To not understand why the Duke and Duchess of Suffolk only came over for 4 days?

UndertheCedartree · 10/06/2022 12:37

I just find this really odd. To fly all that way then only stay 4 days? Surely they had other family to visit, could have made a bit of a holiday of it. I can&t imagine 2 long flights with toddlers that close together - it would be exhausting!

They think they are embarrassing Harry and Meghan but instead they are shaming the Royal Family.

This is a very good point. If K&W actually did prevent the children from meeting, that's damning to them, not H&M.

Exactly but these fools do not stop to consider how these stupid lies make the Royal Family and Kate and William look. It makes them look like they have a massive problem and that they are the problem.

Today, I was speaking to friends from abroad and they were saying that the Queen is stuck in old racist Britain where mixed race members of high society were hidden and paintings with them were refused. I had to impress upon them that this is British Media made up stuff. It’s a source said this or a royal expert thinks that. There is no truth to these stupid suppositions.

The other damaging things the media is doing to William and Kate is implying that they have shared and leaking these going ons with the British Media. Again proving that Meghan and Harry were right. How else are all these sources getting these intimate info about what the Queen said and thought, what William and Kate did, thought, and said? Too many leaks from them.

There is a saying that the pit you dig for someone you will fall into in yourself.

I believe it’s the 1917 letters patent of George V which prevents Archie from being a prince right now@Why2why , rather than “the British Media” or any living member of the royal family. Best check facts before spouting.

True and when Charles becomes king he can be a Prince and his sister a Princess if they choose right? Not that they want that they have made it clear a few times who can blame them

sunglassesonthetable · 10/06/2022 16:40

Probably because they were accused of attention seeking when they stayed indoors at the Trooping of the Colour

It's Ok I'm getting the rush back ....
You couldn't make this shit up .

Flipflopblowout · 10/06/2022 16:42

They were sat the the back with the cousins at the service and it wouldn't have made good tv being seen to have people shouting boo when they left.

antelopevalley · 10/06/2022 16:42

@Isaidnoalready Harry and Meghan said they wanted their children to have the option to use titles. So they have said no to titles for the children. I do not think the children will be given titles though.

greatblueheron · 10/06/2022 16:45

They flounced.

They were deprived of photo ops they wanted/needed to 'sell' to the American public.

They were deprived of being at any of the main events on centre stage.

They were actively booed at the one event they did go to.

They were not happy with their lack of status.

So they flounced.

In a private jet while they pretend to be environmentally friendly.

Why2why · 10/06/2022 16:51

The OW interview was brilliant and very much needed.

To be more angry about Meghan speaking about her experience than the experience she said she had is shocking. What is worse? Talking about the racism she faced or the racism itself?

Racism and the experience or victims of racism should never be hidden simply to spare the blushes of those who rather believe that we live in a fairy tale world.

I do not think there were many people of colour who were surprised that racism was alive and well in that institution.

It was absolutely right that Meghan stood up for herself and told the world about the ugly side of being a mixed race woman in that institution. Why should she have hidden it? Can someone give a good reason why? To hide the shame of those who treated her so appallingly? Her life matters and their blushes are not more important than her life and eel-being.

Why2why · 10/06/2022 16:52

Well-being.

The victim has no obligation to protect the victimisers.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/06/2022 16:57

They flounced They went home. *

They were deprived of photo ops they wanted/needed to 'sell' to the American public. They didn't do any photo ops.

They were deprived of being at any of the main events on centre stage. As expected they stayed out of the limelight.

They were actively booed at the one event they did go to. That was Boris

They were not happy with their lack of status. Hmmm, mind reader are you champ?

So they flounced. Then they went home.

In a private jet while they pretend to be environmentally friendly.* Agree.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/06/2022 16:58

But @greatblueheron I agree your 'version' is more exciting.

Going home isn't really flouncing though. How long would it have had to have been for it to not be "flouncing" in your eyes?

AgentJohnson · 10/06/2022 17:02

Op you have too much time on your hands, if this is occupying your thoughts.

Why2why · 10/06/2022 17:03

Can someone explain why Britain should be proud of people booing Harry and Meghan? All credible sources say they were cheered and undoctored video also show they were cheered.

