I thought I would start a thread. It's muggy and I'm tired. I can't wait for the cool Autumn days and darker evenings 🤣

Certainties of Mumsnet:-

Trillions of posters who hate summer
Trillions of posters who wash their towels/bed linen/jeans after every use.

PS just thought, a lot of this will be linked to working hours and commute. When I worked longer hours, I did like the fact that it was lighter longer but now happily
i never work late!

userxx · 15/06/2022 21:03

I bloody love it, it's going to get ridiculously hot on Friday so I'm skiivving work and heading to the nearest beer garden.

tigger1001 · 15/06/2022 21:05

I'm in Scotland and it's been around 20 degrees outside today. Very warm and clammy at times and indoors at work really sticky. But then we have these who won't open windows as it's too cold so I just have to feel uncomfortable. No air conditioning at work.

These threads are always the same. But different people feel comfortable at different temperatures. I don't feel cold easily so am happier in cooler weather but the flip side to that is I feel hot quicker than some others do.

I have my bedroom windows open almost all year round. Hate trying to sleep when it's warm.

I know I would struggle to live somewhere warm. But then again warmer climates are more geared up to dealing with warmer weather. Here, houses are all about keeping heat in rather than keeping cool.

We get three months of summer if we’re lucky. Please don’t begrudge those of us who enjoy it. Much as winter depresses me, I have to put up with it.

Fortunately the summer haters don't get to control the weather so.....

User48751490 · 15/06/2022 21:06

20C here today. Awful. Tried to stay in most of today. Far too hot.

LezzaTheBean · 15/06/2022 21:06

WTAF? I love it. I am depressed for about 8 dark, shitty, cold, rainy months of the year. So I make the absolute most of hot days.

tigger1001 · 15/06/2022 21:09

RampantIvy · 15/06/2022 20:57

Not the first! Have read at least 1 other in the last week

But it hasn't been hot until today.

Define hot. Everyone will have a different answer to that.

Where I am has had spells of lovely weather. The jubilee weekend was glorious here. Spent that whole weekend in the garden as was so lovely. T-shirt and shorts. Sun cream ( but to be fair I burn really easily so wear factor 50 if even a hint of sun)

georgarina · 15/06/2022 21:11

No, summer is so much easier!! No more bundling the kids into layers of clothes, just little shorts and summer dresses and I'm done

Exactly! So much more goes on in summer months, I'm fully making the most of it.

Ponderingwindow · 15/06/2022 21:13

I often spend hot summer days looking at real estate in areas known to be particularly foggy. I don’t really care for rain, but I love fog. My ideal home would be encased in fog every morning and I would sit outside watching it slowly burn off or go for a nice walk without laying spf clothing and the highest spf sun cream I can find and still end up with a sunburn.

Friars23 · 15/06/2022 21:14

I am envious of all the colder weather lovers as the U.K. climate is a good fit. I dislike the frequent grey days we have in this country and think Southern Europe would be my dream climate.

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 15/06/2022 21:20

This winter seemed to go on and on and on....l usually don't mind winter but after 2 years of lockdowns and restrictions l just craved some warm weather and light evenings.
But do think Friday will be unbearable

Me too! I'm just so much happier when it's this time of year! Last year was disappointing

ilovesooty · 15/06/2022 21:27

How can 20C be "far too hot"?

Witchofthedales · 15/06/2022 21:35

I'm in the far north and it is bloody freezing! I've had a fleece on for the last week. Some sunshine and heat would be gratefully received.

Because people are different. Some will feel far too hot and uncomfortable at that temperature, especially if in a building that's more designed to keep heat in than out.

Know quite a few people that wear short sleeves and shorts shorts all year round here as they don't feel cold easily.

Applegreenb · 15/06/2022 21:36

I am dreading Friday already! Definitely found my kind of people.

i like spring and autumn and up to 21/22c but ideally 19/20c. Anything beyond that I’m really uncomfortable, super pale and not built for the heat.

I am most definitely built for the UK weather and of northern hemisphere decent. I wish I liked warm weather better. I really do love a walk in the winter then a hot chocolate by a fire.

IHateFlies · 15/06/2022 21:41

Get a fan, if you don't have one. Makes such a difference.
Then make yourself a nice cold drink, with ice and have a cool shower before bed.

Isitsixoclockalready · 15/06/2022 21:45

With the energy bills constantly going up, may the warmer weather last as long as possible!

Anon1234ABC · 15/06/2022 21:53

With you OP. Had a shower and came out sweatier than I went in. Swimming pool hydro pool was too hot and brought me out in a rash. Dog is panting before we go wallows. Horses being eaten alive by flies, sunburnt nose on the one who refuses to be caught for sun cream and judge wouldn't allow jackets to be removed at dressage Angryended up feeling like a roast turkey. Come on October, we're waiting for your cool mornings and nights, being able to walk dog without booties and enjoying the steam room at the gym again!

Hellsbe · 15/06/2022 21:55

This thread is batshit! 20 degrees much too hot😀

RampantIvy · 15/06/2022 21:58

The jubilee weekend was glorious here.

Thursday and Friday were pleasant. Saturday and Sunday were cold and cloudy - coat weather. We froze at a barbecue.
