To choose an Irish name for their dog... in light of Britain's history with Ireland.

YABU- get over it, it's a dog
YANBU- it is tone deaf

They wouldn’t be able to called their dog anything if what you say was a rule!

Hucklead · 02/05/2022 18:38

YABU. My dog is called Paddy.

SnowRoses · 02/05/2022 18:39

Christ 🙈

Hollowgast · 02/05/2022 18:39

You are being ridiculous.

MyJobisNotOuting · 02/05/2022 18:39

Well Kate used to love orla Kiely clothes (and got them at a very reduced price) so maybe a god memory of a grave train lifestyle

TheYearOfSmallThings · 02/05/2022 18:40

You are being ridiculous.

Seconded.

Abraxan · 02/05/2022 18:40

It's just a name.

They might not have even named it, might have come with the name when they received it as a gift. Or one of the children might have named it after a friend/character etc.

I'm not Irish so maybe there is some unwritten rule, but I really can't see the problem at all.

Iwasfeelingepic · 02/05/2022 18:41

Is this a serious question??

TheHatinaCat · 02/05/2022 18:41

It's doesn't matter what they call it, you can guarantee someone will find fault.

We're living in a woke world..........

MyJobisNotOuting · 02/05/2022 18:41

In reality hee brother who had Semh needs and an excess of dogs probably needs to rehome one

TheLittleCabbages · 02/05/2022 18:41

seriously?! You have so little going on in your life that this is what you worry about?!

MintyChops · 02/05/2022 18:41

I’m Irish, you are being ridiculous. 🙄

Crankley · 02/05/2022 18:42

Pathetic.

GreenWheat · 02/05/2022 18:42

SarahShorty · 02/05/2022 18:43

Yep, people love to feel like a victim

Escarpahell · 02/05/2022 18:43

Unusual name for a dog...

TulipsGarden · 02/05/2022 18:43

Or perhaps they named it an Irish name to honour and build bridges with Ireland 🙄

Seriously. It's a dog.

Nesbo · 02/05/2022 18:44

Surely we should really be up in arms because they chose an anagram of a sex act? They might as well have called it Bob Jowl.

Dirty fuckers.

Aposterhasnoname · 02/05/2022 18:44

Bwahahahahahaha.

oh, wait, you’re serious.

Escarpahell · 02/05/2022 18:44

My message was in response to @SnowRoses 😂

DockOTheBay · 02/05/2022 18:44

They have two of their kids French names. Also tone deaf given England's history with France?

Basketet · 02/05/2022 18:44
Biscuit
StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 02/05/2022 18:45

It's a name that's currently fashionable in the UK. And people give popular human names to their dog. 5 years ago it would have been Luna, 10 years ago it would have been Maya.

They're a basic couple who do basic things. No point looking for offence where there is none.

I'm Irish and I couldn't care less.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 02/05/2022 18:46

This. I’m waiting for them to get a second one and call it Alan <hat tip to any Uk-based lawyers reading >.
