To think this bedding doesn't go in my bedroom?

Spent a lot of money on new bedding as pictured (navy cushions haven't been added yet). I thought a yellow and navy theme for the bedroom but now I've set it all up I'm thinking I've made a mistake. Husband thinks it's fine.

AIBU to think this doesn't go at all?

I noticed the checked curtains before the duvet cover.

Checked curtains with floral wallpaper is too much.

ShirleyPhallus · 25/06/2022 15:26

Agree with everyone, way too many prints / patterns

IMO the best bedrooms look like they have barely anything in them because you have fantastic storage that everything is hiding everything away. I like bedrooms that are nice and simple and without clashing styles.

My absolutely worst things that give me heebie jeebies are too many pillows and esp cushions; shelf or dressing table of dusty bottles of potions; and a TV.

The bedding is nice, it's the rest of the room that isn't

That's not very kind.

It doesn't match ....but if you like it who cares !!!

Sniffypete · 25/06/2022 15:28

The bedding is lovely (apart from the weird shape pillows!) it's the wallpaper that is horrible.

JaneInTheJungle · 25/06/2022 15:30

I'd want a wonton every time I saw those pillows.

coffeecupsandfairylights · 25/06/2022 15:33

It's just all a bit much 😳

Check curtains, floral feature wall, floral lampshades and floral bedding - it's just a bit overwhelming imo.

I think the bedding is pretty, just too many different florals in one room.

KyaClark · 25/06/2022 15:35

Good excuse to change that wall paper.

Squills · 25/06/2022 15:35

I think you're right, the colours don't go. Plain bedding would have been better in a warm tone. The blue and white is nice but it is too stark for the colours in the room.

Higgeldypiggeldy35 · 25/06/2022 15:37

Its too busy. I would choose a colour from the wall paper as a plain bed spread and then choose yellow and another colour from the wall paper as accents for cushions

mangotoo · 25/06/2022 15:21

What's happened to your pillows??? 😵‍💫

I wondered that 🤔

OneFrenchEgg · 25/06/2022 15:41

I love it but not the curtains. The patterns on the bedding and the walls complement each other. I would have plain navy curtains and mustard light shades. Trust me Grin

OneFrenchEgg · 25/06/2022 15:42

Oh and lose what I hope is a mirror and not a framed section of wallpaper.

BogRollBOGOF · 25/06/2022 15:43

There's too much contrast in the bedding compared to the other patterns. Something plain and either neutral or picking up one of the colours from the patterns will be easier on the eye.

Blues and yellows usually go together, there's just a lot going on here.

Snazzysausage · 25/06/2022 15:44

I think the bedding is lovely but I agree too many different patterns.Plain navy curtains and lampshades would help pull it together more in my opinion.

RewildingAmbridge · 25/06/2022 15:46

You can get away with the curtains and wallpaper, but not with the bedding and the lamps too and I love a pattern and colour

Pifflewiffle · 25/06/2022 15:46

Do you like how it looks? If you do, I’d not give a toss what anyone else might think. If you feel cosy and happy in there, I’d leave it alone. If you aren’t sure about it, can you return the bedding? If it’s unused you should be able to. Then you could perhaps choose one of the colours from your wallpaper or curtains and get a plain duvet set in it.

rainbowunicorn · 25/06/2022 15:48

It is very busy as you have 3 different florals and then checks in a small room. I would have gone for plain bedding and curtains and a plain lamp shade with the strong wallpaper pattern. It is all just too much

BronwenFrideswide · 25/06/2022 15:48

It would have been fine if you hadn't got so many different patterns including checks.

It's just too much and looks chaotic.

TheChosenTwo · 25/06/2022 15:48

Woah that’s a lot of pattern in a small room!
I like yellow and navy too but would definitely have gone for a solid block of colour. It just looks a bit too busy I think. Plus I think your pillows need plumping back up!
The question is, can you live with it? I have to say, our bedroom is really plain with solid blocks of colour as I’m personally not a fan of florals or prints in general but you can’t see the wallpaper really from the bed so potentially it’s okay when you’re in bed!

I wondered that 🤔

They've been karate chopped to make it look like it's 1982 again. Honestly it's always been a bit of a daft look.

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 25/06/2022 15:51

Seeing as your eyes will be closed for most of the time you are in there I'm not sure it matters. But for what it's worth I like all the different patterns. Much nicer than boring minimalism.
