Teacher ripped pages out of dd’s book and then was overheard talking about her

Dd (10) has been in tears since she came home today. They were doing a written piece of work and the teacher was wound up by a misbehaving child. Dd had crossed out a couple of words in her writing (neatly, using a ruler she said) but the teacher was angry that there was a crossing out in her work and ripped the page out in front of the whole class, threw it away and told her to do it again.

Shortly after dd had to get changed for PE and from the changing room overheard the teacher saying to the TA that dd had come up with ‘rubbish ideas’ in her work. Dd was crushed!

Im thinking of emailing the head to complain.

I don't care what you think, you don't call people names because they don't agree with your opinions. Nobody owns the Internet.

"Rubbish ideas"? Sorry, OP, but that sounds like something a child, not an adult, would say. Are you absolutely certain your DD is telling the truth? I'm a former teacher, and if I had a pound for every time a parent of a fibbing child believed that their child would never lie to them, I'd be a millionaire.

Why are so many desperate to jump to the defence of the teacher here??

I've worked in schools as a TA for the past 10 years and I've seen plenty of teachers who would do this. Those who, when in a bad mood, or wound up by another student, would take it out in the kids.

It happens. Not all teachers are dicks, but many can be. And it's very concerning how many posters here are telling a mum to assume her child is lying. Very dangerous behaviour to get into.

I am a teacher , I have an (internal) saying. ... I don't believe anything that they tell me their parents have done ..and visa versa. The versions of events are usually not as described

Excluding safeguarding concerns obviously

Jesus Christ.

"Excluding safe guarding issues of course"

Well, why would a child inform you of a potential safe guarding issue if they have never been believed or listened to?

The trust needs to be there.

Shocking attitude.

I wonder why you'd go to th head before asking the teacher ? You do get horrible teachers but Saying a child had 'rubbish ideas' in their writing really doesn't sound like something a teacher or any adult would say ...
