Dad in women's loo .

1000 replies

HappyDays40 · 04/06/2022 14:02

I have been to the loo in Mc Donald's and was mid flow when a dad walks in with his daughters aged about 4 and 6.He stands waiting while his daughters are using the toilet. I came out and said you are not supposed to be in here.
He said he had to take his daughters to the loo and I told him that he needed to either wait outside or take them the mens. He said they don't need to see that and I told him that he shouldn't be hanging round in women's toilets for any reason. His sense of entitlement gave me the rage so I told a member of staff. I can only imagine how triggering that could be for some women. Intrusive fucker.

Men should not be in the women's toilet.
The girls should have gone alone, or into the men's.
There are various women who would be totally intimidated by it, and they shouldn't feel threatened in what should be a female only space.

Erm no. Children aged 4 & 6 are too young to be in public toilets on their own. He made the best decision. If it was my husband and there was no accessible toilet I’d expect him to use the ladies for my 5yo. I’d be raging if I learned he’d sent her into the ladies toilets on her own and more so if he’s took her in to the mens

Not really what this is about though is it.

How so? He was a man in the women's toilets, I was in a woman in the men's toilets.

Quincythequince · 04/06/2022 14:52

Technonan
Total non-issue. I am very protective of women's spaces, but a man in charge of two such young children (4 especially) needs to go in with them

You are clearly not protective at all, because you are allowing for exceptions when there should be none.

Other women use them too - and their opinion matters.

Don’t kid yourself you give a crap about women’s rights.

Soapboxqueen · 04/06/2022 14:49

No. It's for him to have a go at mcdonald's for not having a service he prefers.

Not to invade a single sex space because he wants to.

It wasn’t because he “wants to” it was because he had two girls that needed the toilet. And as for complaining, maybe he did that too. But it’s not like they can build a family loo before his daughters piss themselves. He had to care for his children now. A 4 or 6yr old needing the toilet is a time sensitive issue. They usually cannot hold it at that age.

I'm surprised people are ok with this. Women's toilets are for women. There is no place for a man in them. Oh the entitled 'what is he supposed to do with his DDs?' - not remotely any woman's problem.

Personally I use the disabled toilet so it wouldn't affect me, but there are so many women out there who would be upset by this.

Misogyny innit?

Men do what the fuck they want. If a woman complains, other women jump on her to defend the man.

Same as it ever was.

JustTheOneSwan · 04/06/2022 14:48

Use the mens.

Nope. I don't agree that little girls should have to walk past grown men using urinals just so they can go to the toilet in public.

Ideally everywhere should provide fully enclosed rooms/cubicles with sinks and bins, so that families can go in together.

You should have asked someone to retrieve him but you obviously feel entitled.

You ran in to retrieve a run away child, not engage with making use of the facilities.

If my kid ran into somewhere they shouldn’t be, most parents would go and fetch them.

It’s a stupid comparison

This is exactly why I hate unisex toilets. Wiping the urine up, trying not to get my trousers wet.

Lesserspottedmama · 04/06/2022 14:54

I hear what you are saying OP and it’s a shame there are not family toilets as standard - but I think the dad was right, he’s just trying to protect his little girls.

dottiedodah · 04/06/2022 14:55

I dont feel its suitable for little girls to go into the mens toilets ,even with Dad.He was within his rights here .

Hadalifeonce · 04/06/2022 14:55

This man was just a man looking after his daughters, if he was not challenged about being in the females' toilets, there would be no valid challenge to the next man, whose objectives might not be so benign.
This is why big companies sue even the tiniest company which uses either their name/brand or something similar, as if there is the slightest chink, the precedent has been set.
So he might be being fatherly but he shouldn't be in female toilets.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 04/06/2022 14:56

I don't see the issue. He'd looking after his daughters. Men's toilets are grim usually so not ideal for little ones using the cubicle.

Quite!

You can’t see dicks when men are at urinals anyway, so Christ knows what people are in about!

You walk up to it, unzip, piss, zip up and walk out (without washing hands)

🤢

They have urinals on the streets in Paris.

Should children not walk around Paris then?

RosieRooster83 · 04/06/2022 14:56

@JustTheOneSwan If my daughter ran into the mens toilets, no way am I waiting to ask someone to get her. I'd be right in there after her to make sure she is safe. My child would come first.

And he could have taken them into the men's. Where he is supposed to be.

Why do you think the other women and girls in the toilet matter so little that they cannot have this protected single sex space because he prefers not needs, prefers not to use the space provided for him?

Soontobe60 · 04/06/2022 14:57

ChiselandBits · 04/06/2022 14:09

at 4 and 6 they are a bit young to go in alone and given the mens' will have open urinals I can see his dilemma. Its a Macdonald's loo not a changing room - can adult women really not cope with a man who is obviously in charge of young girls and cares about their welfare being in there for a few minutes? Ideally there would be a family room or accessible loo but if he'd used that he no doubt would also be in the wrong.

What if there had just been young girls in there?
in his situation he should ask a member of staff to check the mens toilets were empty whilst he took them in there.

Quincythequince · 04/06/2022 14:57

Alwayswonderedwhy · 04/06/2022 14:56

I don't see the issue. He'd looking after his daughters. Men's toilets are grim usually so not ideal for little ones using the cubicle.

The issue is he is breaking the law.

Women’s toilets are legally protected single sex spaces.

He is not allowed in there.

Lesserspottedmama · 04/06/2022 14:57

That being said, my DH takes our 6yo daughter into the men’s when he is out with her, of course it’s not a brilliant environment and not ideal but I know he wouldn’t go into the women’s toilets unless there was no other alternative.

LongLiveLiz · 04/06/2022 14:58

Everyone uses a cubicle, he was there with his two young daughters, if there’s urinals in the mens I can understand why he took them into the ladies loos. Rather than have a go you could have been a bit more understanding and offered to help him out by keeping an eye on his daughters while he waited outside. If you’d seen him take his daughters into the gents you probably would’ve shared a post about how you saw a man took two young girls into the mens toilets.

TheVanguardSix · 04/06/2022 14:58

Sorry OP. I just can't support you on this one.
Parents need to look after their kids in public loos.
I had a similar situation happen the other day and it just didn't bother me in the least having a dad in there looking after his daughter.

Men’s issues are women’s problem to solve 🙄

SatinHeart · 04/06/2022 14:58

My dad used to take me to the men's if we were out and my mum wasn't with us. I don't remember ever seeing a penis tbh.

What about the rights of very young girls to be able to safely access a toilet in a restaurant? Isnt that a little bit more important than a woman’s comfort level while sitting in a nice safe private cubicle?
