To not understand why the Duke and Duchess of Suffolk only came over for 4 days?

I just find this really odd. To fly all that way then only stay 4 days? Surely they had other family to visit, could have made a bit of a holiday of it. I can&t imagine 2 long flights with toddlers that close together - it would be exhausting!

The UK is hardly their 'happy place'. Read through this thread and you get the picture.

It's like Christmas with the family. They showed up. Did the obligatories. Visited with Gran and left.

Happens every year all over the Christmas celebrating world. Think on your own families folks.

I'm not a Royalist but I wish these actual humans some happiness.

And some bods on here need a hobby that isn't hating.

I’m a Republican so off with all of their heads etc. The monarchy, the media and the mob ran the couple out of the country and you’re surprised they’re not keen to return?

In MN terms: this country and its monarchy are the toxic family they’ve gone no contact with.

I think that their seating position in St. Pauls was a deliberate snub to them. In the past they would have been with Kate & Wills, as part of the close family group, not seated with the York girls.

It must have made their new situation in the Royal hierarchy shockingly clear to them. This probably made them rapidly reassess their plans, and then leave on the Sunday morning.

While they were attending events with Charles present, their security level would have been the same as his, so I don't think their departure was directly linked to security problems.

Obviously they must have been disappointed not to be allowed to photograph their daughter meeting Her Maj, as they need this type of Royal interaction in order to keep their own Royal brand financially buoyant.
It seems Charles & Camilla didn't attend the birthday party for the one year old, so another photo opportunity missed!

They are caught in a trap of needing Royal verification in order to finance their lifestyle, yet apparently yearning for privacy.

The British Media will destroy the reputation of the Royal Family worldwide.

I don’t believe The Source who disparaged the Queen by saying she refused to have a photo with her grandchild and that William and Kate refused to allow their kids to meet their cousins.

It is disgraceful that the British Media insists on painting the Royal Family as a bunch of racists who will punish innocent kids for having a drop of black blood. That they will shun them and not even consider being seen with them.

How does the British Media think the world will interpret the Queen refusing to have a photo with one of her grandchild or grandkids who happen to be the only ones with a mixed race background. What could possibly be the Queen’s reasons when she has taken photos and publicised with her other grandkids? The world will simply conclude that she does not want to be associated with her mixed race grandchild.

Already they prevented Archie from being titled a prince.

I am no fan of the Royal Family but this nonsense lies from a source is very damaging. They think they are embarrassing Harry and Meghan but instead they are shaming the Royal Family.

These sources always sprout nonsense and lies. They lack the capacity to think logically and in the process only serve to show that Meghan told the truth in the Oprah interview.

Maybe I should believe this source and spread it far and wide as the truth of the Royal Family’s racism. More reason to get rid of the Queen as head of state and shun and protest against these people when they visit Commonwealth countries.

Probably because they were accused of attention seeking when they stayed indoors at the Trooping of the Colour and did their absolute best to keep away from cameras. When they attended St Pauls and went in front of the cameras they were accused of courting publicity. They kept their children away from the cameras because that was one of the reasons they went to the USA, and got criticised for then releasing a birthday pic of Lilibet, which all the family do. They're getting criticised for coming, but there'd have been calls for their heads if they didn't. They can't do anything right, can they? I'd be on the first plane out too.

This is a very good point. If K&W actually did prevent the children from meeting, that's damning to them, not H&M.

From what I just read, there were concerns they had hidden mics to record interactions with the RF for their alleged Netflix reality show. Apparently why no senior royal wanted to be around them.

If true, that is shocking and a real low, even for them. Although unsurprising.

If anyone in that silly family genuinely thinks that ignoring their own relatives on the world stage looks anything other than petty and petulant, they need a word.

they came (In admittedly obnoxious private jet fashion), we’re quiet and unobtrusive. Did not see the family whose prior public engagements were arranged probably a year ahead of their decision to come - all sides would have been well aware. He made what was possibly a final visit to an aged grandparent, showed her his kids and left quietly again.
nobody at fault on either side in any of that, save for the private plane. No story.
(perhaps they rushed back to introduce the kids to their aged an ailing grandfather?)

I do agree with this but at the same time I think the OW interview was a disastrous decision and curtailed any chance they had being taken seriously. If they'd just kept their heads down and then gradually started quietly appearing and contributing to the causes they support I think it would all have gone very differently and they'd have actually got the lives and careers they seem to want. I've said this before but I think they also likely felt obligated to OW given all the "support" she arranged for them - eg Tyler Perry's mansion and security etc and I don't for a moment think she had their best interests at heart or was trying to Give Them A Voice.
