To not understand why the Duke and Duchess of Suffolk only came over for 4 days?

I just find this really odd. To fly all that way then only stay 4 days? Surely they had other family to visit, could have made a bit of a holiday of it. I can&t imagine 2 long flights with toddlers that close together - it would be exhausting!

Did you see when the Cambridge’s came into their view at the church, Meghan turned her head the opposite direction, Harry looked desperate to see his family.

Port1aCastis · 10/06/2022 13:33

Why do people believe media bullshit

SabrePrattler · 10/06/2022 13:34

Burgoo · 10/06/2022 13:21

I suspect it didn't go quite as they had hoped and Harry may have found himself realising he has thrown away the connection w the wider family.
Being booed probably made them realise how much they have F'd up.

Did they get booed? From the clip I saw I only heard cheers.

It’s been widely reported that various royal cousins have been to California to spend time with the Sussexes and they’ve met in other US locations, not to mention the multiple times they could have met under the radar.

I didn’t know that, but I was about to post, “maybe their U.K. friends prefer to go to sunny Cali than sunny Hunny” 😏

Scotswood292 · 10/06/2022 13:35

SabrePrattler I was watching on the BBC and only heard cheering but if you look at clips recored by the crowd they were heavily booed.

Lovemypeaceandquiet · 10/06/2022 13:35

Why on earth do you care what a couple
of celebrities/royals does with their time and money?

ChairPose9to5 · 10/06/2022 13:36

They had to come to show their respect but it was clearly torture for them.

Ah okay.

BlueKaftan · 10/06/2022 13:36

I’m shocked by how many on MN are also voracious tabloid readers.

NOTANUM · 10/06/2022 13:37

Their Jubilee visit was to mark their card as insiders so that when the inevitable funeral and subsequent coronation happens, they can attend without any messy “Lillibet never met the Queen/future King” bad feeling that could prove to be their undoing.
Without that insider access, their cachet in the US dries up.

thebellagio · 10/06/2022 13:37

I should imagine it's also due to their court case against the home office. If they are saying they don't feel safe over here, then they can hardly hang around can they? That's why they could only be at places where the senior royals were, to get the private protection that they think they need.

Lovemypeaceandquiet · 10/06/2022 13:38

Besides, they’re dammed if the do dammed if they don’t. As apparently the general public wants to have a say as to how long they should stay in UK.

TheVanguardSix · 10/06/2022 13:38

How do you keep 'em down on the farm once they've seen Montecito?

stepuporshutup · 10/06/2022 13:38

The royal family are well aware that H,&M cannot be trusted not to repeat any conversation that were had and use it for another money making scheme.

They probably were wired the whole time they were here

Meghan kept playing with her collar during the service maybe there was a hidden camera and mike concealed

I didn’t see that. But even without seeing it, I daresay you’ve just been easily manipulated by the media. Probably one second after whatever photo you’ve seen, she simply turned her head and was smiling at the incoming Cambridge.

It’s like all the “sour faced” photos. Take sports mode 1000 photos of me in 5 minute in any situation, and you’ll find one to sell your made up story.

I have a great photo of my adult stepdaughter at my wedding, sat near us during the ceremony. She looks utterly fucked off and you could write a fabulous “I hate my new stepmother” line. It’s not representative.

Surely only stupid people believe this crap?

Lovemypeaceandquiet · 10/06/2022 13:39

Some British people are way to
invested in their lives, I’d I was them I’d also get the hell out of here as soon as possible. Hardly anyone cares in USA

JuliaDomna · 10/06/2022 13:43

Maybe they had commitments this week? Who knows it is their business. I am a republican but to be honest some of the vitriol written about individual members of the royal family is awful, even four year old children and babies. Don't get me started on the tabloids and their so called experts.

While the operation of the monarchy is tax payer funded, it doesn't give the right to know every detail of their lives.

SueSaid · 10/06/2022 13:43

You mustn't question his contrary look at us!/DON'T LOOK AT US! behaviour, to do so means your are a 'hater' silly.

But yes, you'd think after he'd paid all that money for a private jet they'd have made a bit of trip of it and made time to see his family. Dinner with df and db? Harry could try a bit of #compassion and #kindness.

Perhaps they had a Netflix deadline?

WimbyAce · 10/06/2022 13:43

It was only a token visit really in what is probably their final meeting with the Queen. I don't think anyone particularly wanted them there and I doubt they were too keen either.

antelopevalley · 10/06/2022 13:44

The clips of the crowd booing were them booing Boris and Carrie Johnson.

Port1aCastis · 10/06/2022 13:44

Agree with Testina the media manipulation to divert attention from other members of the royal family is a bit of a disgrace really and if I was the target of all that nastiness and bitching I would also be calling in the lawyers

Joystir59 · 10/06/2022 13:45

SadLittleLife · 10/06/2022 12:41

They weren't exactly flying Ryanair were they? I'm sure a flight on a private jet with lots of paid help is less stressful than a package holiday.
The trip was a gesture, sign of respect to the Queen.
Don't think any "other family" would have been particularly keen to see them after their revelations.
Presumably due to their "security concerns", they wanted to keep it brief.

😁

Why so spiteful?

Yes, I believe that question is exactly what Harry's father, Megan's father and Harry's brother asked them!

Answer came there none though

antelopevalley · 10/06/2022 13:47

Meghan and Harry actually got a big cheer.
And if they had been booed the Daily Mail would have had it as a front-page headline.

Cheshiresun · 10/06/2022 13:52

Because they knew they would get criticised if they didn't attend at all, so yes it was a short visit but, in my opinion, I think that would have been hard enough for them. I can imagine the arguments between the two of them about having to go and Meghan especially not wanting to.
