Part 3 AIBU to wonder why so many people assume Johnny Depp is the good guy and Amber Heard is the villain

Following on from parts 1 and 2
Trial has gone 'dark' this week as the Judge is at a conference so it's going to be quiet on that front and I expect this thread will run slower than the previous two, however, there is still plenty of material and evidence from the last three weeks that we can 'cross examine'.

Any and all opinions welcome.

Wait, Amber said today that she left him because she feared for her life. But Laura Wasser testified that Depp left Heard and they were in the middle of preparing divorce proceedings when Heard and her lawyer took them by surprise by filing first. Something does not add up.

StormzyinaTCup · 16/05/2022 19:17

Well that’s a development!
AH has just mentioned her legal costs for this case and that is a complete no no.
Frantic activity at the bar and it may mean Camille can’t do her cross examination.

Not sure what happens next but can’t wait find out.

They said it's in limine ? I think that means it subject to a request ?

ENoeuf · 16/05/2022 19:31

Much as she's changed I suspect he's been told the smirking isn't going down well as he's been really calm and solemn

Boulshired · 16/05/2022 19:50

Amber definitely needs some witnesses to back what she saying or she needs to disclose this mountain of evidence. The jury needs to see what she’s talking about. The reputation damage would be better from a third party. For me, she is still doing better though.

I’d be interested to know how you think she is more credible.

I’ve struggled to believe a word she’s said after she tries to pass off her assistant’s rape story as her own at the U.K. trial. I believe this was her original version of the assault in Australia, which she then change when Kate James called her out for it during her testimony in the High Court. Which is why those particular accusations weren’t included in that trial. That fact alone makes me not trust a word she says.

ENoeuf · 16/05/2022 20:02

I don't really understand the Kate James Amber stole my story thing. Wasn't Kate asked if she'd seen Ambers statements and said no, which meant she couldn't have known about the alleged rape as it was heard privately? Also , how does Kate know she 'stole' it rather than being a victim?

Boulshired · 16/05/2022 20:05

@Legrandsophie no, I think she doing better than before the break but that was a pretty low bar for me. That’s why she needs some witnesses. Hope that makes better sense

ENoeuf · 16/05/2022 20:07

What is going on in the glare et? That's twice the judge has had to speak out

when's the cross?

Aspiringmatriarch · 16/05/2022 20:11

I believe Kate James objected to Amber using her terminology of being a survivor not a victim. Seems bizarre to me but that's the only explanation I've been able to find since she couldn't have known what Amber had said about her rape (and admitted she hadn't seen it).

Miscfeminista · 16/05/2022 20:15

I am apalled with JDs lawyers sitting at the back. They are acting like privileged mean high school girls-I literally just saw them sigh and ROLL EYES at her testimony of how she felt having stuff in media chewed on repeatedly or whatever. Even one lawyer commented there's way too much objections from his team. It just looks pathetic from their side especially since they let JD ramble on pointlessley. I cannot stand him or his lawyers.

From an optics point of view it's interesting he's chosen young and or attractive women where they are not already connected to him. Old 'characters' for men friends and young attractive women - legal team back up and the psychologist. Probably nothing but it was something I noticed.

Ok because no one has ever said that before. KJ came over so bitter I discounted her.

Legrandsophie · 16/05/2022 20:24

According to this Guardian article Kate James had read Amber’s submissions to UK court and had recognised aspects of her own story that she says Heard reworked into accusations against Depp.

I've been watching online. I don't know who's lying, but I am feeling very uncomfortable with how legal people are talking about her. They're beginning to sound like playground bullies.

But that is how it works, there will be objections if the opposing lawyer doesn't frame the question correctly or is trying to sneak something in. It's more a reflection of her lawyers as most of his teams objections were sustained.

Wow! I see you have come up with a way to defend the indefensible.

At this point she has admitted to hitting him, stolen charity money and been caught lying quite a few times (never mind that many of her witness list have refused to testify on her behalf). Is there anything that she could do that you wouldn’t defend?

fairytwinkletastic · 16/05/2022 20:29

I agree.

ENoeuf · 16/05/2022 20:29

@Miscfeminista you were cut off! Do you agree or disagree with me 😂

ENoeuf · 16/05/2022 20:31

@Legrandsophie I read that article when I was trying to find some more detail - it doesn't say anything more than KJ was horrified AH had used her story.

I am definitely not an legal expert but sometimes it seems irrelevant if the questions are not framed exactly to the t because in A LOT of instances AH lawyer does just that, asks same question in different way or has to waste time dissecting it into few ones, sometimes it seems like they are just trying to interrupt as much as they can to waste their time

Boulshired · 16/05/2022 20:32

Not sure how Ambers team came up with the 100 million, the figures they were quoting as her earnings were nowhere near a loss of 100 million defamation case. Unless they plan on having an expert witness to do them sort of sums.
