I was just wondering why we're not allowed to post about this case-the deletion message mentioned it was ongoing so wouldnt be fair to the family

Charlie gards case was on going and there was numerous threads about it

Anyway if this stands maybe we can discuss

Holy shit. Dignity for all has put up quite a post tonight. That Ella Carter is a piece of work! Also was the right to appeal granted today because the family haven't said a thing on the page.

I saw that, about the trolling
And also the video of her saying how much better he's doing and needing not as much care/medication

Quia · 18/07/2022 23:31

Today was the deadline for the family to apply for leave to appeal. They have probably lodged the papers but the court will need time to consider them.

IfIHadAHeart · 19/07/2022 07:56

Has anyone seen the lates video on AA page? I’m not sure this is the place to say what I really think, so will settle for just saying it’s disturbing.

DazedandConcerned · 19/07/2022 08:17

Appeal has been granted. Very jovial video of Hollie stating so and how she held off announcing it to make the Dignity of All page squirm. In her position I wouldn’t be a) so happy or b) so concerned about SM.

Quia · 19/07/2022 08:24

It's certainly a bit bizarre that at a time like this she's giving headspace to making someone who runs a FB page squirm.

I would also want to clarify whether leave to appeal has actually been granted, or whether she's talking about lodging the papers to apply for leave to appeal.

IfIHadAHeart · 19/07/2022 09:09

There’s something about that video that makes me so so cross. The smug thumbs up across poor Archie’s little body, the fact that at a time like this she’s even giving thought to getting one over on the “trolls”, the way she joked about people thinking Archie had died.

i think she is extremely unwell, needs to come off social media and surround herself with better people than those currently supporting her.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/07/2022 09:09

I can find nothing in online news about a further appeal being granted ... ?

SunflowerGardens · 19/07/2022 09:24

To be fair- it would be annoying if you were waiting for your son to die and a page kept digging into your past and diligently trying to find out information and spread it. But that's what happens when you go public with these things! Of course people are going to discuss these cases and have an opinion on them. It seems to have become a bit of an obsession with DFA but she never acknowledges all the long standing and often very critical threads on Tattle, Kiwi and even this one?

I think her or her followers are very literate when it comes to forums & the internet, and so they probably haven't seen them.

I hope they aren't linked to Hollie because she's already become very obsessive with DFA - messaging members, referring to it in interviews etc, and it can't be good for her mental health.

Quia · 19/07/2022 09:41

According to Ella Carter, the appeal argument is along the lines of "If he's going to die anyway he should just be left to die, that isn't an argument for bringing his life to an end prematurely". The trouble is, of course, they don't want him to be left to die. They want the machines to keep forcing air into him until his heart manages to give up despite the machines.

If they want a "natural" death, I wonder how they would react to a suggestion that all those unnatural drugs be withdrawn?

I suppose it’s much easier to access the DFA page than Kiwi Farms or even Tattle.

There’s quite a lot to plough through on both sites (especially the KF one where AB appears about 3/4 through a massive thread) and if you’re communicating mainly through Facebook then that’s your sphere.

Plus, when it comes to the ‘army’ most of them are thick as pig shit with little to no critical thinking skills and probably wouldn’t have the patience or willingness to access these forums.

Quia · 19/07/2022 09:42

It's a bit odd that she focuses on DFA and nothing else, though. I don't think I've ever seen a reference to the kiwi pages, for instance, let alone this thread.

Quia · 19/07/2022 09:45

I'd be amazed if someone hasn't put forward a direct link to the page on Kiwi where the discussion starts. Certainly if I were in Hollie's shoes I wouldn't even want to begin reading it, but then I wouldn't want to read DFA or indeed do most of the things she's doing. I suspect that the reality is they don't want to publicise it, which, on thinking about it, is fair enough.

SunflowerGardens · 19/07/2022 09:48

@pinkred the funny part is the group all use DFA for updates on the court cases as the family don't update the group until hours afterwards!

LuckyLil · 19/07/2022 09:52

I don't know but I can't see this being allowed to continue much longer. We've seen these situations again and again and every parent fights the reality to the bitter end but I'm the end they always conclude the same way. Life support will be withdrawn one way or another.

JustDanceAddict · 19/07/2022 10:57

Clarabe1 · 18/07/2022 19:11

All this is because Hollie cannot cope with the manner of his death and I think everyone knows what I mean by that. Create an enemy and something to fill your time and delay the day when you have to face up to some uncomfortable truths. I really worry for her when that day finally comes and she has to sit through an inquest.

I just saw her on TM and they were my thoughts too.

But then there's posts again of how it's extra time so he can heal he can wake up..so again they either believe he will or they don't.

It's upsetting because it's starkly obvious to everyone else that to be ventiliated and not require sedation is a very bad sign.

Clarabe1 · 19/07/2022 18:57

I am genuinely baffled on how many incredibly not just thick but odd people exist. Archie’s Army, who the hell are these people? Hollie obviously has her demons and she will face the day when this incredible fantasy she has built will come crashing down but what do the army do when it’s all over? Find another sick child or move onto another page? It bewilders me.

Quia · 19/07/2022 19:11

I suspect Hollie will try to keep things going with attempts to sue the hospital and its unfortunate staff. With any luck she won't get anywhere, because I doubt that the Christian Legal Centre would bankroll that (not least because of the risk that they could be ordered to pay costs if or when she loses) and I very much doubt she would find a lawyer willing to take on the claim on a no win no fee basis.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/07/2022 19:11

Yes, that's exactly what so many of these types do. Despite bleating "We love you" - and this about someone they don't even know - it seems to be the drama which attracts them, and once it's over so is their attention

They are called grief tourist's. As soon as this case is over they will move on to the next one. Its all weird saying you love a child you've never met or getting a tattoo done! These people obviously have something lacking in their lives!

Yes, and the people saying they have had dreams about Archie, or that they want to visit the hospital and hug and kiss him. The tattoos are insane. It makes you wonder if there are people out their with a arm full of ink of kid's names that they have seen on the news.
Some of the suggestions given to his mum have been utterly batshit with some bordering on dangerous. Putting his fingers in soil, health supplement enemas, putting food into his mouth etc
Someone suggested a medium. I wont be surprised if a medium gets in touch and claims to already be in touch with Archie.

The whole story started of as sad, and now it is just getting weirder, and it feels like we are watching someone have a very public mental breakdown.

pinkred · 19/07/2022 20:29

Aye @XenoBitch

Someone linked a renowned neurooncology surgeon from Barcelona who they think the family should contact - cue lots of "worth a try!" type comments.

I'm sure he's fantastic at his job, but archie doesn't need surgery nor does he have a brain tumour. It's just maddening.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 19/07/2022 20:32

I feel so very sorry for his parents.
As others have said, this horrendous grief army will move on when the time comes and the parents will be be left to deal with their grief on their own.