However, people were angry when William was booed to high heavens. Those who were booed were called uncouth.

By spreading this lie of Britain booing Harry and Meghan only serve to show that they were right to leave and the UK is filled with peasants.

The world routes for the underdog. For the abused. This is only making a really good story for Harry & Meghan. They are going against the odds. Fighters, brave, etc. Fantastic narrative for them.

It's part of the professional hobby of hating.

I can get disagreeing with M&H, but there's another level of embellishments and frothing that goes on here.

Notonthestairs · 10/06/2022 17:08

M&H would have been advised well in advance as to what arrangements were. Nothing would have been left to chance. No surprises - or do you think the Palace are inept?

But really M&H left so many MNers wanting more - more drama, more intrigue, more faux knowledge of what the rest of the Royal family believe.

I think a certain proportion of MN would love nothing more than for M&H to give more interviews - they need fresh blood.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/06/2022 17:09

They've been a bit bloody boring tbh.

Wartywart · 10/06/2022 17:20

I think they didn't particularly want to come but in order to stay on the right side of the Queen - I've said this before - to make sure she stipulstes that they keep Frogmore etc once Charles becomes King, they came as requested/invited by her, but stayed for the minimum time possible. Meghan chose to wear Dior in order that no-one could outdo her in the price-of-outfit stakes. And I think she would rather wear a paper bag than wear a British designer these days!

TwinklyBranch · 10/06/2022 17:23

They probably didn't want to use up too much annual leave, they're saving it for a summer holiday. Grin

RepublicOfNarnia · 10/06/2022 17:29

There's a very particular type of demographic who absolutely despise Meghan. They actually spit bile when she comes up. Not a week goes by without another faux 'Oh I wonder xyz about the Sussexes' thread because Mumsnet is made up of this type of demographic. I find it fascinating and grotesque in equal measure.

HappypusSadpus · 10/06/2022 17:30

3amAndImStillAwake · 10/06/2022 12:46

No evidence they came over with their children

Really? You think they lied about their daughter meeting the queen, and lied about the Frogmore birthday party and where the pictures were taken? That would be a little risky, it relies on no disgruntled family members saying "actually, there was no party and the queen never met Lilibet".

It would be quite insane of them.

I find it more odd the only other photos published were of the photographers family. Not one with her brother or her 1st cousins? Probably I imagine because not many people, if any others, went to the 'party' at all.

Vapeyvapevape · 10/06/2022 17:32

How do people know all this ?

Port1aCastis · 10/06/2022 17:32

I find the spewing bile and vitriol very odd because how can folks hate someone they've never even spoken to.

lemmein · 10/06/2022 17:33

Whenever H&M are mentioned there's a significant number of Mumsnetter's who are incapable of independent thought - it's fascinating.

You don't know these people - every tiny bit of info you think you know has been carefully curated to portray whatever narrative they want you to believe, whether that's palace sources, media loud-mouths, or even H&M themselves - it's all pretend, just a story. The bizarre thing is, everyone who repeats these stories knows that - yet will still repeat it as fact.

We are encouraged to participate in hating this woman, for what? Why are people so willing to swallow the Madonna-Whore, Saint-Sinner shit the (mainly male) commentators want you to believe? BADDDDD Meghan, SAINTLY Kate 🙄 They're probably both decent people who are occasionally arseholes, like the rest of us.

Who cares why they left after 4 days, like seriously, why do you care? This is Mumsnet, surely it's not that difficult to understand why spending longer than 4 days with the in-laws is challenging?

It's all very depressing - I don't particularly care if people hate Meghan (I'm sure she doesn't either!) but the narrative constantly repeated on here from the Daily Mail makes me sad that we will probably have a Tory government for the rest of my life. People believe what the media tell them to, that is depressing.

Two white-supremacist podcasters said Prince Harry should be “judicially killed for treason” for marrying Meghan Markle and called their son, 3-year-old Archie, “an abomination that should be put down,” a British court has heard.

This is a current case in a British court

Why the heck did Meghan roll down the car window knowing there are nutters like this? It makes their argument about not being able to visit due to security issues look ridiculous.
