I thought I would start a thread. It's muggy and I'm tired. I can't wait for the cool Autumn days and darker evenings 🤣

I'm with you!

This. ^ How daft to be moaning about the heat and the summer, when it's ONLY JUST STARTED! It's only bloody mid June FFS, and the temperature hasn't even reached 30C yet. In fact, it's not even going to reach 25C for much of the UK. Get a grip @anon2334 As this poster said, we only get 3 months of summer anyway, and winter is SO depressing and damp and cold and miserable, and I HATE it being dark at bloody 4.30 in the afternoon.

LONG LIVE THE SUMMER!!! 😝

A580Hojas · 16/06/2022 09:37

Yabu.

I'm not good in very hot weather at all but I really hate to see these threads cropping up the minute the sun comes out. The vast majority of people love a bit of sunshine and it just seems like misery plopping to me.

I could understand if we've had weeks or extreme heat, and I might join in too, but really this is the first actually hot day of the year I think for me (London) and I find the negativity annoying. Sorry.

Anxiernie · 16/06/2022 09:40

Me neither.

I rarely have my heating on in the colder months anyway, sometimes I still sleep with a window open in the bedroom in winter.

I like to be cool and my bedding cold. I feel like my internal temp is quite warm cos always overheat but can deal with chilly very well. Heating on and windows shut makes the air cloying.

Inthesameboatatmo · 16/06/2022 09:13

Absolutely this.

It’s a good thing that people who hate the heat don’t control the weather, eh?! Can’t turn the sun off! Honestly!!

Stravaig · 16/06/2022 09:42

Not sure why all the sun and heat worshippers aren't out there enjoying it, instead of being curmudgeonly on our lovely summer-hating winter-loving support thread ❄️🌨🥶☃️🛷🏂⛷🧤

Anxiernie · 16/06/2022 09:42

we only get 3 months of summer anyway, and winter is SO depressing I feel the same way about summer and heat though. People have preferences. It doesn't annoy me when people complain they are too cold and can't wait for summer.

Anxiernie · 16/06/2022 09:43

We also get 3 months of every season....

June July August
September October November
December Jan Feb
March April May

20C 'TOO HOT' ?? Get a grip! @User48751490

I don't tolerate the heat well at all, then the pollen count rises which makes it difficult to be outdoors as I am on strong antihistamines but still badly affected by hayfever. Yes it is too hot for some of us. Get a grip yourself!

Anxiernie · 16/06/2022 09:47

I don't get it. It's warm enough at last to wear a linen top and skirt. To dump the sweaters and cardigans

You don't understand that some people prefer sweaters and cardigans to linen tops and skirts? It's very easy. Just like I understand you clearly prefer the latter.

Anxiernie · 16/06/2022 09:49

20C 'TOO HOT' ?? Get a grip!

10-14 is ideal. Yet some people will complain that's "too cold".

People enjoy and feel different ways in different temperatures. Shocking, isn't it!? Truly unbelievable.

JaneJeffer · 16/06/2022 09:51

Please send me any unwanted hot weather.

Anxiernie · 16/06/2022 09:52

Some people like sitting outside in the warm weather with a glass of wine. Some people enjoy sitting in the garden on a cold, crisp morning with light frost or mist, in a big warm dressing gown and a lovely cuppa.

We don't all have the same taste in anything. Why should weather be any different?

Topseyt123 · 16/06/2022 09:55

Stop the negativity! Enjoy the good weather while we have it.

Winter is just depressing for so many of us. Long, dark and cold nights, short and dingy days, usually shit weather. Don't wish our meagre summer away.

SirChenjins · 16/06/2022 09:56

Is this another thread where people in the SE wish autumn and winter (and all the cost, disruption and misery that brings) on the rest of us? FGS - you don't even get 3 months of blistering temperatures, you get a few very hot days, some hot ones and the rest are warm. Buy a fan, sit with a cold bottle, and it's still going to be cheaper for you then 6 months of heating homes. Or move north where you'll soon start to wish for some heat.

And some people like both. Fancy that!

Anxiernie · 16/06/2022 10:03

soon start to wish for some heat.

I don't think I would. I quite like the idea of living somewhere like Norway.

Stop the negativity! Enjoy the good weather while we have it.

You lot can't ever just let us have a thread without coming in and telling us to sto. As if we are forcing you to read the threads and forcing you to be sad :(. We are allowed to hate summer. It's "good weather" to a lot of people, but it's not our idea of it!

QuidditchThroughtheAges · 16/06/2022 10:04

@Blossomtoes yes because op is going to shut off the sun to begrudge you summer Hmm

Anxiernie · 16/06/2022 10:06

Yep. That's the point. We like and don't like different things! Nothing wrong with hating winter, nothing wrong with hating summer, nothing wrong with hating both and preferring spring and autumn, or liking both, or liking every season.

nevergoesaway · 16/06/2022 10:21

Love this thread! I also can’t stand warm/hot weather. It’s actually unbearable. I hate wearing less clothes because I hate my figure so it’s embarrassing going out in public. I much prefer Winter wardrobe. I hate being on public transport in the heat, and don’t drive so have no choice.

I hate that my existing health conditions get about 10x worse as the temperature rises. I hate flies and other insects everywhere. I hate the humidity levels which never seem to go down in the Uk. I also will deliberately not make any plans on hot days and avoid seeing people if possible.

I can’t concentrate on anything or be bothered to do anything, including housework , which isn’t good. I still do it but hate every minute and sweat non stop. Best temperature to me is 10-15 degrees.

Almost forgot the most important part- I hate that the UK has built most properties to keep the heat in, and that landlords are obligated to make sure tenants don’t get too cold, but if you’re sweltering in 35 degree heat indoors at midnight then you’re screwed unless you pay £££ on air con.

WDTABNONONO · 16/06/2022 10:30

I love hot weather but prefer the low 20s.

Winter makes me feel very low and triggers off my depression so I really struggle with it.

hate wearing less clothes because I hate my figure

You can still wear figure covering clothes in summer. Just wear loose trousers and loose cotton or linen tops instead of tight fitting clothes and jumpers.

Summer clothes don't have to be skimpy.

SirChenjins · 16/06/2022 11:51

Which particular parts of the UK have consistently high humidity levels? Shetland? Berwick on Tweed? Chorley? Belfast? Swansea?

This. I wear baggy dresses or loose trousers and tops or T-shirts. Much cooler than fitted clothes and exposed skin. Everything covered except mid calf and elbow down.

You’re right yes, and I do try to do that, it’s mostly my arms, I hate having them covered in summer as any material seems too hot. And then I have to subject others to my unpleasant form 😱
