To be conflicted over DH's hair

DH has always been a bit shit at getting his hair cut and will happily go 6 months between cuts. This has never bothered me but lockdown saw him go over 2 years without a cut so he ended up with shoulder-length hair tied up in a scruffy man-bun.

Finally I'd had enough of it so I made him an appointment with my hairdresser, Jo. I told her that he wanted to keep some of the length but I wanted it too short to tie in a bun. Apart from that she could use her imagination.

She gave him a Bob! A full on, stacked A-line bob with a high crown, side-swept fringe and points that curled under his chin. It would look really cute on a woman but on a man? Anyway, he likes it, Jo explained that she followed the brief (a bit of a stretch IMO) and DD styles it for him to keep it at max bouncy cuteness.

He even went back to Jo last week to get it cut again as she had told him that it needs to be cut every 6 weeks to keep its shape.

So I'm conflicted. On one hand, it's his hair, he, DD and friends who have commented seem to like it and I have to accept that it's neat and tidy and does sort of suit him. On the other hand, it's a bloody bob!

Oh my God, I’m dying. This thread.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

My contribution is this bad boy - not because it’s a man bob, but just because it’s the ‘do that came to mind on seeing many of the photographic contributions thus far.

The sequel
My husband has left me as I chop up and liquidise his dinner, lay out his clothes each morning and order his clothes to match mine from Boden

My husband hasn't had his hair cut for 10 years, he can sit on it.

I'm struggling to understand why your DH accepted YOU giving instructions to his hairdresser. Would you let him do that for you? It's insanely controlling.
Having said that my DH made it fairly obvious he hated a recent hair change I had and his clear dislike did contribute to me deciding to switch again after about 9 months. So maybe just make a lot of fairly obvious jokes about it

I generally take the view that there is no point posting on a thread if you don't trust that the OP is telling the truth... but I can't resist... this thread cannot be serious can it?

I don't think it matters these days, men can have fab hair too any style. My ex husband had Shirley Temple bum length curly blond hair. Everyone loved it - me....I was pissed off he had better hair than me 😂

😂😂😂😂😂😂 I think this line from the OP, which I originally overlooked, has just convinced me this has to be a joke.

This puts me in mind of a thread a few months back of an op, whose dh had done the same except it was wispy, greying and full of split ends. Small mercies op. But I wouldn’t like a man bob either. Something more cutting edge and funky, yes. Perhaps you could scan the Internet for inspiration for his next big cut? Perhaps treat him to a Toni and Guy style for his birthday? They like to graduate everything there…

Be careful what you wish for, OP. You probably shouldn’t have tried to control what he does with his own hair by ‘briefing’ the hairdresser.

Sorry I didn't express myself very well. DH wanted to get his hair cut but wanted to keep some of the length and didn't know how to describe how he wanted it done. We discussed what he did and didn't want but it was still very fuzzy. He jumped at my suggestion that he went to Jo and the brief was pretty much his words.

Really?

Finally I'd had enough of it so I made him an appointment
but I wanted it too short to tie in a bun.

Man bob? Surely you'd have to be under 25 and gay to carry off that bouncy cuteness?? The mistake you made was taking him to a women's hairdresser! Bet you're wishing he'd stuck with the man bun now!
