - IMHO - not very restful.
I agree with others who have said keep the bedding to use elsewhere and replace with plain navy or dull gold or - if simpler - deep cream very plain bedding.

moomims · 25/06/2022 18:08

I love the wallpaper and curtains, the bedding is not my thing but does it really matter if it matches if you like it?

ladycarlotta · 25/06/2022 18:08

It's the white that's too stark with the wallpaper. I don't mind pattern clashing but I think in this case I'd go for plain bedlinen with texture, eg a slubby linen or that waffle type weave. Navy, mustard or green - and if you want white, I'd go for something more ivory/parchment coloured rather than stark plain white.

BeggarsMeddle · 25/06/2022 18:09

If you decide you don't like the bedding and will buy something else you could try dyeing the bedding with a pale yellowish cream dye. Which might mute the harshness off the blue/white and blend in better by softening the overall look. The blue in the paper has a greenish tone, to my eye, so it might work as the blue of the duvet will obviously take on some of the yellow.

ThreeRingCircus · 25/06/2022 18:09

I think it's just the bedding throwing it off. I would pick a warm colour from the wallpaper (e.g a sage green) and buy plain bedding in that colour.

Xmasbaby11 · 25/06/2022 18:11

I like both patterns separately but together they clash, IMO.

LairyMcClairy · 25/06/2022 18:12

I think the bedding is the thing worth keeping- neutral walls and curtains and you’re sorted.

Extratoebeans · 25/06/2022 18:12

Some people are so rude. I really like your room, it looks cosy and inviting, the curtains and wall paper/paint all go together really well, I just think the patter and colours on the duvet cover make it "too much". I agree navy normally works well with yellow. Maybe a plain soft colour, like one thats in the curtains?

But if it doesn't bother you, I wouldn't worry, its your room!

RoseLunarPink · 25/06/2022 18:13

I love patterns, prints and colour and have loads everywhere (the room Charlize43 posted is very tasteful but I'd feel overwhelmed with the blandness like I was stuck inside a giant blancmange)

BUT I don't have any pattern on the walls, just plan off-white. I think a patterned wall and different patterned soft furnishings can clash a bit. I'd probably keep the bedding and redo the wall. However, I've seen plenty of clashing prints and wallpapers on interior design shows and some people love it so if you like it, keep it.

lostinwoods · 25/06/2022 18:16

I like your walls & the bedding, but it just doesn't go together.

Too many patterns. Can you exchange it for something more neutral with no patterns?
