Fuming at this guy in the supermarket

I was in the supermarket this evening and I went to pick up a bottle of fabric conditioner. It was from a good brand and very cheap on offer. A big bottle for a cheap price. It was also the last one of that particular fragrance on the shelf. As I reached out to take it from the shelf, I had almost got it when a guy came by the side of me and grabbed it. He then went over to a girl who I presume was his girlfriend and gave it to her. Presumably, she has asked him to get it for her. I was absolutely fuming. I picked my jaw up off the floor said 'You fucking cunt' and walked off.

AIBU for saying that?

if you were clearly reaching for it then YANBU for being angry because you were there first

I might well be, but I wouldn't call someone a cunt in the supermarket, no matter what had happened.

I wouldn’t have called him that word, it makes your behaviour as bad as his ( if he did it deliberately.)

He was a massive bellend for snatching it quickly when he could see you were reaching for it.

I wouldn't have called him a cunt but I would have said 'oi, I was just getting that.' Then I would have tried something different and shrugged it off, it's only fabric conditioner after all.

However I have seen supermarket rage over lesser items and it's not pretty.

I got the last rosemary ciabatta in Waitrose over someone once. She was standing there saying to her Dh “where’s the rosemary ciabatta I don’t see it”. So she wasn’t reaching for it. I pretended not to have heard her and got the last one.

Only if you were genuinely prepared to clearly say it to his face as well. If it had been me, I'd have asked you to repeat what you said to my face and wouldn't have backed off with my tail between my legs either.

I probably would have done the same but the language would probably have been under my breath. I'm a bit passive agressive rather than agressive.

Knowing someone who recently got stabbed for looking at someone, I would not be calling anyone a cunt over fabric softener.

Tbh, I probably would have said similar. But, then, I have anger issues and have disproportionate responses to fairly inconsequential incidents.

Sometimes it doesn't even register with people that somebody else is reaching for things
Honestly I was at the launderette last week ( my machine has packed in) I was sat watching my washing actually being washed and a women came in and tried to open the machine mid wash!She wasn't being malicious just absent minded
