I was just wondering why we're not allowed to post about this case-the deletion message mentioned it was ongoing so wouldnt be fair to the family

Charlie gards case was on going and there was numerous threads about it

Anyway if this stands maybe we can discuss

I have a morbid fascination with this as theres a good chance I may end up on life support at some point (and ive told everyone that when the Drs say switch off.. do it!)..

Surely.. if he is kept on life support much longer... I mean, won't bits start to drop off/leak out?

How long can you preserve a brain if it really has no blood supply.. in a warm environment.. before it liquidizes itself and .. leaks.

I don't like thinking about this sort of stuff but it's been going on so long, it's kind of hard not to.

His parents sound nuts, I feel for them, losing a child and to suicide at that, is horrific.. but... this is truly batshit.

iloveeverykindofcat · 16/07/2022 12:32

@nolongersurprised Oh yes I wasn't suggesting he was actually doing a challenge just that something of the type might exist. He was twelve not six, he knew what he was doing. Besides he didn't even have a phone on him.

LilacRose30 · 16/07/2022 13:06

The poor boy. I’m sure he may have been a handful but you can tell that he was so loved and his poor mother will never get over the actions he took that day.

But, and I say this with all the goodwill in the world, the time has come. That poor boy has endured so much and he is just a shell. I couldn’t imagine how torturous this must be for Hollie, but she has been goaded and encouraged by this despicable army, and she has been clutching at hope for so long and she truly believes that he can live. In her interview last night she said “I love him, even if he’s disabled”. It’s awful but he isn’t disabled; poor Archie isn’t there anymore. He cannot survive. I hope Hollie can soon come to terms with this and realise that the judgement yesterday (which I felt was superbly written), is meant with Archie’s very best interests at heart.

It is time to let him go so he can be at peace, and not be a spectacle of false hope any longer.

That's the sad thing. I dont think she is coming to terms. She's said how wants more time so he can wake up and feels the judge is heartless and anti life. I get emotions are high but someone should be supporting her come to terms with this all not supporting her views.

Totally agree - she needs to understand the medics are trying to help her do what is right for Archie, and not continue to believe the delusions the Army are trying to blind her with. She has to put Archie and his needs first, not her own. The poor lad has gone through enough now, there is no coming back for him, sadly

Quia · 16/07/2022 14:22

She said she wanted him to be given six months. I suspect for the hospital staff the thought of this carrying on for another three months is an absolute nightmare - it sounds as if, as it is, maintaining his system is a real tightrope walk. And unfortunately the reality is that she may be even more entrenched after 6 months if he made it that far.

I will post the link when I find it, but there was a brain dead 4 year who was kept on a ventilator for 20 years.
An autopsy was carried out. Their brain was a calcified lump. It does make for a horrifying, but interesting read.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 16/07/2022 15:01

His little body is already wasting away, he cannot go through this for another 6 months.

Crazycatlady83 · 16/07/2022 15:03

It's been reported that Mother, in court, accepted Archie is gone but in media interviews she maintains that he is still "in there"

The difference of position of the mother between what she says in court and what she actually means is quite common in Court proceedings. In court she would have had the advice of her barrister and (normally) would have received sensible advice about the reality of the situation. In that moment, clients often agree with a position they don't necessarily "agree" with (I'm not in any way saying the barrister is misleading / pressurising the client or the court!)

When court is finished and she is outside that influence obviously isn't there and she reverts back to how she actually feels.

As a lawyer it's a very tricky situation to be in. You want to give your client sensible advice but don't want to push them too hard into a position that simply isn't theirs!

I'd be interested in reading that, yeah, thanks :)

Not to mention driving round punching folk in the nose and is the bloke of the same surname living in the same area who attacked a woman with scissors any relation?

HuffleWoof · 16/07/2022 16:06

@WiddlinDiddlin it's her brother

Crazycatlady83 · 16/07/2022 16:20

I was on the last thread, posts like the last couple got it taken down.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/07/2022 16:21

A fascinating if grim read, XenoBitch

I'm not clever enough to understand some of the nuances, but then I'm not a religious leader either and it's hard to avoid thinking it was written with the obvious intention of supporting a given theological position

Unlike this report it's probably safe to assume the autopsy was done by an objective professional, but overall I can't help hoping the "Army" don't get hold of the Father's comments, because they'd probably regard them as proof positive that Archie's still alive

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/07/2022 16:31

So was I, and yes they did

I've never had a problem with facts myself, and if they are facts it's hard to see how they can be "inflammatory", "misleading" or any of the other things which are against guidelines. However it's MN's site, they clearly don't welcome anything except a "poor parents" narrative, so if we want the thread to continue it's probably best to avoid anything like this

campingwidow · 16/07/2022 21:24

Did anyone else see Archie's mum's interview with GB News today. It was a lot. But the saddest thing was in about the last minute Hollie was asked "who's looking after you... who gives you a hug at the end of the day". And she really couldn't think of an answer then said something like "Archie does". It broke my heart for her. Whatever you might think of her, her intention etc etc. it's clear she doesn't really have any proper in real life support.

That's what's sad. For all her accusations thrown at the hospital and judge and her posts on the group you'd thought someone would help her see what is happening isn't cruel and she isn't failing him and it isnt murder etc. Just seems there isn't. Hopefully when the time comes she has the right support and afterwards and onwards but at this moment..doesnt seem to be there! Hopefully in real life there is but who knows.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 16/07/2022 21:54

I hope her older DC support her when the time comes.

What do you mean about not having a phone on him?

EmeraldShamrock1 · 16/07/2022 21:54

I hope her older DC support her when the time comes.

Her older children were trolling a facebook page, hurling abuse and putting smiley faces and lols on comments just minutes after court got out this week. Sadly, I don't foresee them being the support she needs.

SunflowerGardens · 16/07/2022 22:04

@LetsGoFlyAKiteee anyone who post anything vaguely realistic and helpful from the group gets banned. Even posting the court judgement gets you banned.

HuffleWoof · 16/07/2022 22:09

@kittensinthekitchen if Archie was doing an online challenge. He would have been filming it to put it online. He didn't have his phone with him.

I think his mum needs a lot of support
