To think this bedding doesn't go in my bedroom?

Spent a lot of money on new bedding as pictured (navy cushions haven't been added yet). I thought a yellow and navy theme for the bedroom but now I've set it all up I'm thinking I've made a mistake. Husband thinks it's fine.

AIBU to think this doesn't go at all?

Clashing patterns, and even florals, is definitely a trend but yours don't work because the colours are wrong. I'd go with plain bedding i think. Ditch the lampshades too. The curtains and wall are fine together IMO.

IHaventStoppedCravingYet · 25/06/2022 16:30

I like the wallpaper and curtains/blind. I also like the duvet and throw - do you have a spare room they can be used in? Then get plain white bedding and a throw and cushions using the mustard and/or grey from the other furnishings. Plus some plain lampshades. So all nice things just not together.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 25/06/2022 16:32

I think the wall paper is lovely but the bedding doesn't go. I tend to use the colour chart to decide what colours are made for each other and with yellow Id put a pale plain purple bedding or a nice subtle green.

Crucible · 25/06/2022 16:32

Change the comforter to something much lighter, like one of the lighter blues or greens in the curtains or the wallpaper. That'll fix it.

bloodyunicorns · 25/06/2022 16:34

Checked curtains, yellow floral wallpaper, and blue floral bedspread? No. It's all a bit busy and the patterns don't go.

I'd go with plain curtains and plain blue bedspread with cushions/throw in plain yellow or blue.

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 25/06/2022 16:35

I think the bedding is nice and would look fine if the wall behind your bed was the same colour as the rest of your walls.

My bedroom is the same colour as your walls.

worriedaboutmoney2022 · 25/06/2022 16:37

I absolutely love your wallpaper
The bedding is also nice

But for me I wouldn't personally have put them together I'd have had plain bedding but if you like it down worry

Please can you share where you got the wallpaper from?

Sunshine10012 · 25/06/2022 16:37

Reminds me of a posh hotel I stayed in in Oxford. Sometimes clashing patterns works.
either way you’ve only got to sleep in it so it doesn’t really matter.

Laiste · 25/06/2022 16:38

Poor OP.

You were brave to post a pic of your home on here!

I think the wall paper and curtains go together ok.

But the bedding is really random.

Your lamps could do with being plain like the bedding should be. A very pale gold/cream like that plain wall. That would make the feature wall really pop.

Scianel · 25/06/2022 16:39

Wow that is pattern overload. The colours would be okay but everything has a clashing pattern.

carbay · 25/06/2022 16:42

Have you put up a picture of your bedroom before OP, minus the bedding? It looks familiar, it's really cosy. Sorry, the bedding clashes, but I like the rest.

bananaboats · 25/06/2022 16:44

I don't think anything in the room matches at all!

ventreàterre · 25/06/2022 16:45

I wouldn't worry about it, tbh. If you want to tie in the yellow walls with the bedding, maybe try a plain yellow accent cushion or throw for the foot of the bed. If you have a warmer light switched on at night (which is when you're probably use the room the most), the white bedding will look less stark.

‘Karate chop pillows’ 🤣

Can't stop chuckling at this

Stravaig · 25/06/2022 16:47

It's not about how it looks, or what we think, but whether it feels restful, cosy, homey to you? How do you want your bedroom to feel, OP? We're all different.

I see three different florals and a check, in two strong colours, plus the wooden bedframe adds warm tones which are bothering me when combined with all the rest. Can you narrow down which element of the room is making you rethink?

For me, I prefer a wooden floor, white walls, iron bedstead, and mostly white or plain bedlinen, with just a splash of vivid colour. I don't have this at the moment. I also have no idea what is considered stylish at any given time, so I'm no help there!

19lottie82 · 25/06/2022 16:48

One thing I’ve realised after adding a feature wall on my bedroom is that you can’t do pattered bed sheets.

Newpuppymummy · 25/06/2022 16:53

Too many patterns for me. If you like it…great!!! Would be boring if every room was the same

Wideawakeandconfused · 25/06/2022 16:58

It’s gold not yellow, shiny. They doesn’t go although are nice in their own right.

Monimom · 25/06/2022 17:04

I agree OP. It's a lovely set, but the cool crispness of the navy and white doesn't sit well with the warm colours elsewhere. If you’re keen on more blue bedding - a plain, muted, mid blue would work. Something in linen maybe.

PS I like your wallpaper and curtains and think they work well together.

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/06/2022 17:05

Are you trying for for mismatched florals? The look needs bringing together. Right now it looks as if the bedding is for a different room.

butterpuffed · 25/06/2022 17:07

liftitlikeitshot · 25/06/2022 15:27

That's not very kind.

It's seems to be the aim of lots of MNers, nothing gives them greater pleasure than having a dig .

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 25/06/2022 17:09

Mismatched florals and checks can work. You need to play with the scale though, also be careful with the background and accent colour.

Here you only have very few colours and the same scale, it's not going to work.

Belephant · 25/06/2022 17:09

It seems I'm in the minority, but I actually really like how the wallpaper, lampshade, and curtains all go together.

I do think you need a plain bedding set though, sorry op. And I'd definitely go for a colour from the wallpaper, but would avoid white for this room x

Sandra1984 · 25/06/2022 17:10

It doesn't match at all because the patterns are too busy, too different and don't compliment each other. You should have chosen a creme or neutral colour for the bedding. If you can't return the bedding paint the bedroom walls in blue 😀

Well yes, case in point, as you yourself are having a dig at other members 😂
