To think this bedding doesn't go in my bedroom?

Spent a lot of money on new bedding as pictured (navy cushions haven't been added yet). I thought a yellow and navy theme for the bedroom but now I've set it all up I'm thinking I've made a mistake. Husband thinks it's fine.

AIBU to think this doesn't go at all?

OP, can you spread the blue coverlet out so it covers the white florals, to give an idea of how it would look with plain blue bedlinen?

PortalooSunset · 25/06/2022 17:13

I think it looks lovely, but in a "it would be nice in a little country hotel but not in my house" way.

What's happened to your pillows??? 😵‍💫

I think a Whippet must have trounced them!
@liftitlikeitshot
Too ''Busy'' overall, the wallpaper is fine on it's own, ditto everything else, but all crammed together, it's far too overwhelming.
A little ''Bold'' pattern goes a long way, needs balancing with plain stuff.

bridgetreilly · 25/06/2022 17:16

It’s a muted greyish yellow, so I would not pair it with navy and white. A greyer blue would work better, but I would go with a paler colour and no pattern.

Sausagesarnieplease · 25/06/2022 17:18

I like the bedding, but think it clashes with the wall. I personally would have plain bedding with that paper. Or plain wall with patterned bedding but it tends to be cheaper and a hell of a lot easier to change bedding than walls!

winniesanderson · 25/06/2022 17:19

That wallpaper is amazing! Similar pattern mixes going on in my bedroom. And to my mind it does clash, but literally no one sees it so who cares.

starfishmummy · 25/06/2022 17:21

The bedding is fine. It's the wallpaper which isn't

HaveringWavering · 25/06/2022 17:22

Pattern clashing/maximalism is a thing. It sometimes works better in person than in a picture. I doubt you’d be able to return the bedding now anyway would you OP? I suggest keep it, swap out with a plain set when you wash it so the room is not permanently pattern-maxxed, and maybe change the lampshades and curtains to plain.
It does look nice quality.

Lottle · 25/06/2022 17:24

Some of these comments aren't very kind. Sorry this is bothering you. I get very sad if my home isn't as I want it xxxx
@liftitlikeitshot this may have been said but keep the navy bits and swap the blue floral bedding for a plain colour eg white, maybe

Fairyliz · 25/06/2022 17:24

Too many patterns in a small room unfortunately.

gunnersgold · 25/06/2022 17:27

Just get a blue bedspread to cover the bedding in the day . Then when it wears out buy a plain blue set .

Teachereducator · 25/06/2022 17:28

I like it.

caringcarer · 25/06/2022 17:28

I love the bedding but never keen on yellow. Pale grey walls and curtains would go well with your navy bedding. I find pale grey goes well with blush pink too.

LifeInsideMyhead · 25/06/2022 17:28

Im another that wasnt sure what happened to the pillows. Was it intentional?

I love the bedding.

Xanthovalent · 25/06/2022 17:32

I think it looks fine - and I'm surprised by that tbh due to the four patterns. It has a boutique hotel vibe.
If you want to calm it down a bit I would go for plain mustard lampshades and plain bedding (white, navy or mustard).

BritWifeInUSA · 25/06/2022 17:33

That’s a tiny bedroom. It looks very busy and too many different florals in too small a space. Plain bedding would be much better. And plain curtains.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 25/06/2022 17:34

Switch the duvet cover for a plain white and keep the navy throw and cushions.

snowgirl1 · 25/06/2022 17:35

I'd go for plain white bedding

DianaBarry5 · 25/06/2022 17:36

Saw this last night whilst watching Hotel inspector and thought that's how to do pattern!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 25/06/2022 17:37

I love everything except the bedding, sorry. It's a beautiful room apart from that. Just put a different bedcover over it with a couple of different cushions.

The way the karate'd pillows make it look like two giant cats have sneaked under the covers is cute.

alphons · 25/06/2022 17:38

Bloody hell, you need skin as thick as hide to ask a simple question on MN these days!

If the only two people using that room are you and your DH, and he doesn’t mind, do whatever you want. What impact could the opinion of random people you don’t know have on your choice of sheets and duvet cover that only the two of you use? Seems it only serves to invite people to be rude to you!

Mally100 · 25/06/2022 17:38

I think the wallpaper makes the room very dated. You need something lighter and less patterned. The bedding is lovely though.

speakout · 25/06/2022 17:39

OP no-one's opinion actually matters here.
We are just some random people.
Enjoy your own taste. You are the one living in the bedroom.
I would suggest living with it for a while- sometimes things become clearer with time.

HintofVintagePink · 25/06/2022 17:39

Too much in a small space. Go for a plain bedding set then add a patterned throw in a colour picked out from the wallpaper, which is beautiful. You don’t need cushions on a bed that small. Also plain lamps.

catsonahottinroof · 25/06/2022 17:43

I think it's the contrast between the muted yellow colour scheme, and the bright white with navy. It would look really nice with just plain navy.
