Looking for some inspiration - what is a good/healthy habit you started and noticed and improvement in how you felt from it?

Having a borroca with my breakfast!

PurpleDaisies · 29/04/2022 19:53

Running. Couch to 5k to get started and carried on. It gets me out in the fresh air and keeps me active.

PierresPotato · 29/04/2022 19:53

Eating a lot more veg.

devildeepbluesea · 29/04/2022 19:54

Running. I’ve done couch to 5k so many times, and always stopped after I completed it.

Currently on Week 6 and for some reason (maybe the weather?!) I’m absolutely loving it this time - I even run on non- run days. I was thinking earlier how great it makes me feel. DDog and I are out before7am, spring is blooming, the countryside looks stunning and I feel nicely tired at the end. Plus I’ve done my 10k steps before most people get up!

Skyeheather · 29/04/2022 19:55

Walking 10,000 steps a day, I've started losing weight and I sleep so much better.

Mamabananananana · 29/04/2022 19:55

Breast feeding support vits! Dunno about the baby- but my skin and nails are much better

Jewel1968 · 29/04/2022 19:56

Swimming. It not for the exercise (although that's great) it for the zen feeling I get afterwards. It's like an enforcemed meditation as I have to focus on my breathing a stroke. It's also one of those exercises that distracts you for the excerise aspect as I am always trying to improve. In my head I imagine ballerinas and dolphins.

ComtesseDeSpair · 29/04/2022 19:57

Cycling. I started during the pandemic because of no other option in London where we were all being told not to use public transport unless you were a key worker. Had you told me two and a half years ago that now, I’d be cycling in excess of 100 miles a week and loving it, I’d have laughed in your face. But it is so. I cycle to and from the office, and have certain points along my commute where I see London landmarks alit by a certain morning or evening light which makes my heart soar; and I cycle for errands, just on a nice sunny day because it’s a lovely way to see the neighbourhood and makes me smile.

Replacing biscuits with fruit salad for my mid-morning snack.

Giving up junk and processed food. Completely. No cake, biscuit, sweets, white bread, ready meals, packaged food

transformed my energy for life

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 29/04/2022 19:58

Drinking at least 2l of water a day.

Eating at least 100g good protein a day.

Quitting processed food.

Running

I started with C25K about 5 years ago, and its changed my life. Not just physically fitter, but improved wellbeing all round - there a lot to be said for time outdoors, ideally somewhere green, with the time to let your mind wander (or just focus mindfully on how your body moves)

Plus I've found some lovely running buddies. And have a real sense of achievement from some of the events I've completed

MadMadMadamMim · 29/04/2022 19:59

Qi Gong and Meditation. Even a 3 minute Meditation (I recommend the Mark Williams 3 minute Breathing Space) really helps feel calm.

I do 15 mins Qi Gong in a morning, Meditations when I can/or feel like it. It has really helped with chronic fatigue.

SheeceRearsmith · 29/04/2022 19:59

Joining a gym. I’m there any chance I get. It’s a lovely one that makes me feel like I’m holiday when I’m in the pool. I haven’t taken care of myself in so long and it’s like a treat to myself. I’m losing weight, have more energy and noticeably less anxiety.

@Jewel1968

swimming with the sauna after is extremely therapeutic

MrOllivander · 29/04/2022 20:02

Bought a peloton (and no I'm not minted!! But it's been worth every penny so far. Easy to finish work and jump on it, I love the classes and find it really motivating
I was flagging today towards the end of a class and got a high 5 on the leaderboard and was "I got this!"

HarryDresdensLeatherDuster · 29/04/2022 20:02

Walking! I signed up to a Macmillan challenge to walk 100k with your dog in November and haven't looked back! I am lucky enough to live in an AONB and have found that my soul soars when I am walking up high.

Autienotnaughtie · 29/04/2022 20:14

Yoga and meditation also on day six of no snacking!!

coodawoodashooda · 29/04/2022 20:15

Not saying mean shit to myself.

Lovemusic33 · 29/04/2022 20:17

Walking. I’m lucky that I live in a lovely area where I can walk miles without seeing a soul, I try and walk at least 5k a day, some days 15k. I know some people find walking boring but I love it and I keep finding new places to walk.

PriestessofPing · 29/04/2022 20:18

Drinking enough water.

C1239 · 29/04/2022 20:22

Ballet Based Movement. An online class I started in the first lockdown and have done nearly every day for over 2 years. I am in my 60s and have never done ballet before but I am now completely toned have a better posture and my back problems have disappeared.

HellyR · 29/04/2022 20:24

Reducing portion size, esp carbs. Although I ate healthy, homemade food, I was overeating but not realising.

Meal planning! (Years ago)
