I've been getting grey hairs since I was 21, If I don't dye it my hair will still be uniform dark but with a few noticeable greys. Always thought this was very young to get them, just interested to hear others' experiences

Early 40s I found a couple. I’m now mid-50s and have a few more but you can’t really tell unless you look hard and up close.

housemaus · 12/04/2022 13:54

23 I got my first one. A decade later, I have a fair amount but it's not overly obvious yet. I can't dye them (allergic to hair dye) so I'm hoping it'll change in a nice way rather than randomly in chunks!

  1. Late 40s now. Grey is about 60% and first greys now going white
CounsellorTroi · 12/04/2022 14:01

Late 30s..I’m 61 and still dye it. I’m naturally dark brown, the grey is mainly on top and in the front and I would look like a badger if I didn’t. I would love a full head of grey or white hair.

namechangeranonymouse · 12/04/2022 14:16

They're not grey by the way, they are silver white, they just look grey mixed with dark hair. In my case, 40 and as they are silver they make my blond hair look a shade of platinum

At 23 I got a few grey eyebrow hairs. Wasn't looking forward to grey eyebrows and brown hair, but now 30 years later I still only have a few grey hairs in my eyebrows.

Started very slowly going grey from 27. Actually, once I had reached a nice salt-and-pepper stage I loved it. The colour suited me better than brown had. Now I'm over 50 I am mostly grey, which also looks nicer on me than brunette. Given a choice I'd have salt-and-pepper again though.

A580Hojas · 12/04/2022 17:05

First grey hair at 31. I'm now 59 and only 10% grey, if that.

VelvetChairGirl · 12/04/2022 17:07

18, but it was just a bit for years, then it went into second gear when I hit my mid 30s.

ThatsBullshirt · 12/04/2022 17:37
  1. I'm 32 now and if I don't colour my roots then they are like 90% white/grey. I can thank my dad who started going grey in his early twenties for those genes!

Yes unfortunately. She has some golden tones through her hair but can always tell the greys as they are wiry and different texture. She's also just been diagnosed with vitiligo so don't know if related at all.

GarlandsinGreece · 13/04/2022 02:47
  1. I’m 45 now and about 80 percent grey, but colour it.
Morph22010 · 13/04/2022 05:19

48 and not found any grey yet, my mum is 70 and still has dark hair with specs of grey. Her sister went totally grey at 21

Alazne58 · 22/05/2023 08:58

Age 11.

Zhougzhoug · 22/05/2023 09:06

First hair at 28.

Nothing else for a while, then maybe one new grey hair a year for the next 10 years. 42 now and over the last year or two I am
noticing more but my hairdresser says hold out for as long as possible - at least til 10% grey. That sounds quite a lot tbh!

Dodie66 · 22/05/2023 09:10

I was 30. my aunts hair went white when she was 21

Started greying at 20/21 - more than 50% grey at 35 when I stopped dying it. I’d say it’s closer to 70% now (41). I like the colour though - a flattering mix of pure white at the temples and a nice shiny platinum elsewhere.

Nordicrain · 22/05/2023 10:03

Early 30s, but just a few. I plucked them out untill around 36 when I had enough that it wasn't just the odd one.

I found a grey on DD a couple of weeks ago, she's 10.

KohlaParasaurus · 22/05/2023 10:12

A couple of white eyelashes appeared in my late 30s and the first few silver highlights in my early 40s. I'm around 30% grey now at nearly 60. It suits my skin tone, I don't mind that I look my age, and I don't dye it.

My mother and one of my sisters had lots of grey hair from their early twenties. My father's hair didn't start to go grey until he was in his seventies, and now at 84 it's still "dark brown with some grey" rather than "grey".

defi · 22/05/2023 10:13

34 got a few sprouts around my temple. Going to grow them out into a go faster stripe

WellTidy · 22/05/2023 12:10

Mid 20s.

A friend started to go go grey at 17 and was completely grey by 21. She has amazing hair though, really thick and well behaved.
