To think neighbours should have sent out a polite notice that there will be a wedding in their garden?

Just that really

They have a field, and in the last couple of days I have seen a massive circus tent marquee go up. I have only noticed it as I happened to go on a walk that way

We live on a single track lane with no parking. The only access will be walking down our lane, past our houses. I am guessing there will be 200 to 300 guests by the size of marquee.

We are in a neighbours Whatsapp group. All they needed to say was
'It's going to be a bit busy and noisy on Saturday, our DC is getting married. It should be finished around 11:30pm'

Well you'd imagine that they would also have had to inform the neighbours about these things too

Where does the “had to” come into it? These neighbours didn’t have to let everyone know about a wedding but it would have the neighbourly thing to do - just as it would have been neighbourly to let those around you know about a noisy teenage party. That way, you avoid having the vows spoiled by the sound of screaming teens and drum and bass thumping across the fields.

The music stopped fairly abruptly at 12:30am. 10 mins later the guests started to walk to the end of the lane which then started my dog to bark but all over by 1am. Sounds like they had a great time.

What would I have done, if i had known earlier? I could have visited my parents or brother for the night. I am a really light sleeper, I find it hard to get to sleep generally. I wear ear plugs every night but they only muffle sound, not eradicate it. My sleeping habits are not relevant though

Doesn’t sound too bad at all.

I had a neighbour in my old house who had parties that spilled outside into his garden (which was under my bedroom window) at about that time. He had a friend with the worst laugh I have ever heard. Years later I can still hear her cackling and screeching.

hopefully they will do a good clean up.

12.30am sounds very reasonable.

Of course it would have been even more reasonable if the neighbours had told you what to expect, and that it would end at that time.

I'm surprised at how early it finished.

Ah that's not bad at all, glad my prediction of 3am was wrong, (but have people forgotten how to party or what?! Wink)
