To think dogs are fantastic?

To give a different perspective to the dog hating thread.

We've got a 14 month Doberman.

She's lovely, well trained, I always pick up her poo, great recall.

We are met with a lot of dislike and hate.

Because she's a lockdown puppy, because she is a large bread, because she runs fast, but does not go near people.

We lost our other dog 18 months previously, I initially said never again. But I realised the 14 years joy he gave, made up for the pain of losing him.

Y'know you could've just got an actual goat and it would mow the lawn and you could milk it . I cannot see Dobergoat doing either ..

I have just been ill. Every time I work up from a nap or sleep my dog was there, watching over me

That's so lovely. Much as I love my dog, he seems to have missed out on the 'devoted concern for his owners' well-being' gene. He doesn't notice if anyone is ill or upset, and if anyone falls over, he gets over-excited and jumps all over them whether they are unhurt or not.

Shes well cute! I think shes lovely.My friend has a Dobie ,really nice dog .My Dal is really friendly but we have met a few who think shes too "bouncy" Sorry this is a trait of Dalmatians !

Dalmatian's are forever young! Lovely dogs.

Dogs are the best! We have three large dogs and they are our world. We have two huskies and an American bulldog.

I agree. Dogs are the best! I miss my Dobie. She was fab. I lost her at 12 years old.

@DOBERGOAT she was. And such a pleasure to walk. Not interested in other dogs or people. Just wanted to do her running, in big circles.

Now I get to walk two little terriers, or more precisely terrierists! Not such a pleasure 😂

Yes, that’s how I feel. I wouldn’t want the commitment involved, especially having to take a dog for a walk in all weathers. That’s why I have cats instead. (My DH is allergic anyway so it wouldn’t be possible for our family to have a dog, though our DDs have asked in the past.)

But I love other people’s dogs and enjoy joining them on their walks when I’m visiting. And I can definitely see why so many people love having dogs as pets.

I got a staffy boy, after our elderly staffy girl passed away. I was heartbroken, but it also made me realise how much joy having a dog brought me. Our lovely rescue staffy is 9 years old and takes his job as Well-being Dog very seriously. Gets a bit worried if you sneeze, if you cry he licks your face until you smile again, he’s just the goodest boy, loving, playful, super cuddly.
Does like to wipe his old man dog bum hole on my carpet though, so not perfect…

That's the thing. I have shared my life with 4 dogs, but I don't want another one.
I am mulling over the whole idea of "owning" a pet, from an ethical and environmental perspective.
When I lived with dogs I put in a huge amount of effort and time to make sure they were looked after well- regular long walks, gooming, vet checks.
Not prepared for that.

People I can do without.
My darling dog I cannot.
Lost my beautiful Frenchie in January.
She was just my best friend.
Then I was sent a rescue frenchie x staffie
I'm in love all over again.
She's has helped our families grief and we are so grateful.

I love my little lady...I work with a man who has a real hatred for dogs.. he can't even be around then. Thinks they are a waste of time. I find him strange
