To be conflicted over DH's hair

DH has always been a bit shit at getting his hair cut and will happily go 6 months between cuts. This has never bothered me but lockdown saw him go over 2 years without a cut so he ended up with shoulder-length hair tied up in a scruffy man-bun.

Finally I'd had enough of it so I made him an appointment with my hairdresser, Jo. I told her that he wanted to keep some of the length but I wanted it too short to tie in a bun. Apart from that she could use her imagination.

She gave him a Bob! A full on, stacked A-line bob with a high crown, side-swept fringe and points that curled under his chin. It would look really cute on a woman but on a man? Anyway, he likes it, Jo explained that she followed the brief (a bit of a stretch IMO) and DD styles it for him to keep it at max bouncy cuteness.

He even went back to Jo last week to get it cut again as she had told him that it needs to be cut every 6 weeks to keep its shape.

So I'm conflicted. On one hand, it's his hair, he, DD and friends who have commented seem to like it and I have to accept that it's neat and tidy and does sort of suit him. On the other hand, it's a bloody bob!

Got to love a man with a pony or a man bun. My husband cut his long hair off for a change. I miss it and so does he, he is growing it back.

I'm sorry...I'm just kinda aghast, along with so many others, that you gave the hairdresser instructions on how to cut a grown man's hair. If you were his drill sergeant (or the British equivalent to that), I could understand it. And I would be every bit as aghast if he had told her how to cut YOUR hair, just for the record.

Erm... It's his body. No more to be said.

I realised by the end it was about your husband and not your son. Who are you, his mummy?

Flossatops · 24/05/2022 13:34

It may be his hair but you have to look at it! Mind you, you don't paint a pretty picture; it sounds truly awful.

Please please post a pic. Can't really comment on if it suits him unless we can really see it.
