This new site sucks

Hey Mumsnet, this new version of the site sucks. I’m sick of having to log in every time I want to do anything, I’m sick of it not updating so I’m having to trawl for new threads. When I do find anything, I can’t read it properly? But I can’t find any information from you about what’s going on, or when it’ll be fixed?

So.... everyone else is just hallucinating their problems? I've seen you on another thread saying this. It seems strikingly arrogant to assume that because you've had not problems (as yet) everyone else is just carrying on about nothing.

People ARE having issues and I understand that. MN ARE responding. They ARE making changes. It's been one day. I acknowledge that it's likely completely unusable for some people right now and that is beyond galling but it can't be fixed with a snap of fingers.

I just think that people need to explain the issues they're having, ideally on the thread on site stuff which they started specifically to manage this platform change or by emailing and then wait while they take time to sort it out to the best of their ability. If it's still unusable then that is a different issue.

I freely admit that during the last huge change, I was completely at sea and nearly left. It didn't work on my device at all but I waited and it was fixed.

MNHQ are people too and all this "FGS MN, this is crap, you've fucked up" rhetoric (not this thread necessarily) is directed at real people doing their jobs.

@SquirrelG at work if somethings not working then I complain to the people who can fix it until it does. It just happens that mumsnet are ignoring me 😁 also, it’s a bit rich saying that we shouldn’t be complaining then saying you don’t have any issues! It’s awful right now, so complain I shall!

Wont work properly on my mobile at all. Which is cutting down on the time I waste on here, so that's good I guess? Interesting business strategy though.

I think people not being able to post at all is a little more than struggling with change or a new system. Yes, if they changed systems at work and it meant I could no longer work that would be an issue.

Have you emailed? They are responding but there are a million posters on here. They're almost certainly not actively ignoring you.

@ShowOfHands - or not doing their jobs very well. Who launches a new platform without significant user testing?!

I hate the way my posts show up the same colour as the OP's posts - makes it harder see when you are just scrolling on the bus. And yes to the spacing to make us having to scroll more. Definitely more and more advertising creeping in although I suppose that is fair enough given its a free site. The annoying video boxes are cropping up again because you get logged out every time you shut the browser down.

You can change the colour in "customise" though.

They did user testing. Plenty of people like the new site.

I am not saying it is fit for purpose for everybody right now. I'm saying I've been in this situation more than once with Mumsnet when they have had to change and it brings teething issues. It has always been resolved but not in one day.

Yes I agree, very difficult to read the font plus all the white background.
Can't seem to link to anything, not sure if that's intentional or not but was trying to include a link in the message, got 'Ooops' message then had to go back and start the whole process again.
Wrote the post without the link instead.

Can't post from my phone at all.

Active is full of Zombie threads although I wondered if that was because it's school holidays.

I'm not sure why we should adapt and get used to it if there are genuine problems. If its not a user friendly platform then people won't use it.

Its absolutely terrible and whoever thought it was a good idea and set it up should consider a different career .

I actually quite like the new site. It’s clean and fresh. I don’t see enormous adverts blocking the page.
I like the new navigation feature.

I left a forum once before because of a similar change. It drove me insane. I didn’t use MN earlier this morning because I CBA to log in every time. Agree with PP that reading anything is a PIA.

Also, why are both OP and my own posts highlighted green?!

it isn't a "great job" when things don't work because errors have been introduced since testing.

Bloody awful. I'm usually fine with app updates, they just take some getting used to. This is just awful. Even the text font, it's so difficult to read.

Interestingly I'm on the App and have not seen one. Although I have had to actually go to the AIBU topic to see any up to date threads.

Most of the active topics seem to be from between 10-5 years ago!!
