whynotwhatknot · 21/06/2022 16:32

I was just wondering why we're not allowed to post about this case-the deletion message mentioned it was ongoing so wouldnt be fair to the family

Charlie gards case was on going and there was numerous threads about it

Anyway if this stands maybe we can discuss

This is getting ridiculous now.

LanieM87 · 17/07/2022 12:32

He's not in a coma though...

Dear me.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 17/07/2022 12:41

I found the interview on GB very strange, for people who haven't read the judgement and are solely listening to Hollie must be confused.

There are plenty of people who wouldn't investigate further.

She wants his body home no matter what.

If he is being fed artificially too, would he have a stoma bag or have his waste manually evacuated? Between that and regularly blood tests on top of regularly transfusions, the staff must be on their knees.

nolongersurprised · 17/07/2022 13:02

She wants his body home no matter what

she doesn’t realise or appreciate the massive effort it takes to keep his heart still beating. Even if he went home with a ventilator he has diabetes insipidus because of brain stem death. This has nothing to do with blood sugar but is related to the hormone that concentrates urine, he doesn’t make this at all. Without fluid correction and exogenous hormones he would pass uncontrollable amounts of dilute urine and his heart would stop from hypovolaemic shock.

Not to mention his need for potassium corrections several times/day. Both too high and too low potassiums result in cardiac arrest.

He wouldn’t survive the day out of PICU, even if he was somehow ventilated at home.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/07/2022 13:15

He's requiring 2:1 nursing at times because of how unstable his fluid balance is. So that won't happen!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 17/07/2022 13:26

thankfully there arent many cases like this - this is awful for everybody

TheIsaacs · 17/07/2022 16:36

Would Archie’s organs even be useable for donation at this point? If there is necrotic fluid in his lungs, surely his other organs are deteriorating too?

MakeMineALarge1 · 17/07/2022 17:10

No. His organs would not be able to be used.

MakeMineALarge1 · 17/07/2022 17:11

I suspect, even if they were viable, they wouldn't be used because of the publicity around this case.

His mum said no anyway. Why she keeps going on about forced organ donation, I don't know.

That's what I dont get but apparently that's mainly the reason they're turning his support off..for his organs. Clutching at straws

Vates · 17/07/2022 18:05

It is absolutely horrible but he is dead, very dead. Doctor's have put evidence twice now that he won't wake up and brain is rotting. But here's round 3.

Quia · 17/07/2022 18:09

The army idiots have no concept of the fact that medical research is strictly regulated. You can't just decide overnight that you fancy doing random research on a patient that you've read about in a newspaper or on a Facebook page, or because his relative contacts you - there has to be a valid reason for the research, there have to be blind and double blind trials, there are strict codes of medical ethics to be complied with, and there has to be a genuine reason for the research. To say nothing of the fact that researchers need to be paid, and people funding research therefore also like to know that it's serving a useful purpose.

Presumably if someone really wanted to do research on Archie, they would also have to take over full financial responsibility for his care. I don't think research funding is ever going to be that generous.

If they lose tommrow which is likely seeing the way the evidence points can they go elsewhere or would that be it? Know with other cases it got to higher? Or other courts though same outcome

Quia · 17/07/2022 18:11

If they don't get permission to appeal tomorrow from the Court of Appeal, I think that's as far as they can go in our court system, but they may be able to go to the ECHR.

Ohh right. More then likely then if the option is there. I dont think being told no tommrow will make them come to terms with anything yet.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 18/07/2022 08:58

It won't be long until he physically starts deteriorating around the face.

There was a case in Ireland before the abortion referendum, the young DM died while pregnant and they had to keep her alive artificially until the court case for the baby growing inside her.

Eventually they were both allowed to die, the family of the young lady are traumatised especially her living young daughter watching DM'S deterioration.

Archie's family won't enjoy memories of his life before the accident, his last months will consume their thoughts and memories.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/07/2022 09:07

the mum said on the news that she was considering the Supreme Court

I suppose the Army figure they survive without brains, maybe he can too.

I hope for Archie’s sake that all of this circus can come to an end soon, he can pass peacefully and his family can begin to grieve properly without the vultures swooping around them.

AmberR12 · 18/07/2022 11:56

The ironic thing of this case is whilst his mum is fighting to keep her son alive she is indirectly probably going to cause deaths of some on the donor waiting list with her crazy theories and encouraging people to remove themselves from the donor register

SunflowerGardens · 18/07/2022 17:44

All those people on the group posting 'come on open them beautiful blue eyes 💜💜💜' don't they ever think maybe today isn't the day? Maybe it isn't going to happen. I know it's a devastating thought although having said that nearly everyone posting those things haven't ever met Archie and never will meet him either.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/07/2022 09:07

the mum said on the news that she was considering the Supreme Court

Who pays for all this?

Quia · 18/07/2022 18:17

She's highly unlikely to get to the Supreme Court without going through the Court of Appeal first and, if or when that goes against her, applying for permission again.

I assume payment of the parents' costs is coming from the Christian Legal Centre and possibly her deluded followers' contributions. In the meantime the lucky taxpayer gets to pick up the tab for the hospital and the guardian.

Clarabe1 · 18/07/2022 19:11

All this is because Hollie cannot cope with the manner of his death and I think everyone knows what I mean by that. Create an enemy and something to fill your time and delay the day when you have to face up to some uncomfortable truths. I really worry for her when that day finally comes and she has to sit through an inquest.

SunflowerGardens · 18/07/2022 22:56

Holy shit. Dignity for all has put up quite a post tonight. That Ella Carter is a piece of work! Also was the right to appeal granted today because the family haven't said a thing on the page.
