I thought I would start a thread. It's muggy and I'm tired. I can't wait for the cool Autumn days and darker evenings 🤣

I'm not necessarily looking forward to winter and I love summer, but I think Friday is going to be too hot for me and I am in London all day. Also worried about my foster dog as she is already struggling with the heat (bulldog). But it looks shortlived and I do enjoy the sunshine so you are both reasonable and unreasonable Grin

NippyWoowoo · 15/06/2022 19:44

Woohoo! My people. I've been carrying my fan into work with me this week 🥵 DREADING Friday

DanielRicciardosSmile · 15/06/2022 19:45

Me too!

I'm a January baby and hate hot weather. I spend every Summer dreaming of moving to Greenland!

I would love to be a Summer lover, but I'm yearning for October and jumpers!

It's finally crept above 21 and already people are grumbling. I don't get it. It's warm enough at last to wear a linen top and skirt. To dump the sweaters and cardigans, to sit outside for an hour in the evening with a glass of wine.

It's warm enough to go running at 6am (my favourite time), warm enough to leave the window open all night.

It won't last long - maybe 4 months, and then we'll be back to the grim and grey. I intend to enjoy it. 😎

Good for you

The "real feel" temperature here is 115* F today. A couple of days next week, it's going to be 120s. We have A/C, but that means our bills never go down. I don't love it.

Where is this? Arizona?

dottypotter · 15/06/2022 19:51

Love it
It's cheaper to live think of the bills they will be do high in the winter.

These threads are abit pointless really as come Winter some ppl will be wanting it to be Summer.

Chipsahoy · 15/06/2022 19:52

Move to Scotland! North east here and it was cold enough for a fire first thing. The. We had brilliant warm sunshine of about 20c. Now it’s chilly we have a fire and cosy in blankets. We don’t even switch duvets as nights are cool. Bit drastic of a move I know but it would work!

RampantIvy · 15/06/2022 19:56

Fairislefandango · 15/06/2022 17:58

Only 21 degrees here. Perfect!

20 degrees here right now.

Our forecast is:

Thursday 24 degrees with sunny intervals Grin
Friday 28 degrees with sunny intervals Grin
Saturday 16 degrees and rain Sad
Sunday 15 degrees and cloud Sad

I get that living in a flat in London with no outside space when it is 30 degrees must be grim though. Although with the price of rising energy bills wishing for cold weather and long dark nights is rather tone deaf right now.

Tumbleweed101 · 15/06/2022 19:58

It's only hot this week then sticking around 20C where I am - which is perfect for summer while working. Hot is nice when you can chill out and relax. I love the long light evenings where I can get so much more done and be outside after work. Feels like there's more time to do things. Also the garden is lovely around now and still looks fresh.

I do love autumn but I usually start craving it at end of August when the plant life starts looking tired and dull.

I'm in Texas and it's like that here.
I freaking hate the humidity and heat.

devildeepbluesea · 15/06/2022 20:05

It’s not too hot. It’s mid-20s.

I bloody love the summer. I wish daily that I’d been born in Portugal.

I absolutely adore the light mornings and evenings. If you don’t like it, get an eye mask.

Im always gobsmacked at how many people on Mumsnet seem to want to exist on perpetual drizzle, 6 hours of daylight and sub10 degree temperatures. What a miserable thought.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 15/06/2022 20:06

As soon as the temperature becomes mildly warm the 'crisp autumn sky' and 'snuggling up with hot chocolate' threads start. It's comforting in its predictability!

Happierthanever91 · 15/06/2022 20:09

I am 100000% with you

We get three months of summer if we’re lucky. Please don’t begrudge those of us who enjoy it. Much as winter depresses me, I have to put up with it.

Exactly.

skybluee · 15/06/2022 20:12

At least we are not somewhere that's 50C. It's staggering how many places are hitting that relatively frequently now.

50?! Where?! Apart from Dubai...

FOJN · 15/06/2022 20:14

It's humidity rather than temperature which makes the warmer weather miserable for me. It's been 21 degrees here today, bright blue skies and sunshine, light breeze and 70% humidity. That's about as close to perfect as it can get for me and it's now down to 16 degrees so I should be able to sleep well.

I've just checked the forecast for Friday, it's supposed to be 26 degrees but the forecast humidity is 53%, I'm delighted, I live near water so the humidity almost never gets that low.

FrustareNT · 15/06/2022 20:14

I absolutely love the hot weather…as long as I am not at work!! The dog not so keen though!

Tyrozet · 15/06/2022 20:15

ApolloandDaphne · 15/06/2022 19:30

I was about to say this! Scotland is perfect for people who hate being too hot.

Speak for yourselves... we hit 19° in my part of Scotland today. It was unbearable.

I really dislike this time of year and look forward to dark nights and cooler temperatures.

ilovesooty · 15/06/2022 20:15

You can count on your fingers the days in this country that are warm and summery in the North of England. The weather is absolutely shit most of the time.

lap90 · 15/06/2022 20:16

It's not that hot IMO... so not at that level of craving cooler weather!

transformandriseup · 15/06/2022 20:17

Same. It's about 17 degrees down where I am and we are only just starting to get consecutive days of sunshine.

JoanWilderbeast · 15/06/2022 20:17

Well done for getting in the first, don't like a sweaty summer thread, of the season, 😎 lol.

Stravaig · 15/06/2022 20:18

❄️ I'm still hoping for last winter to arrive!!! 🌨❄️☃️🥶

I don't think it's the first one. The snuggle and cosy stuff starts earlier every year.
